Hmmm sounds like Doug Aldrich may be jumping off the Whitesnake train to rejoin Dio full-time (after filling in for Goldy on some recent dates) Guess that will make the Snake DVD a necessity, seeing Beach and Aldrich together was awesome... Anyone here heard Doug's solo stuff or Bad Moon Rising?? very eclectic and interesting stuff... An underrated player to be sure.....

Is SACD dead? Why not at least a stereo SACD version of the latest album? Some of us fans who bought SACD players feel ripped off (by Sony maybe) because now Satch's new stuff doesn't come out in SACD anymore... I don't care about a 5.1 version, I just want at least a high-res copy (and not a copy of the CD version like Blue Note Records did with Norah Jones..)

Wow...seems like everyone is getting there pre-ordered stuff today, hoping mine comes in! Other than the DVD... GOing to finally see Malmsteen Nov. 30th! That's gonna be a sick show, Unleash the Fury is quite an impressive CD (and yes, I know he's repetitive with some of his stuff, but still Unleash the Fury is a kick ass CD.) Waiting for my G3 DVD to arrive! The only thing to do is play guitar until it arrives, I'm listening to 'In the Name of God' (off of Dream Theater's Train of Thought CD), I'll go figure that song out and if the G3 still isn't here, gonna work on some more DT songs! Dream Theater RULES!!! I wish they would have given Petrucci 3 songs on the DVD too (and I know his stuff is usually pretty lengthy, but too good to miss!) Sick solo near the end on In the Name of God...can't wait to figure it out!

Oh, man, Dream Theater were totally incredible last night. So much better than the Train Of Thought tour. The set was virtually impeccable - there were no songs I would have preferred to have replaced, although it would have been awesome to see A Change Of Seasons live!!!!! Even their stage presence has rocketed; Petrucci and Myung had some choreography going on together. They also did a really cool thing in Peruvian Skies where, after the first chorus, they broke into the riff from Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, and in the heavy section they played Metallica's Wherever I May Roam. It was fucking unbelievable. Best gig I've ever been to, bar none. Although Europe came close... lol
SteveeT - Definitely naturally technical. There didn't appear to be any exaggerated elements of showmanship/self-indulgence; it was just like "this is the way I play guitar - take it or leave it". The only time he really got technical was when he was talking about his amp settings, silicone diodes, pre/power amp stages, etc. It's just a whole world of shit I don't even slightly understand, basically. In terms of guitar playing, I didn't really learn anything new but I did get really inspired, and that's the most important thing IMO. Defintiely worth the £2 I paid to get in!!!!!! lmao
Clarky - Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what we're trying to do!!! We're pushing for another Guildford date sometime soon, so it'd be cool if you could mosie on down to that one.... Christmas piss-up is a wicked idea. Let's make it happen!!!!

The two most significant albums for me are:
1)'Passion & Warfare' - Steve Vai. This was the album that made me go "Holy shit!!! I didn't know these things could sound like that!!!!". Satch's 'Crystal Planet' kinda opened the door to this sort of stuff for me, but this album hit me right between the eyesand totally blew me away, and it still does now.
2)'Images & Words' - Dream Theater. The first DT album I bought, and I went out and bought every other one I could find thereafter. Petrucci is definitely one of my biggest influences, and listening to Dream Theater has totally changed the way I compose music.

Top 10 albums, eh? Well, now you got me thinkin'....
I just can't do it. There's simply too many to choose from, and I really can't put them in order of preference!!!
Right now I'm loving Lamb Of God's 'Ashes Of The Wake', and also 'Give & Take' by Mike Stern.
