The Cars Re-Union?

The long-rumored Cars reunion appears to be a reality. Founding guitarist Elliot Easton and keyboardist Greg Hawkes have recruited Todd Rundgren, longtime Rundgren bassist Kasim Sulton and ex-Tubes drummer Prairie Prince for the re-formed group's lineup, according to a letter Sulton allegedly has directed to his fans. The message claims that the band, which reportedly has been dubbed the New Cars, already has recorded some new material and plans to tour throughout 2006.

Mari - how many of us will be at Yngwie's? 2 of me, you, Mr. T - who else? I am not sure about front table. I'd be embarrassed to eat in front of Yngwie - seems disrespectful and you know he would unleash the fury for stuffing a burger instead of rocking with him.

Yea - I'm scared of him. It was great sitting 5 cm from EJ but somehow, I dont think YJM will be quite as placid.

woohoo....i had the most amazing time today. i just got back....we didnt have class...so this bunch of us decided to go out...just look around the city & stuff...& we went to this palace that has now become a museum...& then (even better) we went to this bird sanctuary. & at the time we went...there was hardly anyone...so we had this amazingly peaceful place almost to ourselves...we went on this looooooong boat ride (the ride was long...not the boat) & saw some amazing birds...& lots of crocks...they r sooooo cool. sitting on the rocks like they dont have a damned thing on their minds....or laxily swimming.....not as many birds this time as i saw last time (only some 7 types or so... egrets, ibis, darters, river terns, kingfisher (only one) & all .........). then we just sat around...i found this little nook where there was no one & i could hear only the water & the birds (& see them too) & pulled out a bit of paper to draw on ....... & suddenly thought of the T2JSINFONIE ..... how's that going?? ....... anyways .... i had an amazing time

Waxing Part One of Two

WARNING: What you are about to read may make you pee your pants!!!

All hair removal methods have tricked women with their promises of easy, painless removal – The epilady, scissors, razors, nair and now….the wax.

My night began as any other normal weeknight. Come home, fix dinner, play with the kids. I then had the thought that would ring painfully in my mind for the next few hours: “Maybe I should pull the waxing kit out of the medicine cabinet.” So I headed to the site of my demise: the bathroom.

It was one of those “cold wax” kits. No melting a clump of hot wax, you must rub the strips together in your hand, they get warm and you peel them apart and press them to you leg (or wherever else) and you pull the hair right off. No muss, no fuss. How hard can it be? I mean, I’m not a genius, but I am mechanically inclined enough to figure this out. (YA THINK!?!)

So I pull one of the thin strips out. Its two strips facing each other stuck together. Instead of rubbing them together, my genius kicks in so I get out the hair dryer and heat it to 1000 degrees. (Cold wax,” yeah…..right!!)

It works! OK, so it wasn’t the best feeling, but it wasn’t too bad. I can do this! Hair removal no longer eludes me! I am She-rah, fighter of all wayward body hair and maker of smooth skin extraordinaire!

With my next strip I move north. After checking on the kids, I sneak back into the bathroom, for the ultimate hair fighting championship. I drop my panties and place one foot on the toilet. Using the same procedure. I apply the wax strip across the right side of my bikini line, covering the right half of my “hoo-hoo” and stretching down to the inside of my butt cheek(Yes, it was a long strip) I inhale deeply and brace myself….RRRRIIIPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m blind!!! Blinded from pain!!!!....OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vision returning, I notice that I’ve only managed to pull off half the strip.

CRAP!!!!! Another deep breath and RRIIPP!!!! Everything is swirly and spotted.

I think I may pass out…. Just stay conscious…. Do I hear crashing drums????

Breathe; breathe….OK, back to normal.

I want to see my trophy – a wax covered strip, the one that has caused me so much pain, with my hairy pelt sticking to it. I want to revel in the glory that is my triumph over body hair.

I HOLD UP THE STRIP!!

Waxing - Part Two

WARNING: What you are about to read may make you pee your pants!!!

There’s no hair on it. Where is the hair???? WHERE IS THE WAX????

Slowly I ease my head down, foot still perched on the toilet. I see the hair. The hair that should be on the strip. I touch. I am touching wax. CRAP!!! I run my fingers over the most sensitive part of my body, which is now covered I cold wax and matted hair. Then I make the next BIG mistake…..remember my foot is still propped up on the toilet? I know I need to do something. So I put my foot down. DAMN!!!

*Hoo-hoo*? Sealed shut!! Butt??? Sealed shut!!!!

I penguin walk around the bathroom trying to figure out what to do and think to myself “Please don’t let me get the urge to poop. My head may pop off!! What can I do to melt the wax? Hot water!! Hot water melts wax!!

I’ll run the hottest water I can stand into the bathtub, get in, immerse the wax-covered bits and the wax should melt and I can gently wipe it off, Right???? WRONG!!!!!!!!!!

I get in the tub – the water is slightly hotter than that used to torture prisoners of war or sterilizes surgical equipment- I set. Now, the only thing worse than having your nether regions glued together, is having them glued together and then glued to the bottom of the tub…in scalding hot water. Which, by the way, doesn’t melt cold wax. So, now I’m stuck to the bottom of the tub as though I had cement-epoxy myself to the porcelain!!

God bless the man who had convinced me a few months ago to have a phone put I the bathroom!!!!!! I cal my friend, thinking surely she has waxed before and has some secret of how to get me undone. It’s a very good conversation starter – “So, my butt and who-ha are glued together to the bottom of the tub!” I calmly tell her.

There is a slight pause. She doesn’t know any secret tricks for removal but she does try to hide her laughter from me. She wants to know exactly where the wax is located, “Are we talking cheeks or hole or who-ha?? She’s laughing out loud by now… I can hear her. I give her the rundown and she suggests I call the number on the side of the box. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right!! I should be the joke of someone else’s night. While we go through various solutions. I resort to scraping the wax off with a razor. Nothing feels better than to have your girlie goodies covered in hot wax, glued shut, stuck to the tub in super hot water and then dry-shaving the sticky wax off!! By now the brain is not working, dignity has taken a major hike and…………………………….

I’M PRETTY SURE I’M GOING TO NEED POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS COUNSELING FOR

This event. My friend is still talking with me when I finally see my saving grace…..the lotion they give you to remove the excess wax. What do I really have to lose at this point? I rub some on and OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! The scream probably woke the kids and scared the dickens out of my friend. Its sooooo painful, but I really don’t care. “IT WORKS!!! It works!

I get a hearty congratulation from my friend and she hangs up. I successfully remove the remainder of the wax and then notice to my grief and despair…THE HAIR IS STILL THERE……ALL OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I recklessly shave it off. Heck, I’m numb by now. Nothing hurts. I could have amputated my own leg at this point.

Researchers: Hops in Beer May Be Healthy

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Hops used to brew beer may have some health benefits but researchers warn against expecting any significant effect by drinking a few cold ones.

Scientists at Oregon State University's Linus Pauling Institute have found a class of compounds called flavonids neutralize "free radicals" — rogue oxygen molecules that can damage cells.

One of those flavonids, a compound called xanthohumol, is found only in hops. It may help prevent some forms of cancer, researchers say.

Some beers already have higher levels of flavonids than others. The lager and pilsner beers commonly sold in domestic U.S. brews have fairly low levels of these compounds, but some porter, stout and ale brews have much higher levels.

Still, the level of the compound in beer is generally considered too low to have any significant preventive effect.

"We can't say that drinking beer will help prevent cancer," said Fred Stevens, OSU assistant professor of pharmacy and scientist in the Linus Pauling Institute.

Hops, from a flowering plant, are used by brewers as a bittering agent in beer. Xanthohumol is a yellow substance that was first discovered in hops in 1913.

But its health effects were not known until the 1990s, when Stevens and colleagues started studying the flavonoid compound. In cell cultures and animal studies, xanthohumol targeted various types of cancer, including breast, colon and ovarian.

His original work, along with new developments in the anti-cancer properties of xanthohumol made during the past decade, was reviewed last year in the journal Phytochemistry.

Now Stevens is collaborating with fellow Linus Pauling Institute scientist Emily Ho to investigate the effects of the flavonoid on prostate cancer cells.

"When we give the flavonoid to cancer cells, it seems to slow their growth, which is what you want to do for cancer," said Ho, who is also an assistant professor in OSUs department of nutrition and exercise sciences.

Although the tiny amounts of xanthohumol found in beer have little preventive value, Stevens thinks it may be possible in the future for drug companies to develop pills containing concentrated doses of the flavonoid.

First-Class Stamps to Go Up 2 Cents

WASHINGTON - The cost of mailing a letter will increase to 39 cents on Jan. 8.

The Postal Service's board of governors approved the two-cent increase in first-class postal rates late Monday. It is the first increase since June 2002.

The cost of mailing a postcard will increase a penny, to 24 cents, as part of the roughly 5.4 percent, across-the-board hike in most rates and fees.

Clarky buddy!! never been to Canada eh? you should visit... barely anywhere else in the world where you'd see so much vegatation, especially in Northern Ontario... the highways here were litterally made with dynamite... the Canadian Shield is a massive rock formation surrounding most of Ontario but you just sctrach the surface in the Muskoka region...

Beautiful place to be in... and Winter...WOW what once was a golf course transforms into a ski resort for the winter...

later...

Good Morning Satchland....How Are You Peeps Today?

I'm glad you liked the coffee. I thought that was great and wanted to pass it along to T2J.

Mari......So glad to hear from you. I'm glad you have a high speed connection now. We also have Comcast and we love it. It's the way to go ! ! !.Anthony Gomes was awesome. What a performer. I took notes if you know what I mean. He has Biscut Miller(long time Lonnie Baker Brooks Bassist) with him. Biscut ripped into a bass solo that was unf....in' believable. What a great band. I gave Anthony my CD and asked him to email with his thoughts. I'm curious to hear what he has to say. I installed iLife 05 so I have the HD video capibilities now. The only problem : You have to film in HD to have HD video. OOPS ! ! ! That one got past me but I'm still going to make the DVD for you of Joe's show. I think that's a good idea to get those photos to Vai ASAP. I don't think he'll forget about you it's just good business. I'm pretty sure I have my rhythm section. Finally.... I'll keep you posted. Take care my friend. Hugs to you.

Dakook...... Good analogy of the Vai controversy. If you can call it that. I agree with you 100%. I'm glad Angelina and the twins are doing fine. God bless all of you. Take care.

Clarky..... I'm in for your CD when it's finished. Please let me know. I'd love to hear your songs. Visit my site for email info. Sign our guest book if you want. What a cheap plug. Dont you think?....lol.....

http://www.thebluesmavericks.com

BTW....Do have a DVD or a book you can suggest on music theory? I know you have a strong background in this area. I was looking for something on writing progressions for the Modes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Zen....thanks for the update. I'll be watching the mail

How are the ladies of T2J doing today?

Have A Great Day Everyone ! ! !

Edit.....Zinc. Thanks for the info on the area code scam. Very interesting. People find more ways and loop holes to jump through for the all mighty dollar......That's shrinking on a yearly basis. Thanks again
