Hi fellow Satchites, Question - Having just watched G3 in Tokyo I was wondering wether to get some John Petrucci stuff anyone got his new album? Worth gettin? What about Dream Theater what kinda stuff is it? If along the Satriani lines which album should I start with?what about Eric Johnson's stuff is he more countrified? Not too keen on country so much, although he was pretty good with G3 and what about that other blokey can't remember his name, haven't got that G3 DVD yet what's he like? Come on 962 you can answer this one I'm sure - missing you!

Zenfish - thanks for the apology sweety, you must have missed my post that said I don't take offence at much, I might raise an eyebrow and say OK but that's about it. As I have mentioned before, we are all unique and have different opinions, but hey we are all human beings no matter what our opinion and so we have a common bond as well as being Satchites of course. Anyway you wouldn't get far with your Symphony if you were not serious sometimes eh?

js1200js1000 - It's what the heart is that counts and you got a lot of good heart. LOOKS EH!!!!!!!!!!!

Hugs Satriella xx

Zen......i respect your passion and vision, everyone who has achieved has the quality of " a reach that exceeds their grasp" your thoughts and insights are both lucid and ethereal. A genuine approach that is "art for the sake of art"

On another note:

A man walks into a bar smoking a cigar..he leans over the bar and shouts rudely to the bartender "Hey!!! can you pass the ashtray!!!!" The bartender politely and calmly replies: " I think so.....but I'm not sure I can swallow it."

Peace John

962 - By the way, just listening to your songs too, right now. Do you know what - All GREAT ARTISTS with probably no exception, think that they could do better, and what they have done is not quite good enough. I guess that's what makes their stuff great, cos they are always striving to do better. But the thing is they are GREAT ARTISTS - You fit the bill, absolutely. Airhead, is playing at the moment, great stuff! Love The Jester too, actually love them all, cos as you say in a lot of them Happy whatever and I'm a fairly happy person most of the time, so therefore I think they are FAB! Time Boogie is great too, took me back a lot of years when I was into the Stray Cats. Bye the way, you say that was the name of your first band, what's your band called now? Or are you following Joe, Steve, Eric etc and being the main man with a few helpers?

"Shocking i actually take good care of my guitars but never lending them to friends again"

If I'm reading this right your guitar was broken by a friend so you're never gonna lend out your guitars again?

Well your answer is there dude...if one of my mates broke my guitar I'd make them pay for it...but my friends are likely to do it out of their own free will cause they're like that lol.

I hope your wait for a new guitar passes quickly...

Has anyone hear heard of Omid Djalili ?

I honestly think he is one of the best comdians to come about in the last 5 years.

None of this 'Bo Selecta', 'Little Britain' and 'Katherine Tate Show' bullshit...Nothing can beat the 90's for British comedy. Bottom, Men Behaving Badly, Black Adder(!!!!) etc...

Eitherway I'm going to see Omid Djalili in February...2nd Row at the Alexandre Theatre...I hope he takes the piss outta me or my mate lmao...

Satriella, your continuing support and encouragement is a real inspiration, so....thanks! Yeah, the first band was called Time.....right now I don't have a band. I've been pretty busy working, and have, in my spare time, just been putting my own tracks together, which are the ones you've heard. I do intend to put a band together at some point. On thursday I went to the school where a couple of my students go and helped them out with a lunch time practice session to improve their collaboratve skills.

Helping us out was a fouteen-year-old girl playing drums and she was great, so I might put my shark hat on and tell her I'd very much like her to play drums for me! Basically, I'm formulating a plan! haha

In response to your questions - Petrucci's solo stuff is going to be somewhat different to Dream Theater. Dream Theater is "progressive metal" so it's all heavy, all serious, and all pretty epic. It's pretty cool, although I have almost completely gone off it now. There's still a few tracks which I can listen to all the way through, but I've passed through that particular phase in my life!

Eric Johnson is nice and varied. He does one or two country/bluegrass tracks, lots of blues-rock stuff and some much more jazzy stuff. He also writes a lot of great happy tunes, and also happens to write some of the best vocal tracks you'll ever have the honour of hearing. He can really sing too. If you liked his stuff on G3 '96, then I recommend that you get a copy of his Venus Isle album, and go from there. he is my absolute favourite musician, so I adore all his stuff, but for those who aren't so sure I would recommend Venus Isle, Alien Love Child: Live And Beyond and Bloom as albums you're likely to enjoy.

Ah Via Musicom is hiding it's age brilliantly and has some amazing tracks on it. I truly believe that Eric Johnson is the best guitar player around, and Ah Via Musicom and Venus Isle are packed with tracks that are good indicators of this.....with his CD's being so cheap, especially on amazon, it's worth getting some. If you hate them, sell them to me!

As for Yngwie Malmsteen.....get that G3 DVD first.....he's like marmite. You either love him or hate him. You should get a good idea of whether or not you like him by getting G3 '03, and even if you don't like him, it's worth having 'cause Vai's set is killer!

haha, no you're not 'tripewriting' (love it!!), you're making perfect sense! Hugs back at you xx

gotta have joe, howdy! Yeah I'm having a groovy enough day thanks....a little cold though! how about you? Good to hear you're interested in having an Ovation!

Satriella Dream Theater is amazing! I didn't get Petrucci's Suspended Animation yet, just noticed like a month ago I can get it from his site, can't wait to order it. I do have the 1st Liquid Tension Experiment CD, which is really good, all instrumental songs, you should like it. Freedom of Speech, I think that's the song, the 5th song on that CD, is really good, very melodic, then goes into a 4 minute jam, then back to the melodic riff. It's not the same as Satch, but you should like it. I don't have the LTE 2 CD yet, but I'll have it soon, just noticed the music store by me got it in the other day, I'll pick it up this week. As for Dream Theater, I think they are amazing, by far the best band, so many great songs! If you are brand new to Dream Theater, the 1st CD of theirs you should DEFINITLY check out is Scenes From A Memory. Scenes From A Memory is their best CD. (get the Scenes from NY DVD too, amazing!) Then, get the Live at Budokan DVD, and if you like what's on it, pick up Train Of Thought. They also have another DVD which contains two discs, the 1st disc is from the Images & Words tour, the 2nd disc - 5 Years In A Livetime - contains live footage, studio footage, videos, and a lot of extra stuff. Definitly pick up Scenes From A Memory the next time you go out, it's well worth getting, you'll be amazed. All of their CD's are awesome, except When Dream and Day Unite, they had a different singer (their 1st CD), but isn't that great, has a few good songs, but nothing special. Hope that helps, anymore questions about DT, let me know.
