js1200js1000, you can't put pictures into a post right here on the messageboard. But you could put them up somewhere else - another messageboard or a web-photo hosting site - and put a link to them in your post.

However, if the pictures you want to share are "fan art" of Joe - a drawing of or inspired by Joe or a digitally altered photo - then like michelle said, you can send them to webmaster Jon and they might get added to the gallery.

Greetings, I have a question/ comment/ or just want to provide some food for thought. We live in a "relativistic" society commonly known as post-modernism, where there are no absolutes; the only exception is in the question. Most all things are considered "subjective", where the truth is with the one experiencing it. "Objective" being the other.

Is music at a point where there is no objective truth? What I mean by this: If say Joe, plays a song with one message in mind, should that not be the only message (one concpet/ truth), rather than have someone who does not understand the language re-interprit it to meet his idea of the message of the song? Simply put, could "Cryin'" be a song about chopping wood?

We are in a paradoxal society. Because his absolute value is hyper-relativism, hyper-subjectivity.

To say all is subjective is very dogmatic.

The objectivity is a construction. If people studied more Logic & Mathematics, Sciences, it would be less easy for them to hide themeselves behind the absolute relativism.

The post-modernism isn't a real concept, but a bastard word of sterile intellectuals unable to give a concept to their very imprecise intuitions.

The modernity, in Occident, is just starting to think about is own limits, politic, economic, ecologic, ideologic, cultural..

The Musicians are still working on the loop of Classic & Modern Eras. & the sensibility goes almost always faster than the mind.

When the musicians will have found the historic balance of classic & modern eras, we will be able to really talk about the begining of neo-modernity.

I seem to recall that we let the drongoes win the first ashes test to lull them into a false sense of security before going on to dominate the series. I see history repeating itself. Time will tell.

On another note, I fully understand your outrage at the disrespectful words toward the greatest Albanian that ever lived but IMHO the best way to react is to just ignore them.

zen - I personally believe that ambiguous influence is a strong thing..
it offers balance like yin and yan...
in the inner pool of ideas you have greater breadth and depth..
so there are choices.. times to be sparce... times to be intense.. times to be calculating.. times to be driven by passion.. times for consonance and times for dissonance...
for me this creates a center of gravity in a player / composer that is not fixed, but diverse and shifting...

when I hear the McLaughlin influence it has occured to me that I may be hearing an amalgum that leads to a similar space..

so am I really hearing pure green, or do I hear blues and yellows combining to create shades of green???

like you say... this could essentially be the influences of your influences... lol..

one of the things that I've worked hard on, is to have a shifting center of gravity and all the diversity that comes with it, yet the shift is centered around some common ground...
all of the different spaces are available to me
but no matter what space I enter... you always know it's me...
and that... is an extraordinarily difficult thing to do...

the masters all have this... Satch, Vai, Cyrka etc...

to me... that is the holy grail...

Clarkysan: my target with all this new music is not to introduce refinement to the mosh pit...but to refine the triggers to set 'em off... Bring on the heaviness bro, bring it on, lol!!.... And you know we cannot wait to hear the finished Shredz Paul!.... Congrats!....

JohnnyVolume: Dude, your point on: I also got the feeling that at the two shows I saw them at it seemed like Vai was trying to steal some of the spotlight from Joe.... Check out the G3 Denver dvd where JOE introuces Mr. VAI for the Jam Session and Steve walks out bowing to JOE with both hands raised to his heart (as in "prayer mode")..... Steve has also stated that he would never try to "outdo" or disrespect JOE in any way.... "He cut his teeth with JOE", and as you know, JOE is the G3 Boss.... He picks the team....

He is not underground per say but people who are very into his music are usually people who know true skill and art..... Very good point..I agree....

This however, is not true of Vai. Could you honestly see him walking into a Kroger with his eyeliner, black outfits, long hair, etc and not be labled a rocker?.... I disagree.... Mr. VAI does not go out looking like a rock star.... Check the backstage footage on G3, and also check out Mr. VAI' site "News" Section.... Lot's of pic's of the real VAI.... Not "rock star" at all....

Werd to michelle on the great explanation.... Get well soon girl! :-)

evbro: lol Evan!.... Playstation2 and YOUR music!!.... Right along with the ranks of JOE as you know, and that's kuul, kuul stuff!!.... Rock-On and keep us posted....

marimariSRV: Right-on Mari!.... I hope your plan works out, and how kuul would that be!!.... Getting to mee Chris also, lol, SATCH Family ROCKS! :-)

Later peeps, gotta run>>>>>>>>

I agree - it should be called the WWF.

I don't watch enough to have a favorite - I watch for the entertainment. There are a lot of good wrestlers / actors on the show. I only get to watch Smackdown (when I can watch that is). Many years ago I watched just about every show.

I don't know whether you were around or whether I mentioned it but I saw PG in a clinic over here a few months back. Totally get him now, huge fan................just goes to show how much a players personality or perceived personality can influence the way you hear their music. Other news did you know that I got an Ibanez AT300? mwah ha ha ha, I told 962 early this year that I thought it would be the case but never really believed it. Great guitar but the Jem is still No 1.:-)

Sony BMG recalls copy-protected CDs

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Music publisher Sony BMG, yielding to consumer concern, said on Wednesday it was recalling music CDs containing copy-protection software that acts like virus software and hides deep inside a computer.

"We share the concerns of consumers regarding discs with XCP content-protected software, and, for this reason, we are instituting a consumer exchange programme and removing all unsold CDs with this software from retail outlets," Sony BMG said in an statement.

The XCP software used by Sony BMG, which was developed by British software developers First4Internet, leaves the back door open for malicious online hackers.

Sony BMG, in a separate statement, also announced it would distribute a program to remove the software from a PC where it jeopardizes security.

"We deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause our customers. Details of this (recall) program will be announced shortly," Sony BMG said.

The withdrawal is set to affect millions of compact discs from artists such as Celine Dion and Sarah McLachlan but Sony did not give exact figures or the names of the artists affected.

Sony reiterated that the copy-protection software only installs itself on personal computers and not on ordinary CD and DVD players.

Microsoft Corp.'s anti-virus team said on Tuesday it would add a detection and removal mechanism to rid a personal computer of the Sony's DRM copy-protection software. The software installs itself only on PCs running Microsoft's Windows operating system.

NBC to air audiotapes of Lennon's killer

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The man who murdered John Lennon says in newly released audiotapes of interviews he gave more than a decade ago that his compulsion to kill the rock icon was like a "runaway train" and that "nothing could have stopped me."

NBC said on Tuesday it would present excerpts of the taped interviews with Mark David Chapman as part of a two-hour documentary special set to air on Friday commemorating the 25th anniversary of Lennon's death.

The interviews of Chapman in Attica state prison in New York were conducted in 1991 and 1992 by author Jack Jones, who wrote the Chapman biography "Let Me Take You Down." Most of the tapes from those sessions have never been played publicly.

Chapman, currently serving a sentence of 20 years to life, shot Lennon to death outside the Dakota apartment building in Manhattan on December 8, 1980, hours after getting the musician to autograph a copy of his newly released comeback album "Double Fantasy."

Chapman, who was 25 at the time, has cited J.D. Salinger's coming-of-age novel "The Catcher in the Rye" as his inspiration for the murder. Chapman has said he identified with the book's hero, who hated phoniness, and gunned Lennon down because he thought him a hypocrite.

According to excerpts of the interview tapes transcribed by NBC News, Chapman said he saw Lennon as "a successful man who kind of had the world on a chain, so to speak, and there I was, not even a link in that chain, just a person who had no personality. And something in me just broke."

Recounting the moment he shot Lennon outside the Dakota on a brisk late-autumn evening, Chapman said he "heard a voice in my head, saying, 'Do it, do it, do it.' And as (Lennon) passed me, I pulled out the gun, aimed at his back and pulled the trigger five times in succession."

He also said he remembered "thinking perhaps my identity would be found in the killing of John Lennon."

"I was under total compulsion," Chapman went on. "It was like a train, a runaway train, there was no stopping it. No matter ... nothing could have stopped me."

A spokeswoman for NBC said a small portion of the taped material was used in a documentary that aired several years ago on the CourtTV cable channel, but the vast majority of the tapes have never been heard before by the public.
