Satriella, your continuing support and encouragement is a real inspiration, so....thanks! Yeah, the first band was called Time.....right now I don't have a band. I've been pretty busy working, and have, in my spare time, just been putting my own tracks together, which are the ones you've heard. I do intend to put a band together at some point. On thursday I went to the school where a couple of my students go and helped them out with a lunch time practice session to improve their collaboratve skills.
Helping us out was a fouteen-year-old girl playing drums and she was great, so I might put my shark hat on and tell her I'd very much like her to play drums for me! Basically, I'm formulating a plan! haha
In response to your questions - Petrucci's solo stuff is going to be somewhat different to Dream Theater. Dream Theater is "progressive metal" so it's all heavy, all serious, and all pretty epic. It's pretty cool, although I have almost completely gone off it now. There's still a few tracks which I can listen to all the way through, but I've passed through that particular phase in my life!
Eric Johnson is nice and varied. He does one or two country/bluegrass tracks, lots of blues-rock stuff and some much more jazzy stuff. He also writes a lot of great happy tunes, and also happens to write some of the best vocal tracks you'll ever have the honour of hearing. He can really sing too. If you liked his stuff on G3 '96, then I recommend that you get a copy of his Venus Isle album, and go from there. he is my absolute favourite musician, so I adore all his stuff, but for those who aren't so sure I would recommend Venus Isle, Alien Love Child: Live And Beyond and Bloom as albums you're likely to enjoy.
Ah Via Musicom is hiding it's age brilliantly and has some amazing tracks on it. I truly believe that Eric Johnson is the best guitar player around, and Ah Via Musicom and Venus Isle are packed with tracks that are good indicators of this.....with his CD's being so cheap, especially on amazon, it's worth getting some. If you hate them, sell them to me!
As for Yngwie Malmsteen.....get that G3 DVD first.....he's like marmite. You either love him or hate him. You should get a good idea of whether or not you like him by getting G3 '03, and even if you don't like him, it's worth having 'cause Vai's set is killer!
haha, no you're not 'tripewriting' (love it!!), you're making perfect sense! Hugs back at you xx
gotta have joe, howdy! Yeah I'm having a groovy enough day thanks....a little cold though! how about you? Good to hear you're interested in having an Ovation!

Satriella Dream Theater is amazing! I didn't get Petrucci's Suspended Animation yet, just noticed like a month ago I can get it from his site, can't wait to order it. I do have the 1st Liquid Tension Experiment CD, which is really good, all instrumental songs, you should like it. Freedom of Speech, I think that's the song, the 5th song on that CD, is really good, very melodic, then goes into a 4 minute jam, then back to the melodic riff. It's not the same as Satch, but you should like it. I don't have the LTE 2 CD yet, but I'll have it soon, just noticed the music store by me got it in the other day, I'll pick it up this week. As for Dream Theater, I think they are amazing, by far the best band, so many great songs! If you are brand new to Dream Theater, the 1st CD of theirs you should DEFINITLY check out is Scenes From A Memory. Scenes From A Memory is their best CD. (get the Scenes from NY DVD too, amazing!) Then, get the Live at Budokan DVD, and if you like what's on it, pick up Train Of Thought. They also have another DVD which contains two discs, the 1st disc is from the Images & Words tour, the 2nd disc - 5 Years In A Livetime - contains live footage, studio footage, videos, and a lot of extra stuff. Definitly pick up Scenes From A Memory the next time you go out, it's well worth getting, you'll be amazed. All of their CD's are awesome, except When Dream and Day Unite, they had a different singer (their 1st CD), but isn't that great, has a few good songs, but nothing special. Hope that helps, anymore questions about DT, let me know.

I have tracks to screen at soundclick.com/waterproofsoap
I know I've listed myself as a guit. player....but I'm actually a classically trained basist.........I just have a tendency to noodle with anything that makes noise......
If the roster is full or you think its not the right fit just let me know...i have no ego to bruise!!!
