Good Morning Satchland...... How are u guys today?

I had a busy weekend. Cindy has been sick since Wed. of last week. Whew ! ! ! when one team member goes down the other steps up. I'm glad I wore my gym shoes all weekend. She was on her feet Sun. and returned to School today. I'm glad she' feelin better and we're exceited about Thanksgiving. Cindy's a great cook and the family looks forward to this every year.

962..... I know what you mean about Eric Johnson. Before I started my band I played with a band at a outdoor festival. John Kay and Steppenwolf,Leslie West with Corky lang and Eric Johnson were the headline bands. I was hanging with Leslie West and he asked me to go to his trailor and ask his assistant to pick him up in his golf cart. Leslie has bad emphuzema(sp) Anyway I come around Leslie's trailor and Eric was standing there. I just walk up to him and shook his hand and Cindy and I ended up hanging with Eric for about an 1 1/2 hrs. He is the most kindest, gental and soft spoken man you could ever meet. At one point Eric said excuse me and went and talked with this couple for about 5 min. and came back and oppoligized and said he was rude for leaving our conversation. Cindy and I looked at each other and said no problem. What a cool guy. Eric, Satch, and Vai set great examples of how you should be as a professional. They love talking with there fans and Never ever foget who they are and where they came from. All these guys are focused on there music and don't let fame distract them in anyway. They're awesome people.

Angelina/Dakook.....Thanks guys. I'm really happy for you. You have a lot to be thankful for. God bless you the buns in the oven.

Kayla..... I'm doing great and thanks for asking. How are you ? Did the mountain open up for snowboarding? Did you go? Let us know when they're going to air the make over segment from your town. I like the idea of the Satch poster. You should do that.

Clarky......Good point..... Thanks again for your help. Thanks to you also Neil. I appreciate it.

Stevee T..... I got your cd along with Zen's tape. They both came in the mail at the same time. Unfortunetly I didn't have time to listen to both. With Cindy being sick...I had my hands full. Thanks for sending this to me.

Zen..... I got your tape.....Thank you also. Did you get my movement idea for the Sinphony?

Joe.... How are you? Just wanted to know how Vancouver is and how the recording is going. Is John Cuniberti engineering and producing for you? Will Mike Fraser do the mixing? Just curious. Take care. Thanks for your inspiration and beautiful music. Say hey to the band and crew. Take care.

Short work week. Yippie Kiyaaaaa....fill in the blanks....

Have A Great Day Everybody ! ! !

Soapy John

I could listen to Cuboids stuff again and explain my references but I really don't think there is anything to gain from that.

There are a number of people who contribute to these pages and sometimes give what I consider to be over the top praise. I have every respect for the talent and bottle that people have to create music and invite others to listen and give an opinion. As such, I believe they deserve my honest opinion, however worthless that opinion may be to some others.

Regarding Tool. Met him in chat once, the conversation went something like the following:

Hello Tool

Hello Steve, do you play?

Nope, do you?

Yes, I'm on the T2J CD

'Tool has left the conversation'

And that was that!

Cubes

If Big Gay Al's gerbil has died, i'm sure someone can felch him another! LOL Oops, I should put fetch!

Keep rocking

Steve.

Keniko: Yeah, I've never met EJ, but in video interviews I've seen, he seems like a very nice guy. On top of that, it always stricks me that when he talks he has alot of the same manerisms of Garth Algar or Wayne's World fame haah!

Howdy folks!! I have a question for ya'll. If you were going to audition for a band and they made the effort to give you a CD with songs to learn and contact #s for questions and to talk to the other guitarist about what parts to learn, WOULDN'T YOU CALL AND THEN LEARN THE FUCKIN MATERIAL!! I am so sick of coming to auditions a hearing people say that they just going to "wing it. " It's depressing as hell. I really like the things that can be done with 2 guitars, but if this keeps up I'll be the lone guitarist come summertime. This crap upsets me to no end. So, we are still looking for guitarist #2. Thanks for letting me vent. On the flip side, I haven't been able to go to Fluid Mechanics class for 2 weeks because of family stuff, but was able to do the HW this weekend in about an hour. That was sooo cool. Anyway here's to haveing a good Turkey day.

Civgeek...... I know what you mean and I feel your pain. I've gone through the process of auditioning rhythm sections for almost two years. The good news I think I found the guys I want to work with. I've been so frustrated at times I actually started crying cause you want to play so bad. All I can say is keep moving forward. They're out there ....you just have to find them. It's not easy.

OPCS470.....How are you doing? Yes.... EC is very genuine. What you see is what you get....and you get a lot. There's no ego, no I'm a star attitude. I still can't believe Eric oppoligized to my wife and I. We were like....you're Eric Johnson and you're opplogizing to us. We couldn't believe it. I got pics of me with Leslie,Corky and Eric from that show. Is there a way of posting these without a page like web shots?

Zen..... I don't know what happened. I uploaded the attachment. It was there when I sent you the email. I'll try again tonight. I'm at work now and don't have the mp3 with me. Take care.

Ahhh ! ! ! another edit. I suck at typing.

CAPTAIN STEVE

There was certainly no problem with your observations at all, and i certainly am not knocking you in ANY way.

All feedback is good....

DCK asked me if I heard these qualities in his playing too....thats all.....

I have heard feedback on my music that puzzles me... But I welcome it!!!

Your input is as valuable as any....and I certainly respect that among listeners and players...

Sometimes players forget that without listeners....they would have only self-gratification to play for....

How many guitar players does it take to change a lightbulb??

Just One

but it takes every other one to say that they could have done it with better technical proficiency, soul, and interpretation!!!

Gobbles to All !!!

962 Hey, you're getting rid of Dream Theater CD's???? What CD's are you getting rid of? I could probably take them off your hands if you are looking to get rid of them... let me know what CD's you have of theirs.

Satriella Do you know what CD of Dream Theater you heard? Better than getting the CD's, you should get the Scenes from New York DVD and the Live at Budokan DVD. Both are amazing! If you want to go the CD route, definitly get Scenes from a Memory 1st to check out. Still curious to which DT CD you heard, if it was When Dream and Day unite, they had a different singer, wasn't LaBrea.

Keniko, haha, that's agreat story about EJ. He's definitely the man! If you haven't seen any of the videos available to download from his website you should check them out! It is definitely my lifetime ambition to meet him and tell him he is a proper genius! hehe

Guitarmeister, I'm disposing of "A Change Of Seasons", "Scenes From A Memory and "Awake". I've just sold my "Live Scenes From New York" DVD on amazon. I can't remember if I listed "Train Of Thought" on there, but if I didn't, then that one's up for grabs too! I'll let you know.

Do you live in the US, or Europe, or somewhere else? :-p

edit: Yes, I have Train Of Thought for sale on amazon (uk) so can't give that one away in case somebody then buys it! Then I'd be in trouble!

Hi Joe, Have you ever thought of being a bit more ambitious with G3 and making say G6. There are so many talented guitarists around. What's the most you've played with at one time? Have lots of kids, their great, I'm sure they would be great guitarists too with you as dad.

962 - HAZZARD WARNING! Your train of thought was way off. It was awake. You'll have to give me a rating in comparison to the other albums now. With regard to Eric Johnson I may well go for the Venus Isle album - Just out of interest - any singing on that? Talking of singing, you have to help, with something that is driving me mad. I have asked before but I'm hoping you didn't see the post and you were in lurk mode. The question is - Troy has this song called "Platypus by Platypos" (or vice versa) and if that's not Steve Vai talking/singing and playing guitar, then I'll never darken this site again, no wait, that's a bit rash uuuummm I'll never judge any music again, no wait, that's a bit rash, no wait I'm SURE it's him, but my son says it's not, well you have to rise to the challenge, don't you!! I've checked out Vai's site - nothing. I've checked out Platypus on google, well you can guess what I got for that - help prove me right - You, oh deep thought, you must know the answer!!!

Guitarmeister - As you see above the album Troy has is Awake, I think I will probably go for the new Suspended Animation album, I like to hear the guitar nice and clear, not have to strain my ears past singers, although having said that, I do like Joe's voice, but he has the perfect mix of guitar and voice. Vai's not too bad either. I have to say that I was amazed at the discography of DT, they've done loads - confused.com.

Blue Moon - Well your bound to get weird things appen with a name like blue moon aren't you - you've only got yourself to blame!!! Seriously that is pretty freaky though. It happens so often though doesn't it? I was emailing a bloke, John from here a couple of weeks ago, I was telling him that the first gig I'd ever gone too was to see Motorhead (I was only 12!) at the Hammersmith Apollo, anyway I walked into the front room and the programme Rock School was on (it's a prog about Gene Simmons from Kiss trying to get these posh kids to be rockers) - Gene Simmons was just introducing the kids to Lemmy and guess where they were? Go on ...you'll never get it..Oh all right, it's dead easy - - they were at the Hammersmith Apollo!!!!!! Aaaaaghh Freaky.

Anyone else got a similar story to tell???

Clarky - gutted, skinned and hung out to dry!!!!! Poor thing

Delfino - got your soundclick in my favourites but haven't had a chance to listen yet - get back to you soon with my thoughts.

Death cube K- Still tryin to listen to yours too, can't seem to get the sounds now - YES the speakers are turned on!! DAAAAA By the way I think a name explain is in order? No not Rusty!!!

Michelle - Hi sweety, good to hear from a fellow gally! I know what you mean, It's quite hard trying to keep up with this lot, especially with Zen's symphony goin on!

Zenfish - Gold Star for you, this is taking some organizing - your the man!!!

Everyone else - Listen to the man and if you can help with my query please do - thanks

Big hugs Satriella xx

PS nearly forgot - js1200js1000 - hope you get the guitar of your dreams soon - LAST BUT NOT LEAST EH!!!!!!!!!!!!
