naffing nora.... 12 pages and i was only up at the lake house from thursday night..... sorry if i tread on any toes or reply too late to anything....
skipper yeah it's weird... in the confines of the family / home it's brekky dinner tea, but taking anything but breakfast outside of the home makes it something else, lol... dinner becomes lunch (which for me was an egg and bacon barm around 11:00 with a brew) and tea becomes dinner... i guess we're weird... or maybe they are! lol and try explaining "eeh i'll go to't foot of our stairs" to an american and you're in for some frowns! lmao!
dr mindcrime there have been at least two T2JCD2 updates in the last week... what more do you want?!?! lol
yoda cool post, however please remember that IV and IVmaj7 and I and Imaj7 and (especially) V and V7 aren't the same thing, you used them interchangeably... ;-)
AustiNitsuA hey bro :-)
master zed welkies, matey :-)
aussieRGman sounds cool on your recent purchases! people have literally made movies with such kit! read the manuals! ;-)
congrats luini!!! well done that man!!!!
cube and skipper i think critiquing music is a tough job (if one is a real critic, not one who gets free passes to this that and the other).... i like to try and "judge" (but even "judge" is a bad word, i think) music on what it is... you either like it or you don't... maybe you like bits and don't like other bits... it's all cool... it means you have an opinion.... your (skipper) roundup of mark's music was honest and i appreciate that... and i actually agree to an extent... mark's music is very original to me and i always look forward to a new tune in my gmail box from him.... however i'm not exactly sure why i'm even responding to this cos i'm not involved LMAO... blame it on the high mountain air i've been sucking down for the last three nights.... at 35 degrees F here it's positively warm compared to the lake.... ok i'm waffling...
big gay al if you get your paddy arse over here i'll buy you more than one beer, how's that...? hey what happened with the job?

962 --------------------------------------------------- Have you listened too Eric Johnson's latest album, Bloom from Vai's Favoured Nations label yet? I picked it up not long after release and I still love it to death. I have Venus Isle and AVM as well, im trying to get EJ's Austin City Limits from 89' on DVD but its impossible to find here for some reason.

G3 wise, I got the first album plus its DVD as well as G3 Live in Denver on DVD and Tokyo on cd. Tokyo was depressing because of the persistant fret wanking that seemed to be put on by all 3 guitarists on the jam session, but thats just my opinion. The solo sets themselves were great though, Up in Flames was the first song Satch played when I saw him last year. Malmsteen was like that on the Denver show though and he wanks above all else. I like his old music but it just gets boring after a while for me.

g'day joe, just found out i can get your new G3 Live In Tokyo dvd next week from my local cd shop.. whoo

on the subject of down loading free or not so free music as talked about I think if the tecknowladgy is there for the artist to use for his/her website and they give permision for u to download then its up to them.. but if some one puts up some music to buy and some how u get it with out paying for (unless like places where just a short few seconds of the song) then i think thats wrong. fair enough u buy the cd and make a back up to use in the car ( thats what I do, so if some one breaks into my car and steels the cds there only getting burnt ones),ps not sure of the legaglities of that either, would be intersting to know ..

PhryDom as for manuels on equipment? what r they? Clarky are we there yet (remembering donky in shrek 2) Satriella we all talk about, talk to each other hear eventually... ps if u havent listent to my stuff my world

hey Sugarbaby6928 - nice to hear your comments, don't know if you'd read Dakooks previous comments, I was just making the point that just cos your talking on here, doesn't mean you have a luv thing goin on, and if that's what he thought about me and js1200 talking to each other then that must mean me and he had a thang too - get it - like you and me have a thang goin on now. As you said it's all just harmless, silly and sometimes serious - as in Zenfish and his symphony - chat!

Dakook - Wow, CONGRATULATIONS!

Clarky - Cool thanks for that. Look forward to that post! Japan tour, Japan tour! you really do follow Joe closely don't you!!!!!

Js1200js1000 - Hmm, you may be 6 foot 4 inches but your not my luvly kid, a big kid maybe, but sorry you don't count. NICE TRY EH!!!!!!!!

Blue Moon - Ahh, I can't help laughing when I hear that name, reminds me of American Werewolf in London, funny film!! As above though, soz my money won't stretch that far. I don't know how much they cost, but I bet it's wheeeeeey (oh was that a Scrubs ref Dr Cox) out of my league.

You'll have to make do with a HUG.

Satriella, choose Eric Johnson's Venus Isle first.....if you're disappointed I'll be very surprised. EJ's music is nice 'cause you don't have to just be a guitar player to be able to appreciate it.....my whole family are loyal members of the proverbial Eric Jonson Appreciation Society, and I'm the only one who knows anything about guitar playing. Like I said, I can send you some Dream Theater which I don't want, so there's no point buying something that you could just be given!

Seriousy, Venus Isle is the most starkly beautiful album in my collection.

update - just read your post saying Troy has some DT on CD. Which album was it you were listening to? I'd hazzard a guess at it being Train Of Thought?

jetking, yeah I saw The Animatrix, I thought it was much better than the two Matrix sequals.
meandmrvai, haha, I couldn't agree more on the excessive use of note-density! I found Yngwie's contributions kinda tedious, and I have completely failed to be excited by the prospect of G3 with Jon Petrucci because I fear he will have added the same kind of thing.

I would imagine that when it comes to the Jam, Petrucci wants to prove that chromatic shredding can sound tuneful, Vai will remember that masses of sweep-picking got a good response so will do the same again, and Joe will be left playing something nice and bluesy that will sound great to the more experienced guitar players, but to everyone else, will sound decidedly unimpressive.

G3 96 had all the tone, feeling and combined genius that it's successors have lacked. EJ has taste, wisdom and note-selection to die for. The only other person who's come close to that was Robert Fripp. I think Andy Timmons would do it brilliantly though!

Yeah I got Bloom when it came out......got the poster too! hehe. I too am still adoring this album, especially the whole first part. Columbia is the best new tune I've heard in ages and when you thnk of it in context, ie. Space Shuttle disasters and so on, I find it very moving. EJ's playing never ceases to amaze me, and his composition on the Bloom album is top-notch.

I don't know about you, but I thought "Tribute To Jerry Reed" was an awesome track too......it's great that EJ doesn't feel he has to leave those kind of tracks out!

Hey CUBE

I finally was able to listen to yer trax...... I'm puzzled at the hendrix/cream reference as well. BTW...whats the deal with Tool and his "we are veterans" comment? I've got thick skin....but it just seemed a little elite-ist If I got the wrong idea, I apologize........

There are many players and listeners of different abilities and genres....i think all have their merits.......

I, for one, am hesitant to do anything but encourage.... After all.....wasn't Einstein scorned as a patent clerk??

Good Morning Satchland...... How are u guys today?

I had a busy weekend. Cindy has been sick since Wed. of last week. Whew ! ! ! when one team member goes down the other steps up. I'm glad I wore my gym shoes all weekend. She was on her feet Sun. and returned to School today. I'm glad she' feelin better and we're exceited about Thanksgiving. Cindy's a great cook and the family looks forward to this every year.

962..... I know what you mean about Eric Johnson. Before I started my band I played with a band at a outdoor festival. John Kay and Steppenwolf,Leslie West with Corky lang and Eric Johnson were the headline bands. I was hanging with Leslie West and he asked me to go to his trailor and ask his assistant to pick him up in his golf cart. Leslie has bad emphuzema(sp) Anyway I come around Leslie's trailor and Eric was standing there. I just walk up to him and shook his hand and Cindy and I ended up hanging with Eric for about an 1 1/2 hrs. He is the most kindest, gental and soft spoken man you could ever meet. At one point Eric said excuse me and went and talked with this couple for about 5 min. and came back and oppoligized and said he was rude for leaving our conversation. Cindy and I looked at each other and said no problem. What a cool guy. Eric, Satch, and Vai set great examples of how you should be as a professional. They love talking with there fans and Never ever foget who they are and where they came from. All these guys are focused on there music and don't let fame distract them in anyway. They're awesome people.

Angelina/Dakook.....Thanks guys. I'm really happy for you. You have a lot to be thankful for. God bless you the buns in the oven.

Kayla..... I'm doing great and thanks for asking. How are you ? Did the mountain open up for snowboarding? Did you go? Let us know when they're going to air the make over segment from your town. I like the idea of the Satch poster. You should do that.

Clarky......Good point..... Thanks again for your help. Thanks to you also Neil. I appreciate it.

Stevee T..... I got your cd along with Zen's tape. They both came in the mail at the same time. Unfortunetly I didn't have time to listen to both. With Cindy being sick...I had my hands full. Thanks for sending this to me.

Zen..... I got your tape.....Thank you also. Did you get my movement idea for the Sinphony?

Joe.... How are you? Just wanted to know how Vancouver is and how the recording is going. Is John Cuniberti engineering and producing for you? Will Mike Fraser do the mixing? Just curious. Take care. Thanks for your inspiration and beautiful music. Say hey to the band and crew. Take care.

Short work week. Yippie Kiyaaaaa....fill in the blanks....

Have A Great Day Everybody ! ! !

Soapy John

I could listen to Cuboids stuff again and explain my references but I really don't think there is anything to gain from that.

There are a number of people who contribute to these pages and sometimes give what I consider to be over the top praise. I have every respect for the talent and bottle that people have to create music and invite others to listen and give an opinion. As such, I believe they deserve my honest opinion, however worthless that opinion may be to some others.

Regarding Tool. Met him in chat once, the conversation went something like the following:

Hello Tool

Hello Steve, do you play?

Nope, do you?

Yes, I'm on the T2J CD

'Tool has left the conversation'

And that was that!

Cubes

If Big Gay Al's gerbil has died, i'm sure someone can felch him another! LOL Oops, I should put fetch!

Keep rocking

Steve.
