Hey Joe, I missed your posts but read them thru the link and I would like to welcome you guys to Canada, its great that you guys are recording here in our wonderful country. I hope you are being treated well in Vancouver. Catching any snowboarding yet or are you planning on doing some? I have a serious question for you though, what are your plans for the next G3 tour and who are you considering as your next candidate. I hope you pick either Paul Gilbert or Eric Johnson, remember that its coming up on the 10th anniversary of the G3 so it would be awesome if you and Steve played with Eric once again as a reunion sort of thing. What were your final thoughts on the G3 Live in Tokyo sessions? I, to be honest wasnt all that impressed with it as I was with G3 Live or G3 Live in Denver. I must admit im not a huge fan of Petrucci but I respect him as a guitarist though. I am looking forward to your next album Joe and seeing you again on another concert tour, you totally blew me away at the concert you last did in Toronto in 2004 on tour with Thin Lizzy and Deep Purple.

Steve

Hey Joe, Yeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! Just watched G3 in Tokyo...there are no words to describe the greatness of all of you, fantastic fingerwork - loved it. I was wondering though, either you or Steve mentioned the fact that you grew up together, what are the odds of you being on stage together at this point, so it got me thinking, do you ever see any of your other guitar students from your early years? Do they still play guitar?

Blue Moon - Thought of you as I was driving home yesterday - the moon was huge and right in front of me, georgeous it was, so orange too - I'm not infuring that you are huge or orange by the way lol, just remembered your pics!

Zenfish - You must have missed the post where I said that most of what I say is with humour attached. But I get your point, I wouldn't be able to express my thoughts in French..similar kinda thing.

Michelle - Love the Keep it Saturated idea

js1200js1000 - Thanks for the hello, boy do I need every bit of encouragement I can get at the moment, it all helps. I don't understand something though? If you can get stuff on Ebay, why don't you just buy stuff from this site eh? This is where I got my DVD and it was really quick too. It's soooooooooo Gr8! People who see me type on the computer say they don't know how I can do it so fast and I think well its just natural and easy, I guess that's the way it is on the guitar too for those guys, but they make much better sounds than me - all I get is tap tap tap tap tap tap click clunk tap tap tap - just not the same is it - I know which I would prefer to be good at! G3 EH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hugs Satriella xx

RockChild

You don't need Joe to tell you how to become a "Guitar God" :)

Practise, Learn your Theory (scales etc), Make up excercises. get lessons. These few things will help you, If you want to be the best you can be it helps if you can practise alot.

Also use a Metronome and play with other people, It helps with timing and makes for fun practise sessions.

Also a passion for the instrument is the main thing you need, or at least should have.

For free lessions try http://www.cyberfret.com Thats your basic theory, scales, arps, chords etc. Also teaches some nice licks.

Good luck with that.

svk, yeah, what you gotta bare in mind is that gifts from my cat usually include dead rodents and dead songbirds. She doesn't understand that we don't really want to have a headless mouse left on the kitchen floor, so she kinda gets forgiven! :-p
js1200js1000, no problemo dude, you're always welcome!
gotta have joe, Ovations are great. They sound nice and they are really easy to play. The only thing that I find awkward is the round back on them.....I used to find it would slip if I was sitting down with it, although now I've grown I probably wouldn't have that problem. I should try one again actually, but yeah, Ovations rock. And they put the same love into all their guitars, so even the cheaper ones feel and sound great.
YESSSSSSS! This is amazing....Eric Johnson says he is going to film a couple of shows in the first quarter next year and make them into an EJ Live show DVD. Also, Electromagnets II will be out early next year! This rocks!

To Zenfish: Thank you for your response to my message posted.

I appriciate you pointing out the dogmatism I conveyed pertaining to "subjectivism". Sometimes my words are not quite as well presented as I would like. But, non-the-less, thanks for pointing it out. I will try to be more clear.

The unspoken message I was asking: Do people even care about the message I want to convey through music? You see, I have difficulty expressing myself verbally and I know this because people misunderstand what I am communicating. This is frustrating to me. I do not want to have this problem musically. Musical instruments have been the only safe haven for me to really convey what I need to communicate. It has been this way since I was five years old. I just do not want to be misunderstood.

Pertaing to the chaos (change) in music over the centuries, thanks for bringing that up. I never really looked at music from the big picture standpoint. I have looked at specific times and places. I was focused on a tree rather than the forest:)

Ovation 1: Good on y Mikeysan, sometimes y just got t cut the chord & let rip.Currently on a small mission to record my old 70,s Ovation custom balladeer without the pickup, apart from the obvious cheap choice of 2 Shure SM81,s i,m taklin this with a Shure SM 57 with a boss cs3 t boost the line signal!, Shure t try Shure t fail, lol, but hey its fun t mess around with what y have.As for that sweet spot...well right now the bathroom is my best bet cause in a 5 story flat made from bricks when lots of little feets are running around above & below even the craproom gets a dent, family prime time at weekends here, 2pm being major munch time with kids goin nuts "mama mama i want more chocolate...no you,ve had enough......mwaaaaaaaaa" oh man,y know the drill bro, think i,ll record it & send it to them as a christmas prezzie, lol

Zen: You,ll have snail mail that should arrive b4 christmas, i wont say what that is cause i,m slanshclause, lol, i,m nearly set to rec this bro, but need info, bpm for your idea?

Clarky: Y know Mr Paul, i,m humbled by that, to give someone an idea is THE most precious gift "for me" any musician can give, further more, you do the idea justice in every sense of the unwritten word. On another note so t speak,Tura my better half, just passed her first Yellow belt Kung Fu/Wu Shu exam, amazing to see her confidence rise, better still i get to learn the forms from her after work, then do her up the hoop later, lmao
