Hi everyone!

Well, it seems that I'm almost 100% OK now, just one more onion soup ;-)...thanks for the well-wishes 962, Satriella, bahduh, Stevee T, Keniko :-)

And I'm almost updated in Satch and Satchland matters too, still many posts to go...how many things! Some points...

Nice to hear there's a new project by Talk2Joe musicians rising...

Regarding the G3 "Live in Tokyo" CD and other Sony releases with copy protection...it's a ridiculous thing that it's only unfortunate for consumers and fans :-( For the moment, I'm resigned to listen to the CD only in my CD player...I'm waiting for the release of the CD without XCP software. Both CD and DVD are divine.

marimariSRV: "Maybe we could exchange Photos/ Bootleg Joe DVD's?? If possible......I have a friend that can put VHS Tapes on DVD no problem if you want that done. I have Joe's KFOG Private concert from EOC Tour on DVD...Very Nice show......So Nice to be home."

Hi Mari, yeah, It would be cool to do some video and DVD swaps and I would love to have some prints of your work, like Simon (962) said once, I can pay them too! :-) I'll send you more details by e-mail one of these days...

Sorry for the delay in my reply Mari, but some days after seeing Vai in Madrid and Barcelona I caught an awkward and nagging cold too...the day after Vai played in Barcelona there was a huge deluge there!

I loved your Thanksgiving message to Joe, it's so true... and I can say from the bottom of my heart too that Joe, his music and personality brought to me an inspiration that improved my life...hehe I don't like to say this very much because sometimes sounds typical, doesn't it? ;-) but it's the truth and my truth too. Joe is very special...and I even know people who doesn't like his music very much but say "that man must be an angel"...just seeing the look in his eyes.

I hope you are better from that crappy virus...healthy vibes to your way :-)

And happy 666 posts! ;-)

Satriella, glad to see the Platypus mystery is solved hehe but continuing the Platypus thingy...there's a song called "Platypus" too, by a group Mr. Bungle (that project of Mike Patton from Faith No More) that it's very Vai-Zappa too LOL

Stevee T, my pleasure :-) it was nice to see "Harvest Ice" included in the CD, this song is delightful...

bahduh, hi, I'll reply your e-mails as soon as possible, have a nice day :-)

alexandrecaetano, hi Alexandre! Any chance of getting that music magazine with your Steve Vai interview? I would love to have it, stay warm :-)

I exceeded the character limit, sorry ;-) this post continues in the post below...

962, hi Simon! It's so nice to see you always here :-)

About Steve Vai's EVO Premium Experience in Madrid...for you and for everyone interested...

It was an inspiring lesson. We were 17 in the group, 15 guys and 2 girls. When we were taken our seats...I ended up beside Steve by pure chance! I placed myself beside the video camera and then Mikey (the EVO Experience host and Steve's assistant, webmaster, camera man...) changed the place of the video camera and put Steve's seat there hehehe I was between delighted and nervous! But the nicest thing of being beside Steve for me was to have a full view of my fellow EVO participants, to see their happy faces, and how some asked questions and some others were simply delighted of being part of the group hearing and enjoying the moment...it was cool.

And Steve...what a well-mannered man he is! He answered thoroughly all our questions, we discussed things like his times in Whitesnake, his interest in non-conventional art, the world of music, composition...he seemed relaxed and he revealed that this chat was his favorite part of each concert apart from going shopping with his wife Pia. I noticed more than ever the hard/fast/good worker he is during the day (a worker "bee" ;-) and the monster player and showman he is on stage at night ;-)

The show was incredible, the audience was on fire, I loved specially the performance of "Freak Show Excess".

And two days after I went to the gig in Barcelona. The funniest moment was when he jumped into the crowd and...played "For The Love of God" lain face up holded down by the audience's hands! It was mind-blowing and freaky hahaha

You can see a picture of "the moment" here, it's not very good but it's the only one I've seen around...http://www.metalsymphony.com/images/conciertos/vai/vai6.jpg

Picture by David A. from Metal Symphony.

I hadn't heard before about Vai doing this before although he repeated the thing in Zagreb, Croatia, he wanted this moment to be recorded for an upcoming DVD...yeah, there will be a DVD of the Real Illusions Tour!

You can check my review of Madrid's and Barcelona's show at the "concert reviews" section at vai.com's message board if you like...It's a long one...with pictures (including a "mug shot" of myself hehe) and written both in English and Spanish.
That was keeping me a bit busy too before catching the crappy cold ;-)

And yeah, I'll be seeing Andy Timmons this Thursday at Ritmo y Compás in Madrid...I can't wait! I can't wait! And of course if I have a chance...I'll ask him about G3!!! ;-)

Other thing...talking about my little trip to Barcelona...for everyone but specially for Simon (962), OME and bahduh, who were interested about it...I visited that new futuristic tower in Barcelona I mentioned here...it's amazing.

The ideologist and architect of the tower is Jean Nouvel, famous French architect. The tower is inspired in mountains from Barcelona (Montserrat), a geyser and the Mediterranean sea. Here's a picture I took: Agbar Tower, you can see that it hasn't only two colors as it seemed in the other picture I posted Previous Agbar Tower picture. It really has 40 colors and the blue stands out for the sea and sky...It took 6 years and a half to build the "thing".

And well! Nice to see ovation1, Do The Stu, Noppa, VFRrocker, JOE!!! and some other great guys and girls posting again :-)

Mr. Satriani, On your DVD, Live In San Fransisco, You talked about the effects you use. At one part you mentioned "that big dreamy sound". I love that sound and would like to know if you could tell me what pedals and settings you were using. I would really appreciate if you could tell me, because I want to learn how to play it. Respectfully yours, "Your 1 fan in New Mexico" Chuck Concha

I've finally watched the Movie "Ray".........can I just tell you how blown away & inspired I am by "the man". He is just genius and every song gave me goosebumps! An amazing story!! His voice / music just stirres my soul.......I was going to see him at BB Kings but the show was cancelled and he passed away shortly thereafter....I would've loved to have seen him live. Such and incredible voice and musician.....we have lost a great talent. Ray Charles, I bow to you....

mari

I have to watch it again before I return the DVD.....it's THat good!

I'll catch up with y'all later. ;-))

ZENfish- I wish I had your knowledge of EVH. Satriani and Van Halen both stir my soul.. in different ways, their music is very varied.

I am not a big fan of Clapton to be honest, not my thing at all. I love Hendrix though :)

I agree, Bon Scott's "Nightprowler" kind of style is the best AC~DC - Brian Johnson has a good time voice- Bon Scott always had a dirty, gritty rock n' roll vocal though? A very cool rock and roll voice!
