I've finally watched the Movie "Ray".........can I just tell you how blown away & inspired I am by "the man". He is just genius and every song gave me goosebumps! An amazing story!! His voice / music just stirres my soul.......I was going to see him at BB Kings but the show was cancelled and he passed away shortly thereafter....I would've loved to have seen him live. Such and incredible voice and musician.....we have lost a great talent. Ray Charles, I bow to you....

mari

I have to watch it again before I return the DVD.....it's THat good!

I'll catch up with y'all later. ;-))

ZENfish- I wish I had your knowledge of EVH. Satriani and Van Halen both stir my soul.. in different ways, their music is very varied.

I am not a big fan of Clapton to be honest, not my thing at all. I love Hendrix though :)

I agree, Bon Scott's "Nightprowler" kind of style is the best AC~DC - Brian Johnson has a good time voice- Bon Scott always had a dirty, gritty rock n' roll vocal though? A very cool rock and roll voice!

I love JOE SATRIANI's music!

If Steve Vai is playing guitar, then Joe Satriani is playing music!

HIs feelings of love, sadness...are all in his music, his screaming of guitar, and his "wha-wha"... they shock me very much whenever I was listening to his songs.

I first got to know the name JOE SATRIANI by the song "the crush of love", I love this songs very much, espacilally the screaming part, I found a feeling of silent crying-"don not leave me alone, my love !Please!"...It is still one of my favourite songs ...

Joe Satriani is the god of rock. He taught Kirk Hammet how to rip through guitar solos and I thank him for that because I love Metallica. I thought Hammet was good but Satriani, oh Lord Satriani is just amazingly sick. I appreciate the sickness of Joe and his students. Joe is my hero.....

ScalesMaster you are more than welcome, my virtual friend :-) Personally I wouldn't worry too much about ghost notes... they're not exactly accidents, but they're almost certainly not intentional... they're sounds that the player makes that are kinda tricky to transcribe.... maybe a little like say someone is playing up by the 12th fret and then moves to say the fifth position... there might be some kind of it-would-never-happen-again noise made by one finger touching one of the strings in a certain way as the hand slides down the neck... it's not a note that's played but something can be heard.... they can also be rhythmic... like maybe the picking hand hits a string or two but the neck hand isn't fetting any notes... there will be a sound, but not necessarily a sound that can be transcribed, at least accurately... ghost notes occur in-the-moment and (IMHO) can never be repeated... they are part of the performance... the quality of transcribers these days is quite stunning....

man i hope that makes sense!!!! post back if you need more help!

Stevee T: Nice stuff man! Were there any JS in guitars in the Butterscotch Blues tune? That Chrome boy certainly has an instantly recognizable tone (in capable hands)! That FRED pu is really interesting, it has lots of highs and high mids, without being ear peircing. Very interesting.

Wow Joe,

I just finished watching the G3 Live In Tokyo DVD, and it's just how I remember my 1st G3 experience but only better... and infact it was with John Petrucci... I have to say that John is a much better fit in the bill with you and Steve... the music just sounds better... Yngwie was ok but he tends to show boat much more often than he really should be entitled to. The music breathed a sigh of relief naturally especially when you guys were trading licks with one another with John...

The best DVD experience for G3 yet in my opinion... G3 with Eric Johnson is 2nd in my books and then a close 3rd with Yngwie live in Denver...

I'm anticipating a tour soon Joe, after the new album of course... can't wait for all that great stuff...

Peace Out

Barrie
