Civgeek- thanks! It reminded me of being little, touched my heart a little bit.

LucySorets- yes that's the only downside- the band's video takes a while to load, not so bad with broadband, but if not, a pain in the neck!

Hmmm I've seen some comments about Frank Zappa around...

I love Frank Zappa too. Well...some days after his death, one of the public radio channels in Spain "Radio 3" made a tribute to Zappa. This tribute consisted of broadcasting his entire discography. So every night for one hour every album was broadcasted without cuts and commented. This lasted months. I had the opportunity of listening to every album, appreciating Zappa's genious and brilliance.

Some points about Frank Zappa's music:

When I listen to Zappa I can't do another thing at the same time. It's like watching a movie.

I love all the albums but if I had to choose...the "You Can't do That on Stage Anymore" series are my favorite albums.

RIP Frank Zappa (December 21st 1940 - December 4th 1993)

most guitarists make faces, It just happens when u play the instrument intimatly, and if some dont do it on stage they defintly do when no ones looking!! im forever doing it, if im not making funny faces my eyes are closed...... but this is coming from a guy who sleeps with his guitar :-O but im just very emotional and passionate when it comes to music, especially guitars.......... My 24 cents

michelle Train of Thought is one of DT's best, what great songs that CD has! (I'm listening to Octavarium right now.) How is Petrucci's S.A.? I've been wanting to order it from his site but just haven't gotten to it... I haven't heard much of it yet, but most likely I'll like it, just wondering what you think of it. I'm a pretty big DT fan, and LTE. Still waiting to finally see DT live...Waiting for new dates to be posted...maybe soon?!

Satriella About Yngwie CD's... I don't have all of his, but I got some good ones. Concerto Suite, Attack!!, Unleash the Fury, Rising Force, Collection, and Inspiration. The only other Yngwie CD's I've been really wanting to get is the live CD he's got out (the double disc one, but I'd probably get the older one as well) and the other Rising Force CD (which is supposed to be one of his best.) Out of the ones I have, if I had to pick my favorite it would be either Attack!! or Rising Force (cover has fire with a ladys arm holding a Yngwie Strat.) The others aren't bad at all, but those two stand out the most. Inspiration is really cool, if you like Rush, Deep Purple, Hendrix, and a few others, Yngwie did some really good covers. Concerto Suite, I think, would probably be something guitarists would pick up, but you could like it. It's his most known stuff with him playing it with an orchestra (in E flat minor to be exact...seems to be Yngwie's favorite key, he has so many songs in E flat minor.) I wasn't that impressed with Collection, there's better CD's than that. Unleash the Fury is his latest, it has some really good songs on it. I'd definitly recommend Attack!!, Rising Force (with Yngwie Strat being held up with fire in background), and there's another Rising Force, I'll let you know exactly which one it is later, I'd look now but can't. Those three would be the best to get 1st. I'll get back to you later.

Zenfish: I wish Shane luck also, but right now, he hasnt done anything to cause an uproar in the guitar world.... I'm sure he will someday....

Clarkysan: Awesome news bro, I hope we get the chance!.... Good luck with the gigs bro and looking forward to Shredz.... I'm sure Guitar 9 is also.... I'm sure we'll see you there bro!

Satriella: The faces we make comes from the feelings we get, which are transmitted uncontrollably from emotions within our soul, caused by the melodies that we create.... lol, that sounded scientific! ;-)

marimariSRV: haha, lol Mari, I could picture YJM with all the bling, leather, truffles and the ponytail running across the tennis court.... Take care of Toshi mar, and Hyannis is not far from my Mom, and she told us how wonderful the snowstorms were, lol, stay warm mar, and we will karma that photo call! :-)

Lucky Sorets: Happy Constitutions Day, and thanks for the links!....

....Off to work....

-Check out (1) Marching Out, (2) Rising Force, and (3) Attack!!. They are all on that page.

-Those are 3 great ones to go with. If you are looking for 5, which I think you might have said, get Unleash the Fury and Double Live. I've been wanting to pick up Double Live for a while now. I've got a bunch of CD's I'll be picking up later this week.

-I guess nobody goes to or has gone to Berklee here?...

Guitarmiester: One of the members here (Matt King / Course of Evolution) won a scholarship to Berklee.... We were like "AWESOME", but he found out it wasnt for him and decided not to go.... Long story short, he basically said that it was real political, and the average student doesnt get noticed....

....I wish he would chime in here.... Calling Matt King to explain!....

....One of our members here, Ricky Garcia, went there....

guitarmeister Dave Martone , also was a berklee student.. he thinks fondly of those days..he is doing a shred column in guitar one now.. I think if you work hard and develop your own voice you would do well. i know a few guys that have done well..IE nelly fortado's drummer Dave, and Mr Martone, both are doing well.

Matt King, for some reason that name sounds familiar to me? I know I've seen him post here before, but still, sounds like a familiar name to me? For me, the only way to really go there would be to get a scholarship, which I'm working hard at. I did just get my SAT scores back, and did better than I though, huge improvement from my 1st SAT score! I got at least 100+ more points in each area. I've heard that about Berklee, that it's really not for everyone. I know Joe went there, briefly, and it wasn't for him. I'm not positive on this one, but I think all the guys from Dream Theater went there, but I don't think they were there for real long. My friend just went to Berklee to check it out two months ago, he's applying there too. That's the only thing I'm sorta wondering about, if it'll really be for me. I know music very well and I can definitly play, but..maybe I'll take a few days out up there and really check it out.

One of the other main reasons I'd like to go there is to finally meet some real musicians... you guys probably know, but the kids these days are, I hate to say it, just disgusting at what they play(not all, but most). I haven't found or jammed with one kid in my area that was really good, knew music, or listened to anything good. It's totally unbelievable, I've been without a band for a while now, I've been trying to get one going, but it's pretty hard. With the music that's popular today on top of how many kids just play to be cool, it's not easy finding other kids to work with that can handle what I play or give them to play. Well...I do know two kids out of like 40 kids that were actually really good at what they played (one played bass, the other drums), tried making a band with them, but the bassist didn't really work.

Matt King, if you are out there...I'd like to hear from you!

-I'll try to record some of my stuff, see what you guys think of it when I can. I don't have anything to record on my computer with yet, but I'll be getting something soon. I'll try and put up some of my instrumental stuff and then try and put up some other songs I've been working on (best classified as prog. rock/metal). I've been mainly working on the prog. stuff, I've kinda put the instrumental stuff to the side (it's all done, I've just been waiting to get something to record using my computer so I can put it all on a CD and get it out there!) I'll talk to you guys later, off to play some more guitar. It's time to rock...again.

(sorry for all the posts)

Joe, you know we how much we all love your music, so I will just say thanks for making me a fan with the G3 releases. When I heard Joe Satriani tunes on the radio, I thought "that's cool", but did not realize the power behind the music until I saw the DVDs......keep them coming, can't get enough of a good thing!!! One question or thought I had, and this will be one of the few as I know there are alot of fans here.......did anyone ever consider including a cat named Frank Marino on a G3 tour???He is an ass kicking guitarist that never got the spotlight that I felt he deserved (except when he and his band Mahogany Rush was chosen to close to Cal Jam II festival in the late 70s). He seems to be giving up on his musical ambitions, it would be so cool to see him play and get some long overdue exposure and a G3 DVD. Just a thought. Rock on

Kingbee...welcome to the site...several of us went to see Frank at BB King's in NYC not too long ago...he's a great rock guitarist....I think Joe's selection of G3 participants might be somewhat tied to big box office draw, and I don't think he's got enough recent album sales to justify selection, but he would be a nice spice to add to the G3 pie....as many others that have been suggested here...Peace Out...Stevee T.

clarky thanks for getting back... after reading a little more perhaps it's a different david cross...? the info says dis:

david cross doing a little over an hour of standup at a club near atlanta. he starts out with singing a couple songs (as ainsley mctree) and goes into a very funny set where he talks about the south, his trip to turkey, religion, etc. good set, very much worth checking out if you are a david cross fan.

castle49 we listen to a classic rock station at work all through the shift... being an american radio station you can pretty much set your watch as to who is playing at what time, but Life's Been Good To Me is on a lot and i love it! :-)
on Zappa pure genius. you could study pretty much any of his albums for a long long time and still probably only scratch the surface... i once taped an old tv documentary back in england about him and dweezil was saying frank's ear was astonishing... he would be monitoring a jam / rehearsal in the control room at ear-bleeding levels... if anybody played an even slighty wrong note frank'd hear it immediately and "give them the look"... if you see the extras on vai's astoria dvd he too gives "the look" and "the eyebrow(s)"... he (admittedly) got that from frank... pure genius, RIP
EDIT: Everyone! learn more about smileys :-)

Hi all Hope you'll doing well Just wanted to ask anyone with a JS1000/1200 ARE the bodys as THIN as they look??? I saw a pick of one and thought how the hell can a body so thin have sucha full beautiful tone.

I know its down to amps/effects/etc as well but that guitar has susTAIN with all those capital letters.

And new on my guitarlessness My girlfriend wants to get me one for christmas... Now all i gotta do is talk her out of it lol

as much as i love her, and love her thoughtfulness i can't let her do that.

My first guitar was a birthday present so was my second..my beautiful RGT42 that got damaged.

But this time i need to earn a guitar (if someone hires me...aspergers syndrome ain't a thing people like to hear)

But anyways back on the JS subject I just watched the live in frisco dvd, i almost cried on Love Thing... won't be the first time i've broken tear over guitar...

Also people WATCH OUT on ebay... JEM7VWH selling on there for CHEAP in the 200GBP... Its MOST PROPABLY A FAKE... BE CAREFUL IF YOU BID I hate it when people get ripped off or scammed over a guitar its heartbreaking...

Peace people take care

Feel like a soggy toilet roll - no good to anyone!!!!

Got to go to work though, Thanks for all your help will get back to you all later. In the meantime this might make you laugh....

Bizarre complaints These are extracts from actual letters sent to various councils and Housing associations throughout the UK:

1. I want some repairs done to my cooker as it has backfired and burnt my knob off.

2. I wish to complain that my father hurt his ankle very badly when he put his foot in the hole in his back passage.

3. And their 18 year old son is continually banging his balls against my fence.

4. I wish to report that the tiles are missing from the outside toilet roof. I think it was that bad wind the other night that blew them off.

5. I am writing on behalf of my sink, which is coming away from the wall.

6. Will you please send someone to mend the garden path, my wife tripped and fell on it yesterday and now she is pregnant?

7. I request permission to remove my drawers in the kitchen. 50% of them are damp, 50% have crumbling plaster and the rest are plain filthy.

8. The toilet is blocked and we cannot bath the children until it is cleared.

9. Will you please send a man to look at my water? It is a funny colour and not fit to drink.

10. Our lavatory seat is broken in half and is now in three pieces.

11. I want to complain about the farmer across the road, every morning at 6:00am his cock wakes me up and its now getting too much for me.

12. The man next door has a large erection in the garden, which is unsightly and dangerous.

13. Our kitchen floor is damp. We have two small children and would like a third so please send someone round to do something about it.

14. I am a single woman living in a downstairs flat and would you please do something about the noise made by the man I have on top of me every night.

15. Please send a man with the right tool to finish the job and satisfy my wife.

16. I have had the clerk of the works down on the floor six times but I still have had no satisfaction.

17. My bush is really overgrown round the front and my back passage has fungus in it.

18. He's got this huge tool that vibrates the whole house and I just can't take it any more.

C U L8R LOL Hugs Satriella xx

PS. SUZIE- I'm Luke, I'm five and my dad's Bruce Lee and he's driving me round in his JCB ..ahhhhh Lovin it...Glad I'm not at school too...never mind CIVGEEK Not long to go, hope you do well!

Also to add something STU!!!! I mean...damn he really is a great player! Moonlight sonata on bass... i tried learning that on guitar when i first started playing... Ain't attempted it since lol :P I love classical music... LOVE classical...i only admit that here because my friends are "Death metal heads" or "punkers". None of my friends listen to anythin i do lol

'Also i'd like to qoute one of my friends stupidity... "Hendrix wasn't all that great...He was just black and high at the right time"

I almost KILLED this person who said that...

Hendrix was an awesome guitarist (RIP) and his IDOL who was Dimebag (Also RIP) he was partly influenced by hendrix.

Hendrix was a great blueist and a true musician....and i love that guy....He had a soothing voice as well... Anyone here seen woodstock vid of him playing?

Awesomeness at its most awesome

**PS that qoute was not made by me, but by a foolish person and it probably will bring offence to everyone who loves music. i just wish to say im just showing you how thick one of my friends is and i apologize on his behalf....for him being hollow....and if you wish to beat him with a large wet salmon i can tell you where he works :P**
