RIP John Lennon & Darrel Abbott

My grandpa received three purple hearts for his participation in WWII. One from Iwo Jima..another from Guadalcanal..not sure where he was when he earned his 3rd...but damn it..that deserves respect does'nt it? I support our forces because they're just doing what they're told to do. But I think our Mr. President has his head stuffed way way up his arse. 'Nuff said.....Peace, SD

ovation1 Thanks for the link again. From the list of shows they are playing, the reason his name sounds familiar to me is that he probably lives in the same area as me, not the same town, but very, very close.

Here's the first heartbreaking interview from Vinnie Paul - Dimebag's brother - since Dime's death ~

http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/player.jhtml?id=1517693

Also, at www.Pantera.com in the NEWS section, there is an article -

"Dec 8th, 2005 - DIMEBAG's Family To Sue Columbus Club Over Deadly Shooting: Video Available "

There is a link that shows video of the actual shooter running onstage - without seeing anyone get shot - you know what happened...

I need more fucking tissues....

js1200js1000 hello, i will tell you the reserve a little later :) but i painted that guitar for my high school senior project and all i did was paid for the primer, paint, clearcoat and all the other little extras you need..it costed just about $100, and because my mentor was my neighbor and was a pro painter he did most of it. I then spent close to 40 hours just sanding the clearcoat and buffing it to get the mirror finish! damn that lol. but i played midnight as part of my speech and that whole project got me an A, not very many people got As on their projects which was pretty cool. so yeah... its a cool guitar, i'm gonna miss it

Bob

oh yeah, i'm guessing if you didnt have someone you know paint it it would probably cost anywhere from 200 to 300 bucks.......

Man that whole Dimebag thing is just bad...it's a shame that some unbalanced wacko has to decide to bring his pain and bullshit on other innocents instead of trying to get some kinda help..we all have difficulties in life..but man..this guy killed a truly unique person...not to mention 3 others..it just goes to show you...you never know who could be around at any given moment..nothing seems sacred to some...not even life itself...we are all here today gone tommorrow...not to be a downer but...unessasary bloodshed pisses me off...!! Sorry Joe...you're the greatest in my book...!!

michelle.....I love it when you talk like that. All Kidding aside( probably not a good time for kidding) It is sad...very sad. FYI...The Dec. issue of Guitar World has a great tribute to Dime. Vinnie Paul is interviewed and there's great pics in there from birth to present day(2004)The center fold pic is of all his Dean guitars with all the battle scars from touring. The CD rom that comes with the zine has a video of the song "In This River" written by Zakk Wylde. It's no secret how close those guys were. It's really good.Check it out

Mikesb......Thanks for the link. Put it in my favorites. It's good to see "Blues" working on film and TV sessions. I read some of the FAQ. He really isn't planning on another instrumental cd. The economics involved and his current work load .....according to 'Blues" it wouldn't be worth it. Sad we are all governed by money in some way or another. But the good news is .....he's playin guitar and making a living at it. You can't beat that. I'm happy for him.

Folks:

Finally got rid of the XCP bug from my computer (which was installed from the G3 Live In Tokyo CD). I figure BESIDES hours of lost work I have over 34 hours involved in re-installing every single program in my comp, reinstalling Windows, etc.

Any idea what Sony intends to do to make up for this time and income lost?

peaceandguitars....no, I never did have any sit-downs with him about his experiences before he passed away. All I know is that his brother never made it back. And once when I was 10 or 11 he showed me his scars from the hits he took. As a matter of fact, my real grandfather was killed in France during the german occupation and is still buried there. My grandmother remarried after the war, so I never knew my biological grandfather. But her new husband did a great job being my grandpa until he died. Peace, SD

Hi everyone!

ovation1, thanks for the happy Constitution's Day :-)

Keniko: "Happy Constitution Day. Thanks for the poster links. Who is "Freak Kitchen" and "William Stravato" ? I've never heard of them."

Nice to hear your band is doing great! About William Stravato...he is a well-known guitarist in Italy. I only have one album "Cybertones", great fusion. His playing style suggests bits of Allan Holdsworth and Jeff Beck, splendid keyboard solos too. It's very worth it to listen to.

Linkies:

You can listen some clips here:

http://www.guitar9.com/cybertones.html

And this is his website: http://www.williamstravato.com/

If you like Allan Holdsworth, you will love it.

I can't tell you very much about Freak Kitchen. It's a Swedish band leaded by guitarist Mattias "IA" Eklundh, who records as a solo artist for Vai's Favored Nations. I only have listened to one song by this guitarist, "Apparatus" from the 2001 Favored Nations CD Sampler. The song is interesting with some weird guitar noises.

Freak Kitchen web: http://www.freakkitchen.com

Mattias "IA" Eklundh web: http://home.swipnet.se/freakguitar/

And thanks for the happy Constitution's Day :-)

962: "yesss! I'm so pleased I've got you into mr Timmons! I'm still really annoyed with myself that I didn't come out to Madrid to see that show.....I won't let the opportunity slide next time! I thoroughly recommend The Spoken And The Unspoken to you also, as it's loaded with amazing tracks you will never have heard and are missing out on!"

OK Simon, "The Spoken And The Unspoken" next album I'm gonna buy! What I love the most about Andy Timmons is that there's a lot of energy in his playing. It seems like he's having fun and he wants us to enjoy his playing as well! Andy plays with emotion, technique, and such a good taste during the entire album... My personal favorite song on the "That Was Then, This is now" CD is "Beautiful, Strange". And I'm afraid I'm going to buy all the albums and see him when he comes too!

Satriella: "Thanks for your input too - you are one blessed gal!! I don't think any of the places on the tickets are near my mum, she is between Malaga and Gibraltar right down the bottom of Spain. (here I go with my technical talk again!) Thanks for the face explanation too, I can't believe someone asked Steve to his face - did he laugh or cry 8=}

My pleasure :-) perhaps next year's edition includes some dates in Andalucia, we'll see...let's touch wood. About the question to Steve about his funny faces...he has a great sense of humor so it was so much fun!

bahduh, I hope your little baby recovers health very soon, he is in my thoughts and prayers. Sorry I couldn't reply to your mails appropriately...I'll reply asap. Take care :-)

Suzie2000, the videoclip is simply sweet!

Have a nice weekend everyone!

R.I.P. John Lennon & Dimebag Darrell
