Ovation1: Well, the ex Berklee guy I talked to, put me off in a couple of ways. First, he made it perfectly clear that he feels that teaching is just something musicians do to make money, and that it's all just a bunch of bs. This hurts me, because I take teaching very seriously, and I can see how my philosophies about the guitar, and my methods have influenced my students. I can also see how they have taken my ideas and created their own voice, so I have a big problem with his ideas about that. The other thing, is he told me that if I wanted to understand bebop improvization, that I needed to read "The Art of The Fueg" about Bach. I thought this was corny, and any bop player I've talked to has basically said"....hmm seems like bach chordal movement and Charlie Parker's stuff are two different things to me." He just seemed to be full of crap. Now, that doesn't mean that there aren't probably good teachers there that believe in the power of teaching. I would tell you though, that if you don't end up going to Berklee, you shouldn't feel like you'll be a bad player. There are plenty of players that are amazing all over the place, that you can get lessons from. Remember, I don't think Vai or Petrucci is brilliant because of Berklee.....I think they were brilliant and driven in spite of Berklee. I mean, I don't think Vai was even there for more than a year. Anyway, that's the gist of everything.

marimariSRV, I know you didn't write the stuff in that e-mail you forwarded, so don't take offence, but it's a load of bullshit! Yeah all the actors of the WWII era were proud of their country and wouldn't have made any anti-american political gestures, but they didn't have George W Bush as their president.
It's all different now.....trying to make a comparison between todays actors and those of 60 years ago, and trying to say that the political standings of Hollywood's finest today is wrong, is just kind of bitter. I think it's great that people have the balls to stand up and say something that they know will not make them popular. And hey, what's the motto...."Land of the free" or something? Yeah, right.
Again, this is not directed at you....but I just don't know who started the mail in the first place so I put it up for general discussion!
Satriella, looks like a cool enough list! Then when you've got over the initial shock of how amazing Andy Timmons is you could get The Spoken And The Unspkoen as well ;-) hehe, seriously though, I'm sure you'll love everything on that list. If you don't like Andy or EJ, let me know and I'll buy 'em off you!

Joe - whats your best and worst mements on stage? We would love you no matter happened!!!!
Gotta have Joe - ANYBODY who wants to do anything goes through feelings of "I can't do it" and "I'm not good enough", but if you love it, let the moment pass and start again with more passion than ever! You will get there.
Blue Moon - Sympathies or should that be sniffathies or coughathies, whatever......colds just make you feel rubbish!
Get well soon.
962 - Now you have spoken that's it - that will be my shopping list for the next time I go to the big town... probably won't be till january now though...still thanks to you I have hours of good listening...ahhhh what...oh no next door has decided to do some drilling...betta go put DT right now!!!!
Hugs Satriella xx

962: You are correct....... I didn't write that shit. However I did write the shit about honoring & respecting those that have fought for & given thier lives for me & my Country. I mean every word of that........... They deserve Respect & Honor.
I bow to them.
