Strings usually break right at the saddle, which can be very useful if you dont cut the other ends off the string, you can simply re-use the same string. But most people (including myself) dont like the sound of old dull strings, I have to replace mine every week or two because of the sweat (lol) the strings are black and sound like c*** within a week.

whats the best method for putting new strings on i feed them thru where u tune them till there tight but got room to move then snip the end off , and tune accordingly, I see some guys wind there strings for ages and have the ends hanging out, which i think is dangerous on stage,u could poke some ones eyes out

Hi Joe! Sorry to hear that you didn't have a very good time in Vancouver. I hope everything has been solved with the stuff you've been dealing with. It is a very rainy city. You know, everytime I hear your song: I like the rain, it cheers me up, at least that helps! otherwise it's depressing. I don't know if you remember me. my name is Gabriella and I was at the Guitar Workshop Plus. If you would like to come to Whistler with your family someday I wil be very happy to be your host I just changed my tel number, and I think I wrote my last name in the business card I handed to you from last August 17, so if you would like to know my new tel num. please feel free to do so through the 411 directory assistance: Gabrielle S. Please visit the website which is on the business card. I hope you still have it. In case if you are interested on staying in Whistler, You can do some bookings through my husband Victor, or through my sister in law Heidi. I would love to hear from you!!!

p.s Thank you very much for being such a nice and humble person. The Lord Jesus Bless You and your Wife and Son as well !!!

Gabrielle S. (I like Gabriella better):)

I was surfing around on the Japanese Ibanez website the other day, and came across these:

http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/products/accessories/page/picks_basic.html http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/products/accessories/page/picks_body_color.html http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/products/accessories/page/picks_grip_wizard.html http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/products/accessories/page/picks_metallic.html

A few of these (The Vai'Gilbert/most of the Rubber Grip) are available here in the USA, but most of these are not. Does anyone know where they can be ordered? I suspect most US dealers won't bother with the effort involved to get them from a Japanese Ibanez rep/distributor. I can't read Japanese, and Google/Babelfish usually isn't very helpful when it comes to translating Japanese sites.

Mikey-San, can you get most of those models in your neck of the woods?

Hi all,

Just dropped in to see how everyone is and what I may have missed.

Opinions - should I consider changing the pickups in my Jackson DKMG from EMG somethings (not the top end ones) to a joe set???

aussieRGman.... 1st off i'm glad to hear she's copping as best she can !! 2nd i personally set my strings in the saddle first then thru the nut then use the three finger method as not to have to wind the string for a week. when you set the string into the tunerpeg( don't wind yet, just thred) only leave apx. 2-2.5 inches of gap/slack from the fretboard, i.e.pulling the string up vertically from fretboard, this allows you to get enough wounds on the tunerpeg-without slipping too much- but not have too much excess then cut the excess/ hanging string after you ruff tune, lock nut, fine tune BAM done , but you might want to play hard and whammy and bend strings before finally fine tuning as to set the string and get rid of new string slipage. LOL MT

civgeek... that'll save some bucks... me it's always the 'e' 2 the saddle .. lol MT

satriella ... hello lady... slam-a-toucious hugs LOL MT

To All.... MERRY CHRISTMAS LOL MT

Strings..... Only change em when the gauge has doubled from grunge (not talkin about the musical style imparted on the strings here but the real stuff)

Hmmm wonder if that is how "grunge" got its moniker??? Poor musicians unable to afford new strings....

When I am feeling particularly lazy I just pretend I have a six string bass and try to do a John Patitucci thing lol

Stevee T: Real fluid and kuul melodies on Mystical March, and I like the way you flow through the song.... Nice marching rhythm, lol, your working the trance in there bro.... Like the title suggests, it is a march.... And I feel the march..Nice work!....

Powerslave214: Hey dude, I know those IBY pic's, lol, 1.0mm etc.... My git shop carries them in spurts, and I'll let you know when I see them again; they are pretty cheap, and maybe there is a dealer out there who sells them.... I'll see what I can find out next time I head out to the shop (It's Xmas season, so it may take awhile, lol).... BTW, Gilberto/VAI are easy to get, but Satch is a commodity!!!!.... Dunno why, especially since JOE taught in Kyoto (dunno how many months) in his early days....

Later peeps....

Well I'm happy to say that [br} I PASSED ALL MY CLASSES!!
Not the best of grades (2-Bs and 3-Cs) but considering the work load (18 class hours a week), the course topics, and my schedule, I'm frikin happy.
Next on the docket is Structural Analysis (should be fun), Environmental Analysis (bad teacher), and Hydrology (flow is flow). Should be a good quarter.

Good Morning Satch Fans.... How R U ?

SteveeT...... I called the club yesterday and they still do the jams on the first Tue. of the month. I forgot to ask about the streaming and the camera. I'll be talking to the owner soon and I'll keep you informed. Thanks for your interest. Take Care.

Aussie.....Thanks for your comments on our drummer. It's been a long time coming. This is what I do when restringing my axe. I put the string through the tuning peg. I go 11/2 pegs up on the string and bend it at 90 degrees. I pull the string back to the peg so the bend is at the hole in the post. Then I wrap the string over the top of the string keeping tension on the string to keep the wrap tight as I wind the post with the crank( best invention ever. Simple but very effective)What you're doing is locking the string to the post and keep it form slipping. Click here : http://www.fender.com/support/setup/stratsetup.php#top Hope this helps. It works for me.

Have A GReat Day Everyone ! ! !

Edit....Civgeek....Congratulations. I'm happy for you. What's your Major?

Keniko - Civil Engineering. I'm trying to be like Mikesb. lol That string wrap is the technique I use on the classical guitar. For the electric, I like to have more extra at the top.

Civgeek - way to go man! CONGRATS on passing!!

TODAY'S RECOMMENDATION FOR EVERYONE ~~

Listen to VAN HALEN'S self titled cd at full volume!!

This is one of the most kick ass cd's ever recorded! It has some of the best guitar work ever, and is just as mind blowing today as it was back in '79 or '80 when I heard it for the first time. It dropped my jaw then, and it still does to this day. Eruption is still a #1 for instrumentals. If you don't get goosebumps on your goosebumps everytime you listen to it, seek medical attention immediately!

SOTD - ATOMIC PUNK

F**KING AWESOME!!!

;-)

waaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the AtOmIc PuNk!!!!!!!!
