"Unauthorised use of lyrics and tablature deprives the songwriter of the ability to make a living, and is no different than stealing". how does that work then? me singing along to britney on the radio using lyrics i got online deprives her of the ability to make a living? you guys playing along to satch boogie or for the love of god in order to better your guitar playing using tabs you found onilne deprives joe &/or steve of the ability to make a living? i don't understand... thanks for the heads up, Al, i don't use tabs, but it sure sucks for a lot of you guys...

EDIT: supaa i'd try if before and after the DS1 and see which you prefer - boosting the input to the DS1 with the TS or boosting the input to the TS with the DS1... i wouldn't recommend putting anything after a delay pedal though... good luck, let us know how you get on! :-)

Yeah i know its completly stupid about the tab things, U will need a licence to play guitar or listen to the radio at this rate, im sure they will find a loophole,

But I dont understand how peoples representations of the songs and how they think its played is against the law, Its not on if u ask me, it costs like 30$ for a tab book of the album for what maybe a few notes, those books are never 100% correct, and not easy to get expecially for a lot of bands, this is gone one step to far, and pisses me off big time >:(

I know powertab, one of the best ones has tabs from people who say its from teh tab book, But surely people who dont say that are ok

>:(

Apparently one guitar shop in the UK has had an example made of them and have to pay a fine or something so that people can go into the guitar shop and test play the guitars, because everywhere people are playing other peoples songs like Satch, Vai, and ofcourse Smoke on the water lol...and the people sueing them have said theyre counting it as a performance. :-S

Ovation1, haha, Vulgar Boatman is a sure contender for my favourite Paul Gilbert tune......the solo is too raunchy to be true. And I love the fact that most people will use a bunch of pinch harmonics for expression, but Paul uses it for the entire melody! haha, it kicks so much ass. Gregg Bissonette is such an amazing player, I'd love to see him play!

Satriella, haha, I loved the format of your response! Yeah I don't like Powerhouse much any more, I want to re-record it but it'll take so much effort! And you're right, a new name wouldn't be a bad idea, I'd just as well have caled it "Dixons" or "Currys". hahahaha :-D

Yeah I've read the darwin awards, that's some hilarious reading! Actually I remember one really funny one about a guy who went to a ski slope and pulled the massive foam crash pad off one of the pylons that supports the ski lift. he hauled it up to the top of the mountain and rode back down onto it, crashing into the pylon he'd stolen it from, and broke his neck and died! I know, we shouldn't laugh, but oh the irony!

Creative Zen Nano is a little 1GB Mp3 player about the size of a Zippo lighter. It'll only hold a few hundred songs, but that's all I need it for. It has a "synchronised line-in" function. This basically means you use a little cable (supplied with it) and connect the player to your Hi-Fi or whatever else.

You play a CD on your Hi-Fi and while it plays, the MP3 player records it live. The synchronised bit simply means the MP3 player synchronises itself with the signal coming from the CD player so it catches all the splits between tracks, and doesn't miss out any bits of songs.

I haven't actually used it 'cause there's no need, but yeah, I assume you plug one end of the lead into the headphones socket on your Hi-Fi/TV/Computer/whatever, and the other end of the lead goes into the MP3 Player.

Anyway, I'm not entirely sure how you do the whole thing with recording vinyl to PC with a normal computer. It's easy for me 'cause I have a computer set up specially for recording music.

My dad used to use a program for recording his vinyl onto the PC but I don't know what it was called. If I can find the disc I'll let you know though.

I know he had to get a new record player with a certain type of line-out function or connection or something, and I know it was a very, very long process. I would almost feel inclined to suggest that you get somone else to do it.....they'd charge you for it, like, 10 quid per album, but it's a whole lot easier.

I occasionally see somebody advertising this service in my local paper, so I'm sure you'd have no trouble finding someone who could do it!

Yeah I found skiing pretty easy.....it's a lot more forgiving than skating if you do screw up, 'cause the snow is nice and soft. Snowboarding was a different kettle of fish though! haha, not doing that again!

Sorry folks, I've been doing a whole lot of writing today haven't I?! haha.

civi...congratulations on surviving AND passing this term! I well remember the complete relief I felt at the end of every term......and how the days in between terms with NO school or homework to think about were absolutely GOLDEN! LOL!!!! I hope you enjoy the holidays with your family.....hmmm, I sorta miss not being able to insult each other in the chat though.........dammit!! That's left such a hole in my life....... :( lol!

peaceandguitars, Merry Christmas to you! It is indeed a lovely time of year...you hang onto the joy in life, k?

Hmmmmm....favorite 3 Satch albums. Easier to answer than favorite 3 songs....of course, love em all, but my top 3 would have to be EOC, the self titled Joe Satriani, annnnnnnnnnnd....can I have a tie for the third? Flying in a Blue Dream/Extremist/Is There Love in Space/Strange Beautiful Music. I do love all the other albums, but I find myself listening to this group the most....sigh...I'm cheating aren't I? Ah well...top 6 then! Soon to be top 7 I'm sure, with the release of the new album coming up!

Everyone in the ice-storm areas stay home if ya can and be safe, and if ya have to go out in this mess, be careful!! :)

8 days to Cheesemas......

JOE!!! Whatcha want for Christmas this year? Hope you're having a lovely holiday break with your family by now....love to you, ZZ and Rubina!

wow this world is turning into a big soap opra...., i bet you metallica whinned again that people are playing their songs at home without their permission and they demand they get paid for every song that is played on a persons guitar! i bet you soon enough someone will complain that we are breathing too much of the earths air and we will all have to go out and buy oxygen bottles and masks or we will be banished from the planet or put to death! what a funny planet we all live on.
