joe, this may sound kind of strange, but i want to assure you i have zero motives. i just wanted to say "thank you" for giving me and my son tyler some common musical ground to enjoy as father and son. i picked up on you while i was serving in the army in the late eighties and have been a fan ever since. my son started borrowing my cd's of your music as soon as he had his own cd player. as years progressed i think he'd bought every cd you made. your stuff always seemed to find its way in his rotation of music. the reason i have such heartfelt thanks to you, is the memories i will always have of tyler and i listening together, or dicussing which song we liked. tyler joined the army january 2005, got hooked up with 101st airborne division, and was later sent to iraq. unfortunately just this november 2nd 2005, he and two other soldiers were killed by an ied. i was devasted, and almost gave up playing guitar for the rest of my life.(sorry, i dont mean to bum you out!) but i realized if i did tyler would not of wanted that. he would want me to continue. so needless to say here i am. i will always have great and wonderful memories everytime i hear your songs. and its wonderful therapy for me. dont ever underestimate just how much your music touches us who have the honor of hearing it! tyler believed highly in what he was doing, and wanted the iraqi people to have a chance to enjoy the same freedom he had experienced in twenty short years. i honor him everytime our band plays, and im getting my strat painted as a tribute to him. also i tried the jsx combo this week and deciced to get one as it is the most awesome amp i've ever heard in the 30 years i've been playing. i can see no other fitting way to honor and tribute my son than having a little part of that satch connection in my music as well. joe thanks again for just being you!!!...........DAVEMETAL

FOR JOE SATRIANI HIMSELF...JUST A BRIEF THANKS

Joe,

I was just listening to "Is There Love..." and was thinking back to when I first started listenting to your music and, given the holiday spirit and all, wanted to say thanks for all the years (going on 20 now) of sincere pleasure that your art has brought to my life. I first started listening in 1987 to "Surfing..." on a suggestion from a friend, and it literally changed my life...My friend and I were listening to it on the way home from a movie and literally had to stop, pull over, and listen because it was unlike anything we had ever heard and were enraptured by your music...It made me learn guitar, which lead to joining a band, which lead to getting a minor record deal, etc...I often wonder how my life would be different had I not made that purchase....Maybe way different, maybe not, but definitely lesser for not having heard your music and craft...Merry X-Mas and thank you more than words can express for what you have brought to me through your music...

DAVEMETAL, so sorry for the loss of your son..my heart goes out to you and your family. I can't imagine your pain.

Satriella, I can't say if yer on something as only u can say that, but we are a strange lot around here...yer just now waking up to that fact!! That means you've stuck around long enough to notice...time to start fitting in more....so start getting stra-ya-yannnnnge....... :)

Bob...hold firm on your price. Those guitars go for $700 brand new without all the extras you did to it, so your reserve price is pretty darn reasonable!

Mari, just got yer email...soooooo, TSO on Saturday!! You lucky duck!!! I can only imagine at this point, but I think you are going to have an AMAZING time!! Be sure to tell us all about it!! Oh, and d-r-i-v-e- c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y girlie!! :)

The G3 concerts are a lot of fun but I do believe something different should happen. I mean Steve Vai and Joe Satriani is a wonderful idea and is so much fun to watch, but Ingwie Malmsteen and John Petrucci are not adequate for this type of show. Eric Johnson was very different (a great thing!). And that's what the G3 needs. You need someone like Ron Thal. He is a great musician, guitarist and so much fun and I am sure all three parties can only gain from it. Of course I am talking for DVD recording especially because I do feel the G3 concerts that were not filmed might have been the most fun. Just a suggestion. Hope you find it illuminating.

Slansh: Thanks man! I actually pick right under the neck humbucker (for tone reasons) so a piezo would probaby be fine. I don't know too much, but I was told that piezos enable you to get individual midid info for each string which you can do different things with compared to the info you get on a hexaphonic pu like the roland system. I'm not sure if this is true though. The thing I've always wanted to do with midi, is to take the 6 strings of the guitar and set the midi data to be panned evenly (left to right) across the field. This would be great to use with a standard lead tone, hearing the notes jump around the spectrum as they cross strings. It would also bea neat way to record chord ideas.
