Double-Mouthed Fish Pulled From Neb. Lake

LINCOLN, Neb. - This fish didn't have a chance. A rainbow trout pulled out of Holmes Lake last weekend had double the chance to get hooked: It had two mouths.

Clarence Olberding, 57, wasn't just telling a fisherman's fib when he called over another angler to look at the two-mouthed trout. It weighed in at about a pound.

"I reached down and grabbed it to take the hook out, and that's when I noticed that the hook was in the upper mouth and there was another jaw protruding out below," said Olberding.

He said in his 40 years of fishing, he's never seen anything like it.

Don Gabelhouse, head of the fisheries division of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, said a two-mouthed fish was new to him, too.

"It's probably a genetic deformity," he said. "I don't think there's anything wrong with it."

The second mouth didn't appear to be functional, Olberding said. He has plans for the fish, which don't included mounting.

"I'm going to smoke it up and eat it," he said.

Hey Joe...haven't posted on here in years. Been through college now and had a very interesting topic that you may be able to shed some light on. In my last theory class we talked about impressionism and 12 tone rows and matrices. Now, most people when they hear this music immediately shut it off. Here's my question....do you think that this is purely because humans were programmed that a tri-tone sounds horrible? or that a minor third sounds consonant? Is music purely what we've been programmed to like all this time? Its more philosophical i guess than musical, but an interesting topic, nonetheless...everyone speak.....

Nonprofit facts

http://www.guidestar.org/

Donating money to nonprofit organizations can be tricky. Let's say you want to give money to fight heart disease. If you give to nonprofit organization A, exactly how much goes to the cause and how much to administrative costs?

Today's site gives that information. Enter a name into the database and find out a nonprofit's revenue, expenses, assets and liabilities.

peaceandguitars....I love the music in that movie...especially the last half hour or so of it...and a great movie to boot !

My favorite Satch album would have to be "Crystal Planet"...with LISF right behind it.

Gotta like that "Donnie" guitar strap....I certainly will own it very soon...

Webmaster...thanks for the update and fixin' things...we know you're busy being a new daddy.....me too !!! peace, SD

Hi Satchland!

Satriella, you are not alone :-) The love is gone...don't you think it's time to pamper yourself? To be ready for a new love, a new better one...keep the faith and let life flourish...when you are at your best you will attract the best ;-)

What is better to have been loved and lost or never have been loved...?

Lots of love and good vibes from Madrid to you :-)

marimariSRV, I would love to attend a TSO or another interesting gig at the other side of the Pond! I'm beginning to have the pleasure of traveling for music. Anyway I'm thinking about going to America next summer... and once you cross the Pond for the first time it's easier to plan a winter escape...we'll see :-) And about our video swaps...as a last resort, yeah, I'll go to a photography center to put the VHS-PAL tapes into CD and I'll take the opportunity to make copies for myself too, so it will be cool anyway :-)

cheese101, thanks Tracie! I try to give my best to be understandable ;-) :-)

bahduh, hi, I really hope Jordan's gift arrives tomorrow...we need divine intervention in it...if not, it will be a belated Christmas gift but Jordan will enjoy it too...I'll mail you later...have a wonderful Christmas holidays!

962, Simon, the latest hot news about Steve Vai...in his own words past wednesday in a radio show: Double CD & DVD of The Aching Hunger in April 2006 probably! Woo hoo!

A new webcast of Joe in early February! Hurray! That's great news!!!

The spirit of Christmas is beautiful, it's love, it's joy, it's peace, it's time for giving with more emotion... and when the emotional feeling of Christmas is not pleasure and it's pain, it's hard...but it's good to try to embrace that universal sweetness, an emotional sweetness that even those who know nothing of Christ can enjoy...

Merry Christmas to Joe & everyone at Talk to Joe.
