Hi guys...
I need to stop posting "I'm back..." messages, hanging around for a weekend or two, and then disappearing for a few months. I really do think I'm back this time, though...for good. :-)
I've gone through a lot of stuff recently...I'm sure you'll all hear about it in due time. But for now...I have a new job at the local newspaper (the "real" newspaper in Long Beach, not the one at school), I'm in a new apartment, and I've just started my last semester of college. Woohoo!
Anyway, I glanced through some old posts...it's good to see a lot of familiar people. I'll go through posts from the past few days and try to jump into some of the discussions if I can.
One last thing... Is anyone going to the Dream Theater gig at the Radio City Music Hall in New York on 4/1? I'm flying in for the gig...it should be awesome... :-)

Hey Joe ........ I know I have asked before about this but i just want to get one or two things straight...........
I asked about an LP I bought about 2/3 weeks ago and I had a reply from a guy on the Forum site called Nikos saying that you said.........
"Nikos,
Yes, that is my inscription to my wife on those records. It's something that is done when the original vinyl is first cut at mastering.
Best wishes,
Joe"
now dose this apply for the master of each album done on LP or was there more than one of each album that has this on it..............
Put simply I have Dreaming #11 on LP and it has scratched into it "JOE LOVES RUBINA", now do i have the master copy of Dreaming #11 (One of a kind?) or are there more out there??????????
P.S Please check out my previous post's about the last Contest Give Away
Stay Safe,
Dave

Okay...I read through posts from the past two days or so. It's cool that, even though I've been more or less away from the site for a year, T2J is still the same awesome place. It's also a bit weird that after being gone for a year I still have a few hundred posts more than some other regulars, but that's something else entirely...hehehe. ;-)
Is there any big Satch news I'm missing out on? I've heard the Nascar music, I know the new album should be out around 3/14, and Joe will be hitting the road with Eric Johnson. Is there anything else...?

Hey Joe,
Hows it goin dude. I checked out a webcast video of you playing in CA last year. It was so cool. Ive been playing for 6 years, am 19 years old and just getting familiar with the Lydian, Miloxidyian and the pitch axis tips i found on the web off you. You inspired me to record my own version of the American National anthem even though i am Irish and live in the UK!! Hows that! I let my cousin in NJ hear it, he's a professional photographer and commentator and he said if i went to the sates he'd get me to play it at a minor league baseball game. That would be the most amazing experience of my life. I saw you on the video after you nailed it at the Mets/Giants game and you said 'That was cool!'. One question for you Joe. I practice about 2 hours a day, im a student aswell so it's hard to always find time. Is it better to sit down and learn the Dorian, Lydian, Phyrgian, Miloxidyian etc or is there a better way to go about learning the sclaes that have helped you become so succesful? Thanks buddy. Would be a dream come true to hear from you. Chris.

Hey Joe, just by chance if you happen to read this message, what was your motivation for writing "The Mighty Turtle Head"? I just got done listning to Time Machine, and I liked the overall uh... "loopy" layout of the song. So hey Reply back if ya get the time.

njbeast - I think it's more correct to say that you have a "first pressing" of Dreaming #11. An album may go on to sell several million copies, but record companies usually don't print more than a few hundred thousand (or maybe one million) copies at first. If those first copies sell well, then they print more.
With Dreaming #11, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that the number they printed at first was only a few thousand. I'd imagine that entire first run has the inscription on it. I know Led Zeppelin did stuff like that with some of their records.
Sometimes other things change after the first edition (new cover art, corrected typos, etc.). It makes the originals very popular collector's items, as you can imagine.
Stevee T - Clark Kent? I look a bit dorky, but I'm not THAT bad...am I? ;-) And it'd be cool to turn into SuperStu or something like that, but I don't think I have any special powers. Oh well.
marimariSRV - No, I wasn't able to make it to NAMM this year. I wouldn't've been able to get in anway. If you come out for the convention next year, be sure to drop me a line so we can meet up for lunch or something again.
cheese101 - No, I won't be making it to the San Francisco DT gig. I'm seeing them in Los Angeles the night before, though.
The trip to New York is sort of a belated (very belated...almost two years late) 21st birthday present from my parents. They said they'd take me on a trip somewhere...wherever I wanted to go. New York is an awesome city and Dream Theater is an awesome band, so it makes sense. ;-) And the fact that the show will be recorded for a CD/DVD makes it even better...
I would consider making a trip up north for a Satriani / EJ show, if my work and school schedules allow it. I'll let you know...
bluebuffalo - Cool...where are you working / what do you do?
