Well...I'm off to figure out two songs:
(1)Racer X/Paul Gilbert - B.R.O.
(2)Pain of Salvation - Nihil Morari (the one part of this song will take me longer than figuring out all of B.R.O.!) You'd have to hear it or see them play it live to see what I'm talking about. On their DVD 'Be' they even have an extra called 'Nihilium Fuckupus' where the guitar player messes up and had no chance of covering it up. The drummers face was priceless... after it.

Anyone here a fan of Paul Gilbert? I'm thinking of picking up a few CD's of his (not Racer X, I already have all the Racer X CD's I want.) I bought Spaceship One last year, in my opinion, that CD sucked! So bad that I even returned it! That's the 2nd CD I've ever returned, the 1st was Thin Lizzy's 'One Night Only (live)', which was a disgrace to Thin Lizzy. Back to Paul Gilbert, any recommendations? I like the heavy element of his playing, just listen to B.R.O. Spaceship One sucked so bad because it didn't even sound like Paul Gilbert at all, it sounded like I turned the radio on and was listening to the kind of crap the radio plays over and over!

Hey All,
How's everyone doing? Been a few days, but I just wanted to drop a line or two and say:
1. Really looking forward to Joe's new CD... I see he used George Marino for the mastering again... I thought the job George did on ITLIS? was outstanding!! And of course Mike Fraser's mixing is top notch as well... should sound slamtastic!
2. OME - Just dropped vote # 46 for you. Good luck, man!!
3. alter_ego_of_joe, and anyone else who's interested in getting your music out there - You can also check out http://www.indie911.com, http://www.isound.com, http://nowhereradio.com, and http://www.songplanet.com (I actually got airplay through these guys - definitely check them out!)
As for me, I'm still waiting on my CD's from the plant... should be out by the end of the month for those of you who asked. If anyone else is interested, you can check out http://www.dcslater.com for samples and more info.
Keep rockin' everybody,
-DC Slater

Joe - Thanks for posting the news update. I can't wait to hear what you sound like with Dave LaRue playing behind you. I became a big fan after seeing him on the G3 2001 tour. I've seen him a few times since then with the Dixie Dregs...he does not disappoint.
I listened to some of those Particle clips...I like what I hear. I'd definitely go to your gig with them on February 24, but I already have a ticket to see Lenny Kravitz and Aerosmith in Anaheim that night (oh, what luck). Where did you first hear about Particle?
Thanks again for the update...
gruskada - Yeah, school and work (at the school paper) got extremely busy right around the time I did the interview with Joe. We were busy with student senate stuff (elections, campaign violations, people stealing school newspapers, etc.)...it was a fun time ;-), but I meant I just didn't have the time to come by here. Then I got really into a girl over the summer, but that ended in just about the worst way possible...LOL.
Anyway...I'm back now. ;-) About the interview with Joe, well, it was such an amazing experience. I had met him a few times before, so I sorta knew what to expect. But I think the coolest part of everything was the few minutes I spent talking to Joe before it started, while Jon was still setting up the cameras. I asked Joe a few questions about his time in Australia, and him playing down there somehow led to me telling Joe about the two U2 concerts I had just seen at the time. He was really interested in hearing about them; it was cool.
To comment on another part of your post, I don't think ITLIS? was ever released in SACD/5.1 format.
Zinc Master - "I am not too fond of change - but willing to look though."
Well, install it and play around with it for a few days. Customize it to your heart's content and see if you like it. If not, well, it's extremely easy to uninstall and delete (much easier than IE, haha).

I was a Platinum member for one of Joe's shows - great experience.
I am not sure as to the limit per show - but I think there were about 20 or so of us at my show.
They are not from this site - they were purchased through Fanfire - who ran the program for Joe.
I would recommend it to those who can afford it.

Guitaremiester, if you didn't like Spaceship One you won't like anything else of Paul's solo record collection.
js1200js1000, chad bro, I just got finished on your first installment of tutorial stuff! I should think I'll get it in the mail on monday since I wont have a chance tomorrow. I'd imagine it'll arrive within 10 days of me mailing it so you should recieve within the next week and a half, maybe sooner, I don't know, cuz I've never posted anything to Canada!
Any problems are questions, just e-mail me (airman_siro@yahoo.co.uk) 'cause I won't be around here much. Take it easy buddy!

962 Thanks for the reply. I was looking at reviews on Amazon.com for Paul's solo albums, most of the reviews said most of his CD's were more 'pop' sounding. I respect Paul as a musician, but I could not believe when I bought one of his solo albums. In my opinion, it was horrible, and on top of it all, such cheesy lyrics!? Huge difference, it's unbelievable.

CuppaJoe - If you hear about the packages as soon as they become available, you won't have trouble getting one. Some of them (especially the ones in the bigger markets, like Los Angeles) sell out in less than a week. But if you keep checking satriani.com, you shouldn't miss out. I think there are usually anywhere from one to two dozen of the higher-end packages available per tour date.
Suzie2000 - I have a PC right now...the same one I've had for 4 1/2 years. I've upgraded my RAM and video card, but that's about it.
I used a Mac at work when I was at the school newspaper, and I'm using one now at my new job. They just make things SO much easier. I was thinking about asking for a new Mac laptop for Christmas this past year, but when I heard about the move to Intel chips I decided to wait. Maybe I'll talk my parents into getting me one as a graduation gift...if they have a good Intel one by then.
Getting a Mac really makes the most sense for me now. I don't play computer games as much as I used to, so I don't really NEED a PC. I go on the internet, watch DVDs, and download music (legal live recordings through BitTorrent sites). That's about it. I can easily do all of that with a Mac, and not have to deal with viruses and Microsoft and all that crap.
And besides...widgets are just so freakin' cool. :-)

Seeing the news just made my week!
Dave Larue has no equal when it comes to playing bass in any sort of ensemble.(Of course, Manring and Wooten are king in the solo instrument medium, but...)
Cannot wait for the tour!
