Just checked out Joe's new CD cover, kinda strange looking, but it'll probably be a bit better than the small pic on that site. As for the name, 'Super Colossal', I have nothing against it, other than it reminding me of some sort of special hamburger you could get at Burger King or something...

Grandma's birth control pills

The doctor that had been seeing an 80-year-old woman for most of her life finally retired. At her next checkup, the new doctor told her to bring a list of all the medicines that had been prescribed for her.

As the young doctor was looking through the! se, his eyes grew wide as he realized she had a prescription for birth control pills.

"Mrs. Smith, do you realize these are BIRTH CONTROL pills? "Yes, they help me sleep at night"

"Mrs. Smith, I assure you there is absolutely NOTHING in these that could possibly help you sleep!"

She reached out and patted the young Doctor's knee.

"Yes, dear, I know that.! But every morning, I grind one up and mix it in the glass of orange juice that my 16 year old granddaughter drinks................................. And believe me, it helps me sleep at night."

You gotta LOVE Grandmas

Tonight...tune into www.hardrockradiolive.com at 7pm CST, I will be playing what everyone loves most....Satriani and more...so tune in and tune your guitars up for 2 hours of rock.
DeanZ It's been years since I checked the tab, and it is an 8th fret pulloff......it can be worked up to, but hay...like Joe says, play it your own way, why would you wanna play it note 4 note. If I ever cover a Joe song in a live show, I usually just play something close, trying to play everything note 4 note never really turned me on, why copy?

mthead, yer welcome for the studio link...

SupaaDave, my link was for the studio pics...Zinc gave a link for the album cover and name....whaddya think of it?

Cuth, my guess is the 13 songs will be whittled down to 10 or 11 at most. I'm thinking 10...and I'm betting the crowd chant song is the one Joe was telling us in the chat about, that everyone will have to learn... :D

Zinc, thanks bunches for the link for the magazine cover, can't wait! I have to do the video at home though, no Quicktime at work >:( Lol....something to look forward to at the end of the work day!!

Guitarmeister, DT April 1st when they're filming for a DVD??? Lucky you!!! I'm sure you'll have a great time...my son and I are looking forward to seeing them in San Fran March 11th...it'll be our first time to see them live.... :)))

I feel it....excitement getting bigger and bigger every day towards the new album....Feb magazine cover for guitar tips....wanta bet another March or April Joe cover for some other guitar mag with the new cd release??? YEAH BAYBEE!!

Hiya chelly....smilies!

Joe is only on the first few minutes of the quicktime video - says a few words, begins his song, then it goes to another person.

It is just a sneak peak . . . the anticipation of March 14.

I'd be willing to bet anything...that the pics that are out showing Joe's new cover..is not that at all...If anything it could be inner sleeve material...but not the cover itself..don't buy in to that..trust me...Joe's label is Sony...they aren't leaking jack...!! it's just a teaser.

i agree - those are keys, and the 7/8 is a time signature... probably just working titles

I must admit that knowing that a song will be in a 7/8 time signature intrigues me:)

HA! Bob, that's funny...it DOES look like Joe is playing with a lil green alien guy, but actually, if you look at the other photos, it's part of the graphics on his shirt.

And I agree with Phrydom (which I know means u'll be able to sleep tonight now Phry, LOL)....those are prolly only working titles for the songs......from other pics I've seen of Joe's past studio time, he tends to do that....and then names them later. Some things stay, from the studio names, but most are changed....

And sooner or later, Joe &/or Jon will give us updates on everything...we just have to be patient...but it's hard....

Speaking of patience, fixed the chat yet Jon? Lol...love ya Jon, really do!

U 2 Joe, love ya! :))

OME:

You're absolutely right. Even Joe doesn't play his own songs note for note live. Regarding Surfing with the Alien, I think I just have a complex about my short fingers! I'm gonna get the 8-3 pull if it kills me, dammit. Civgeek had a great idea about how to play it note for note (see below). By the way, I checked out your tunes...very cool. Is that a Stratocaster in your myspace photo? I have one just like it. Black American Standard with rosewood fretboard. I love that guitar.

civgeek:

Well, the classical positioning helps. I can just make the 8th fret, but it is mighty uncomfortable and not very clean. Your idea about using the B and G strings was perfect, however. I still can't believe I didn't think of that. Doh! Thanks.

Best Regards,

Mike.

Question for Recording Engineer Types:

Did anyone notice what looks like a guitar cabinet speaker attached to Jeff's kick drum in the studio pics for Joe's new album?

http://www.dunnett.com/satriani/satriani.html

Any idea what that is all about? Wonder what they are piping into the drum. Too wild, man..too wild.

Best Regards,

Mike.

Satriella, my favourite to play has got to be Hill Groove, it's soooo so much fun to play. It's got so much funky COOLness running through it. Starry Night is also a corker!
SupaaDave, yeah, bang on.....Jon deserves a break, I think!
TheBob, I dunno, it's an interesting one. It works in an open A minor position as well, just with an added B note. Maybe it's a B/Amin (ie. B over A Minor) or something? It's pretty cool!
