to all my long lost friends here........its been a long two months being trapped in a siberian sweat shop making thermal lingerie but i've managed to coerce a wayward sled jockey to get this message to you all if i promise to knit him a burlap thong. I hope this note finds you all doing well with all six ( or 5 or 4 or 12 or 7 etc.) strings tuned and singing sweetly. I'm sure I'll be up for parole in a couple of weeks, keep rockin" and say hi to joe for me!

Peace........................................John :)

But You Could Have

A husband and wife are traveling by car from Key West to Boston. After almost twenty-four hours on the road, they're too tired to continue, and they decide to stop for a rest. They stop at a nice hotel and take a room, but they only plan to sleep for four hours and then get back on the road.

When they check out four hours later, the desk clerk hands them a bill for $350. The man explodes and demands to know why the charge is so high. He tells the clerk although it's a nice hotel; the rooms certainly aren't worth $350.

When the clerk tells him $350 is the standard rate, the man insists on speaking to the Manager. The Manager appears, listens to the man, and then explains that the hotel has an Olympic-sized pool and a huge conference center that were available for the husband and wife to use.

"But we didn't use them," the man complains.

"Well, they are here, and you could have," explains the Manager. He goes on to explain they could have taken in one of the shows for which the hotel is famous. "The best entertainers from New York, Hollywood and Las Vegas perform here," the Manager says.

"But we didn't go to any of those shows, "complains the man again. "Well, we have them, and you could have," the Manager replies. No matter what facility the Manager mentions, the man replies, "But we didn't use it!"

The Manager is unmoved, and eventually the man gives up and agrees to pay. He writes a check and gives it to the Manager.

The Manager is surprised when he looks at the check. "But sir," he says, "this check is only made out for $50."

"That's correct," says the man. "I charged you $300 for sleeping with my wife."

"But I didn't!" exclaims the Manager.

"Well, too bad," the man replies. "She was here, and you could have."

Do The Stu Just saw your post today, I'm like 8 pages behind...i've had a sort of rough past 5 or 6 days... but, about the Dream Theater show at Radio City Music Hall, I'll be there too. I bought my tickets right when they went on sale. I mentioned this here a few times already, but I got AMAZING seats for the show, orchestra seats, 3rd row from the stage, almost dead center, too! And, it's being filmed for a DVD and CD, which you probably already knew. It's going to be an awesome show. I was going to also go to the show in Asbury Park, but I'd rather just stick with the NY show, it will most likely be their best. It's the last show of the tour and they'll have everything planned out to the extent they wanted.

-I think I saw someone mention that Satch should do an acoustic album or live show... It would be cool, but I think his usual would be a lot better. I like acoustic albums a lot, hearing bands play some of their songs with acoustic guitars, basses, and drums (drums are acoustic anyway). I actually just picked up a CD where there are 3 extra songs (recorded live at one of their acoustic shows). Everygrey's 'Inner Circle', the live acoustic songs are great! One band I really like has made an acoustic album (recorded live) that I've been trying to find, Pain of Salvation's '12:5' is one amazing live acoustic album! I'm actually listening to the live acoustic songs on Evergrey's 'Inner Circle' album right now.

SteveeT.....Thanks for your support. My rate is $25.00 hr and is based on my knowlege and what I can offer the songwriters and bands. I know enough to be dangerous...lol.... My room is a great tracking room but my mixing area as you can see is not all the dead or flat. I'll out soarce the critical mix and mastering to engineers with the experience in this area depending on the clients needs . I'll mix demo's and voice over tracks to video or music as my room is Ok for this. I want to network with songwriters and bands to get more exposure for my band and of coarse the studio. Plus we're going to offer web design, CD graghic/layout ,business cards and posters to give Sean some more side work. It's going to be a lot of fun. Thanks.

DC Slater - The three albums you mentioned are probably the most popular among T2Jers. For me personally, ITLIS? is my favorite album. My favorite song is Why, from The Extremist. Although, to be fair, I like just about everything Joe does. Picking favorites is hard work. ;-)

bahduh - Yeah, that Dream Theater gig in New York is still "on". I'll also be seeing them when they play in Los Angeles in early March. That means I'll have seen them three times since July of last year...awesome. :-)
Zinc Master - Thanks...it's good to be here again.

Well...it's time for school. I'll finish reading posts later tonight...

Michelle - I know your kit.. it sounds really nice....

I want to get a big purple one.. fnarf fnarf... lol..

well.. the guy in the drum shop called it "wine"...

I'm thinking about getting Sabien cymbals to go with it and a set of 3 roto's - cos they'll take up less room than another 3 toms...
so this'll be 3 roto's, two mounted toms and a floor tom
later I'll add a double kick pedal

mikey - shredz is done.... all mixed and sorted... I just got to save up the dosh to go master it....

I still have a lot of work to do on it.. but nothing musical.. all the admin and stuff...

right now I'm prepping for a DC tour, so I'll not be mastering until early summer - cash perimtting..

SupaaDave - yup.. the Export is a nice kit... however.. before I finalise my choice I'd like to goof around on a few Yamaha's too..
Yoda - yo bro.. woss hapnin'...

you coming to see DC in London in March??
if you want to, you can come up with me and crash at my place...

jeez... looks like I just missed a pile of birfdees...

Austin, dude I'm sorry if this comes across as kind of out of line or offensive or whatever, but it sounds like this girl doesn't deserve to still have contact with you.

The two of you were close, really close, and you told her honestly how you felt.....she should have honored the fact that you too a risk and told her the truth, and she should have had the integrity to say that although she couldn't reciprocate she still wanted to maintain your friendship.

Running off and making things difficult for you just because she didn't know how to react to your honesty......that's not good enough man.

I know it's easy to say in theory, but believe me, from experience I will happilly say that a proper friend should find some way to always be there for you, even if they don't share a level of attachment that you personally would like.

That's just my thoughts, but I know there's a few people who know what I'm talking about! Sorry if this should have been written by e-mail!

Chad Hadley Buddy... chances are that you went to Music Pro either downtown Barrie on Dunlop St. or the Music Pro down at the South End store and or Gilbert Guitars on Bayfield Ave.

unfortunately, they are major rip off artists... it's the only way they can make any money... Canadian companies have to jack up the prices to even remotely make a profit on Goods and services... Canadians in General and on average are the "Richest Poor People" in the world...hehe

Blame the New Prime Minister's party nearly 20 years or so ago for that one when Brian Mulroney was in power... GST!!!

now companies have to jack prices a little more so they make a profit because of the extra taxes, when it went from 7% to 15% combined PST and GST

It's even worse for Fuel prices... I get a kick out of the US complaining that it's 2 bucks a gallon or so for Gas... not sure the current prices down there

when all they really have to do is convert Canadian Litres to gallons and realize that 90 plus cents a litre is nearly double what the us pays for one gallon. or so I've been told anyways...

MasterYoda- that RGT site is really good, definitely worthwhile.

Satriella- Quite amazing how JB communicates with his eye movements. Definitely a strong spirit.

Mari- How are you? Passed on your wishes to Mr Humphries and Dave. Did I tell you we went out for a curry with "Easter Egg Man" the other night- I'd forgotten about that endearing name... lol. Actually, Dave's son (he's English but is married to an American lady) is a photographer- he's over here at the moment, a real nice guy- you would really like him.
