akorn, i totally agree, but it all comes down to profile, as in from 18 years old, vai's been on the scene, frank zappa, alcatrazz, crossroads (the film), whitesnake..... blah blah

But joe is more melodic, more fluent, and has more feel... and doesnt try and squeeze as many notes into a second as is humanly possible... although he is obviosly more than capable, its feel, its passion, and more than a hobbie and instrument to him, its a kinda love.. and its his job, lucky guy....

seen him june 97 and birmingham nec, and june 2004 and birmingham nia.. cant wait for his next uk visit.... just purchased a js1000, most playable, versatile and beutiful instrumant ive ever played.....

everyone, take it easy..... and if you play, play till your fingers bleed..............gotta go!!

Clarky, "ha... I'm not slamming you... jeez.. lol... you should know me better than that... lol".....No I know you weren't! hehe, that wasn't what I meant. I've got a whole load of sh*t goin on in my 'real' life right now so it just means I wind up getting easily confused about everything...I dunno.

Anyway, wassat about a Poole gig? You got a gig in Poole? When and where?

OCPS470, cool, thanks for that bro. And is it still okay to use the hotplate to bleed the load off but still use it's speaker out so you can monitor with the cabinet? I'm guessing this is ok 'cause I can't figure any decent reason why this would do any damage!

Thanks for your help, it'd be really nice to use the Red Box's Cabinetulator for recording with. I tried the same thing you did, with using the Hotplate's Line Out into the Red Box Pro and the recorded result was really bad!

Suzie2000, ah it's ok, I'm just under some.....ummm.....pressure. Yeah I was lucky enough to meet Joe! He's awesome, the coolest guy for sure. Whenever he gets over here on tour make sure you do your best to meet him before or after the show, it'll be well worth it, if he's got time for talking.

Hey guys whats shakin bakin?

Joe, I hope you are planning on coming to Canada on your upcoming tour. If so I do plan on attending the show, in the front row as well. Maybe even score a chance at going back stage, that would rock my socks off. I will definatly be picking up your new album. Do you know if HMV music stores will be carrying your new album at launch time? It always seems with guys like you and Eric Johnson, it takes about a month at least to get ahold of your stuff. A lot of my JS albums are used because they dont carry albums from the 80's much any more in mainstream music store chains. However I do look forward to your new album and the upcoming tour. I hope you and EJ are performing at the Molson Amphitheater like you yourself did in the summer of 2004 when you were touring with Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy, how was that experience for you?

Steve

Do The Stu Oh man! Hammer of the Gods was in NY!?! If I knew I would have definitly gone! How did I not even hear about it?!? I could have taken a short trip to NY to see that...That'll never happen again. Unless Portnoy bugs them all into doing it again. Hmmmm... I got an idea, I'm going to email Portnoy and Gildenlow, see if there's any chance. I know I'll get an email back from Gildenlow, I've emailed him before, this might take a little longer since they are working on The Perfect Element Pt.2. Hey, it's worth asking, even though I know it's gonna be a no.

Was I able to talk anyone else into buying the Collective Soul CD or DVD today? Click here for those samples again.

I just finished watching the DVD a little while ago. Man...the DVD is worth it for Pretty Donna and Crown alone. The bonus features are pretty cool too.

One of the kids in the orchestra (first violin) is crazy...he gets really into the show, tapping his feet and rocking back to the music while he's playing. Good stuff...

Suzie2000 - I'm the third "row" of people on the LISF DVD, dead center. The easiest way to find me is at the end of the first disc. You see me wipe sweat off my face right before the picture fades to black. Once you know who I am, you can spot me throughout the rest of the DVD. I show up quite a lot. I'm wearing a black Engines of Creation tshirt with a white longsleeved shirt underneath it on the DVD.

To answer your other question, I've met Joe three times that I can think of: after the G3 show on 7/1/01, at an ITLIS? autograph signing on 4/15/04, and at the Anaheim show for webcast stuff on 4/7/05.

I've probably bumped into him either before or after other gigs, but those things probably don't count because they were so brief (nothing more than a "hi", and no autographs or anything).

Loo Who - You can go to http://www.pollstar.com/ and search for concerts in any city within a specified date range. I use it all the time...
Guitarmiester - All of Mike's tribute band projects have been one-time things. They do a few shows and then they're done. He's done Yellow Matter Custard (The Beatles), Hammer Of The Gods (Led Zeppelin), Cygnus And The Sea Monsters (Rush), and he'll do The Amazing Journey (The Who) in May.

When he announced the Amazing Journey on his website, he said it would likely be his final tribute project. There are other big bands (Pink Floyd, Deep Purple), that would be good for a project, but Mike plays that stuff in Dream Theater already...so a side group isn't needed.

Hi Joe, I have always wondered what your thoughts are on country instrumental guitar? Your fellow peer Eric Johnson has mentioned Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, and Buddy Emmons, influencing him and has done some country guitar instrumentals on his records.

Do you have any country guitarists that you admire and are influences on you? As well, will we see a country guitar instrumental on any future recordings from you? I am curious to see what your interpretation of a country guitar instrumental would be. The same goes for your friend Steve Vai.

I had the pleasure of meeting Joe during a Bone Bash concert here in the San Francisco Bay Area. 107.7 The Bone is a local rock radio station and they sponsor an annual concert called the Bone Bash. I say during the show, because I literally left seating area during Journey's set to meet Joe and get an autograph in the concession area. He was very cool and laid back. His autograph is one of my prized possesions!

Best Regards,

Mike.

962: If you setup the redbox and hotplate along with a speaker...amp speaker out to redbox input, through jack to hotplate, speaker outs on hotplate to a cabinet, xlr on redbox to pc or recording device. I'll give you some recroding ideas too......if you use the redbox, but set the switch, so the speaker emulation is turned off, you'll get an ugly sound that can be almost synthetic in nature...very cool as a textured EOC type sound to throw into a mix.........if plug your guitar into a dist box, then run it into the redbox (with emulation on) straight to a recording device, you can get odd synth type sounds too. If you run the redbox normal...and take its XLR output (using an XLR to 1/4 inch adapter) and put that into a nice clean delay like the Boss DD6, you can send the dd6's delay outputs to 2 different tracks, and pan them 100degrees both ways....this gives you the perfect lead sound of the delay pinging in stereo, while the guitar stays dry in the center of the mix, creating space, while maintaining clarity when soloing. You can try this with any stereo effect.

Warning! British Supermarket Car Park Scam (forwarded from a friend)

Be alert

Dunno how many of you shop at ASDA, but this may be useful to know.
I am posting this to you to warn you of something that happened to me as I am a victim of the latest scam at a Supermarket while shopping. This happened at the ASDA Supermarket and it could happen to you.

Here's how the scam works: Two good looking 18 year old girls come to your car as you are leaving.
One starts wiping your windscreen with a rag and Windolene while the other comes to your window saying "Hi" while bending over with her breasts almost coming out of her blouse.
It will be impossible not to look.
When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say "No" and instead beg you for a ride to another Supermarket.
You agree and tell them to sit in the back seat. On the way, they start having sex with each other.
Then one of them climbs over on to the front seat and performs oral sex on you, while the other one steals your wallet.
I was assaulted last Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but I couldn't find them Saturday or Sunday.

Be careful.
danny k i sent a request to add you to my myspace friends! :-) and thanks for the congrats! :-)
delfino Rush In Rio is the dog's danglies, imho... hope you like it!
dave wren thanks bro! :-)
Chris Woodland nice tune... voted and confirmed by email :-)
marc0970 welcome to the site! What Joe stuff have you heard? What was/is your favourite? Do you play guitar? Or another instrument maybe...?
OK, later gang....

EDIT: couldn't keep the word "like" listed as "lie" - it might've gotten messy lol
