Clarky: I thought regular use actually *contributing* to the battery life would've been counterintuitive....learn something new every day! I'll be the first to admit I don't know jack about what MIDI capacity my PC has. I remember (waaayyyyy back in the day) making photocopies of the Bank Charts from the owner's manual and physically writing in the information on the various parameter settings. Talk about doing things the hard way! I've seen reviews of both the GT Pro and the GT 8. A floor pedal unit is more appealing right now. I think one advantage that the Line 6 Pod XT Live has is a better software editor. Wish I could afford all three, but that would be overkill. ;-)

Delfino Pie: Rush in Rio is worth every penny, and more. If nothing else, Peart's drum solo is mind-blowing.

Say.....has anyone got the April '06 Guitar World yet?

marc0970 - Welcome to the site. Tell us a little bit about yourself. Have you seen Joe in concert? What are some of your favorite Satch songs/albums? What other music are you into?

PhryDom - "I was assaulted last Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but I couldn't find them Saturday or Sunday. "

LOL...that was a good one. Thanks for sharing.

bahduh - Work is going well...thanks for asking. School is a bit stressful, but I'll be able to get through the semester okay. My social life/other personal things are still a bit of a mess, but I'm getting by okay. Once I get through the semester things will be good...only 3 1/2 months to go. ;-)
Powerslave214 - I was at Borders the other day and they have the March issue on the shelves. I imagine we won't see the April one in stores for another month. Subscribers will probably get it earlier, though.

...Austin...

OCPS470, yesss! Thanks loads for filling me in on the Red Box stuff. I'll be doing some experimenting later!

Also, the "ugly" sound you described for layering up an EOC type tone.....I found the line-out on the Hotplate is pretty good for that sound too. I'll definitely have a play around with the different recording ideas you suggested!

Thanks again dude, I really appreciate your help!

Yoda - very very cool.... have you ever checked out any early George Benson... the 70's stuff... there is a live album with just him, drums, double bass and piano... and there is some superb playing on there....
also worth scoping out are Emily Remler and Boreli Lagrene...

Remler is not quick, but her note selection and phrasing are breath-taking
Lagrene is simply a beast of a player....

and also, Martin Taylor... he is simply awesome....
even his easy stuff is insanely difficult...

Mikey - I see that Tech 21 have a new version of the SansAmp.. the PSA-1.1... having looked through the specs, the differences appear to be minimal.. like they've ironed out one or two minor gripes [such as adding a power switch.. lol]
if you get the chance, go try one... it'll knock you flat...
but for comparison, also scope out the Marshall GMP-1 [I think] and the Mesa Boogey Triaxis [which I'm interested in myself]...

I have a plan to completely rebuild my rig in the future...
a Triaxis pre-amp
a TC Electronics G-Force
my ART X15 controller

one tiny issue though....

this is a big bux rig.. lmao..

Zen - more cerebral?? no.. not really true at all....

when experimenting I'll follow numerous eploratory paths..
yes some with involve cerebral triggers so that I'll explore via calculations and knowledge..
other paths will be instinctive, or led by feel and curiosity..
and some paths are led by my sense of mischief and humour [trying the silly and rediculous]

the main thing though is that not avenue of experimentation is out of bounds...

eyes wide open.. look with width.. and explore possiblities..

like Mikey says... take chances,
make guesses, go with the flow, work things out...

never stick to a formula

SteveeT - I think you'll find the GT Pro really looks like a cutting edge machine...
the price difference is most likely because you'll have more control over more parameters which are available in more combinations...
go try one.. I'd be interested to see what you htink..
DCK - I've looked at the G-system.. and yes.. it looks really superb....
personally, I think a better [but more pricey option] would be to sling a Triaxis in front of a G-Force...
now that is a combination I really would like to try...

or maybe I shouldn't... cos I know I'd like it so much that I'd end up having to starve.. lol..

962 - I'm playing with the David Cross Band in Poole in late March....
obviously we'll not be playing my own music...
but I wondered if you'd be up for coming...

David's music is very progressive.. nastey time sigs etc... but has interesting dynamics from the very soft.. to fully on getting down and dirty...

it's quite challenging music to play.... fun too..

Phryg - I get cought out by that scam every Monday, Wednesday and Friday... the rest of the week involves that scam scam but at an airport.. lol..
Powerslave - software edits tend not to interest me.... I find it important that the machine is intuitive when you access it from the front panel... cos most of the tweaks occur during rehearsals and sound-checks.. when I don't have it jacked into a PC.. lol..

Clarky - I've got a couple of benson records, but I find it really difficult to find stuff of his which isn't that cheesy soul stuff he did. I've heard versions of So What and take The A Train by him which just blew my head off...

CLARKEY. I just read your note about Martin Taylor, fantastic player but not really my cup of cha. You may know that he is guesting with Tommy Emmanuel (definately my cup of cha) at Windsor Arts Centre on Monday 17th April. I don't know if you are out on tour then but I believe you are sort of in that neck of the woods should you care to go. Could be out of tickets by now anyway but there you go.

John.

Hum - those are tough choices at the Star Plaza. I know people who would like to go to either one - one person in particular would probably go to both.

I will wait until something a little "heavier" comes by.

Clarky: I see what your saying about the new and improved PSA1.1, lol, and this statement really got me.... the use of improved, more efficient and cost effective parts in order to preserve its original price..... haha. lmao, lol, seems like the story of products in general these days!.... Thanks for the tip on the Marshall and the Mesa..I've got to get down to the store for powerslave214 to check on some picks, and I'll browse around and try one out....

BTW bro, on the G-Force, ART X15 with the Triaxis pre amp.... With the money you make from Shredz sales, you'll be able to buy that dream rig!!....

....Man.... Lately, I have been on such a Keneally trip these days!!.... Cant get enough, and you guys wont either if you click on Radio Keneally from his site.... He is a musical genius!!....

Cuth, know anyone in California?? Think a Ben Stiller "Meet The Parents" type ploy could work to get a Lucille copy?? I am sure BB's manager is not feeling too great about this whole situation and any reasonable facsimile might do the trick!! Particularly if BB's eyesight is in any way diminishing in his advancing years...

Just a thought

Clarky the g-system is cheaper than a triaxis and a g-force for sure. if you get a triaxis get a version 1 the v2 sounds very thin.

Good Morning Satchland.....

Beautiful Clear Sunny Cold Day in Chicago. You gotta love the sun. It's always cloudy in the Winter. Drag....but enjoying today.

gottahavejoe......Sorry I'm a little behind in on the posts. The weekend was great. Whatcha up to? Hugs.

Powerslave...... I've been thinkin' about the XTLive pedal for a while. I currently play through a Pod Pro with 412ST Bottom. What do you think of the XTLive? Do you own one? I agree with Clarky.....tweaking on the fly is critical and always a must especially Live with the venue size change. I'm always Eqing my patches ( boosting or cutting) depending on the room. Is the XTLIve easy to tweak from the unit itself? I really like the Line 6 stuff. I like the fact of having the same tone every night and with the Tone Library you can get any tone you want. It's amazing.

Mari/SteveeT......You guys get hit with a lot of snow?

Joe...... How are you? Hope all is well. Are you planning a meet n - greet for " Super Colossal " ? That would be awesome. Take care ....say Hey to the family ,band and crew. BTW.... Simon Phillips is awesome. What made you decide on using him on a couple of Tracks? Just curious. Thanks.

Have A GReat Day Everyone ! ! !

Edit....Ovation1......Thanks for the EJ link...That was great.

Clarky, nice one bro, I'll get my ass to that DC gig! Give me a date and a venue and I'll get it written in the diary. Poole venues.....hmmm, Mr Kyps? The Lighthouse? My mate is a technician and sound engineer at the Lighthouse....that'd be cool!

ovation1, Tribute To Jerry Reed is killer.
I got the G3 Tokyo DVD today. It's so poor, I can't believe how much I didn't enjoy this show. John Petrucci's set was monotonous and lacking anything that got me excited. Vai's set was worse......oooh, that's a nice shirt you're wearing Mr Vai, now play something that'll make me sit up and pay attention. I skipped half of The Audience Is Listening and the last 3rd of K'mpeeduwee.

Joe's set was awesome though. It totally destroyed the others......Joe's playing, expression, feel, tone...everything, was just fantastic. I was disappointed in even his contribution to the jam though. The only bit of that which I really enjoyed was Matt singing.

I sincerely hope Andy Timmons gets a slot on the next G3 DVD. As far as I can tell he is the only guy equipped to remedy the G3 problem. Andy is so humble and so 'normal', and it comes out in his playing. After watching as much of G3 Tokyo as I could handle I put AT's "Official Live Bootleg" DVD on and, yet again, it blew my mind. G3 really needs a properly tentative, expressive blues-rooted player to ballance out against the shred. Eric Johnson was great for this and I know Andy would be perfect too.

The only other equally humble, honest guy I can think of who'd ballance out the show is Paul Gilbert. I dunno, I'm sure my complaints won't do anything to make me more popular, but all the fun of playing seems to have gone from the G3 franchise and now it's just a technical demonstration. The only thing that keeps it worthwhile is Joe's solo sets, they've always been good.

I am so disappointed.

I know it seems like Andy must be paying me to kiss his a$$ but my SOTD right now has to be "Loosen Up" ~ Andy Timmons/Pawn Kings.....this song has one of the BEST blues solos ever.
