melzie I've seen YJM 3 times now. Once on the G3 tour, and two other times. Once with George Lynch and once with a local band. At the third show I was so close that I was leaning against the stage and actually got to touch his guitar when he held it for the audience to hold while he was playing.

I thought that he put on an amazing show.

Zinc......Cindy and I are definetly going to HOB. We can't wait. I've seen Joe there twice. It's a great place unfortunetly the staff there are not to friendy but who cares. I'm going to see Joe. I think were going to do the dinner package so we can have a seat. If you're interested we could include you in our reservation. Also, check out my site for dates. Surprise me. We're not playing South yet but try and make a show if you can. There's a Map Quest link for directions. Take Care.

gotta have joe.....Kinda sounds like you took a bad spill. When you're ready, best climb back on the horse if you know what I mean. Ease into the board to get your confidence up and take it slow. Take care. Hugs.

Joe, I can't wait to pick up the new album and see you on tour. I hope you come through Albuquerque, or at least Phoenix. I have all your discs and listen to them constantly. You are the best! I know it's early, but I'd like to suggest for your playlist on tour: The Mighty Turtle Head, If I Could Fly, Engines of Creation and Back To Shalla-Bal, along with your classics that are already part of your playlist. Most of all, you have to include 'Crushing Day'. This is my favorite song of yours and it has the most wicked guitar work I have ever heard. You just race through those licks at breakneck speed. Fantastic! Thanks for giving myself and all your fans so much awesome music. You are the greatest guitar play in the world and, in my opinion, ever. Look forward to seeing you out on tour. Thanks.

I plan on eating before hand as well - get in sooner.

As we get closer - we should keep in touch.

Idea of the Day

I had my cell phone ring changed to a loud sneeze. That way, not only do I not offend those around me, they actually bless me whenever anyone calls.

Guitarmeister, yeah I've got "Second Heat". Scarified is awesome, especially on Guitar Wars.

Satriella, to answer your question. Paul Gilbert started out playing with Mr Big then Racer X and is probably the greatest shred guitarist out there. His technique is flawless and he puts it to good, intelligent use. He has a great sense of humour and could never be accused of taking himself too seriously. He just likes rock!

And that's what he plays. He plays rock songs and sings (really well), often with stupid lyrics that have you cramped up with laughter. But sometimes he does get serious, and he'll transcribe and arrange a classical composition by one of the great composers such as Bach or Vivaldi.....for guitar. It's amazing, you've never heard anything like it.

On the one hand he's a technical player who plays shred stuff that is so refined it would make John Petrucci wince, and on the other hand he just plays really cool, often beuatiful, riffs or chord progressions that get your foot tapping or your head nodding, and you can't help but enjoy it.

I dunno, a lot of people don't understand him, and don't get the concept of someone being able to be so jovial about everything. There seems to be this assumption that he should be deadly serious and sincere and lots of people can't hack his whacky humour, but I personally think it's great. He is one of the most honest, friendly and interesting people you could ever meet because he is really just a normal guy who happens to be a 1st-class musician.

His stuff is hard to find (you won't find it in shops here in the UK) and I've had to get all mine off the net, but if you get the opportunity, do check him out!

METAL TILL IM 60 - We don't know how long Dave LaRue will be Joe's bassist. I think it's safe to say he'll be there for the entire Super Colossal tour and wherever it takes him (North America, Europe, etc.). Steve Morse is pretty busy with Deep Purple at the moment, so Dave shouldn't have any other commitments.

I don't know what it will be like in the long run. From Joe's news post it sounds like Matt Bissonette is done for good, but I don't know it that means Dave is here on a permanent basis as Joe's permanent bassist (yeah, that was cheesey...but I just HAD to do it).

Zinc Master - "sorry for the all caps - its the way I got it"

You can fix that in Microsoft Word if you copy and paste it there and then edit->select all and format->change case->sentence case.

melzie - If you want an introduction to live Malmsteen, check out the 2003 G3 CD / DVD...
Ronnok - Yeah, Joe will tour Europe at some point after the North American tour.

...Austin...

Jury Determines Flying Shrimp Not the Cause of Death

A jury in Mineola, NY rejected a woman's claim that a piece of shrimp flung by a chef at a Benihana steakhouse contributed to the death of her husband. The plaintiff was seeking at least $10 million in damages after alleging her husband suffered a neck injury requiring spinal surgery after ducking from the food. The man died months after the injury from a fever that his family believes was caused by surgical complications. Wire Reports, LA Times
