Lynx101...... I thought the kid was great. What's wrong with what he played? What made you laugh? What's his name?Sorry for the 20 questions.

Guitarmeister, yeah I've got "Second Heat". Scarified is awesome, especially on Guitar Wars.

Satriella, to answer your question. Paul Gilbert started out playing with Mr Big then Racer X and is probably the greatest shred guitarist out there. His technique is flawless and he puts it to good, intelligent use. He has a great sense of humour and could never be accused of taking himself too seriously. He just likes rock!

And that's what he plays. He plays rock songs and sings (really well), often with stupid lyrics that have you cramped up with laughter. But sometimes he does get serious, and he'll transcribe and arrange a classical composition by one of the great composers such as Bach or Vivaldi.....for guitar. It's amazing, you've never heard anything like it.

On the one hand he's a technical player who plays shred stuff that is so refined it would make John Petrucci wince, and on the other hand he just plays really cool, often beuatiful, riffs or chord progressions that get your foot tapping or your head nodding, and you can't help but enjoy it.

I dunno, a lot of people don't understand him, and don't get the concept of someone being able to be so jovial about everything. There seems to be this assumption that he should be deadly serious and sincere and lots of people can't hack his whacky humour, but I personally think it's great. He is one of the most honest, friendly and interesting people you could ever meet because he is really just a normal guy who happens to be a 1st-class musician.

His stuff is hard to find (you won't find it in shops here in the UK) and I've had to get all mine off the net, but if you get the opportunity, do check him out!

METAL TILL IM 60 - We don't know how long Dave LaRue will be Joe's bassist. I think it's safe to say he'll be there for the entire Super Colossal tour and wherever it takes him (North America, Europe, etc.). Steve Morse is pretty busy with Deep Purple at the moment, so Dave shouldn't have any other commitments.

I don't know what it will be like in the long run. From Joe's news post it sounds like Matt Bissonette is done for good, but I don't know it that means Dave is here on a permanent basis as Joe's permanent bassist (yeah, that was cheesey...but I just HAD to do it).

Zinc Master - "sorry for the all caps - its the way I got it"

You can fix that in Microsoft Word if you copy and paste it there and then edit->select all and format->change case->sentence case.

melzie - If you want an introduction to live Malmsteen, check out the 2003 G3 CD / DVD...
Ronnok - Yeah, Joe will tour Europe at some point after the North American tour.

...Austin...

Jury Determines Flying Shrimp Not the Cause of Death

A jury in Mineola, NY rejected a woman's claim that a piece of shrimp flung by a chef at a Benihana steakhouse contributed to the death of her husband. The plaintiff was seeking at least $10 million in damages after alleging her husband suffered a neck injury requiring spinal surgery after ducking from the food. The man died months after the injury from a fever that his family believes was caused by surgical complications. Wire Reports, LA Times

Lynx 101....... I didn't see the video in the second post. I was commenting on the video from the first post. I thought the kid played well. Certainly well enough for you or anyone else not to laugh at. I really don't go around laughing and cutting other musicians down. If that's your thing. So be it. Do you play guitar? If you do. How dedicated are you to learning the instrument? I just don't like it when people don't respect other players. It's not what it's about. End of rant.

Zinc Master "Idea of the Day

I had my cell phone ring changed to a loud sneeze. That way, not only do I not offend those around me, they actually bless me whenever anyone calls.

-Awesome idea...I'm going to do that with my cell phone....too bad I never have it on me though, it's usually somewhere in my car at all times. Somewhere, meaning maybe under a seat or something, I just don't use it.

MarimariSRV I actually haven't heard much from Buckethead, I'll check his stuff out and if I like it I'll go see him. I'll let you know.

Satriella If you are wondering about Paul Gilbert... go here:

http://www.racerxband.com/music.htm

-It's Racer X's site, you can check out their music... Paul Gilbert is one of the most amazing guitarists ever, you'll see what the 'fuss' is about him once you hear him. Download any of the songs (I'd download all of them if I were you, it's all that good!) Racer X is an incredible band, Paul's guitar playing is so technical and flawless. I'm not too familiar with Mr. Big, haven't really heard anything from when he was with Mr. Big. I'll have to see if my dad happens to have any Mr. Big CD's. The only thing I really know about Mr. Big is that Paul Gilbert was the guitarist and Billy Sheehan on bass, that's about it for me, at the time. You'd probably also like Paul Gilbert's solo albums, I didn't, but I think you would probably enjoy them. They were just too...happy?...sounding for me, too close to being considered, I don't want to say it, but...pop.

-ahh...forgot to mention... I recorded one full song today, it's only the guitar parts. I have someone working on lyrics for me, and bass, and drums. I'll post it up once it's all done... Really amazing solo in this song, too. The song came out great, can't wait to hear what you guys thing of it.

Joe, I heard a unique live acoustic version of Rubina's Blue Sky Happiness on the radio (probably in the early 90's.) I think it was on king biscuit...? Have you ever played it live? It would make for a nice encore.

Rob310 sounds like a plan ;-) Let's not foget once the dates are out :-)
Zinc oh naturally the ad was effective! Men. eh?! lol
Austin yeah maybe we'll soon be able to say that his permanent place is, on a permanent basis, the permanent bassist ;-) Might be kinda cool when the crowd shout (quietly) la followed by Ruuuue... might spark a plethora of boo questions ;-) Maybe Joe should just get a bassist whose name rhymes with "yay" or something, screw the ability lmao
Happy Friday to everyone... I was off today, but went in for a meeting, things are still settling in with my new position... working tomorrow and Sunday... later peeps, have a great weekend!
