Clouds are gone...back to a nice day! Other than that, I'm going back to playing instrumental and working on instrumental tracks (originals). I can't handle being both the lead vocals & lead guitar, I concentrate way too much on guitar...too much going on to do both, and can't find a singer to match the style of music (progressive rock/metal). Was just wailing away on guitar for a while, already working on a great new piece of music. (Did I mention I'm watching Vai's Astoria DVD, one of the most amazing live DVD's ever, and the sound quality is top notch!) One Vai song I've been playing a real lot lately, The Audience Is Listening. Has such a cool riff that leads into the lead guitar (with wah). Watching Erotic Nightmares right now, such an awesome song.

-I'm looking for any requests of songs to play by Satch and/or Vai (instrumental), before I start recording on my computer my own originals I'm going to get used to the software by recording some covers. Here's what I'll be covering: -JS - Tears In The Rain (might add some extra guitar tracks to it) -Vai - Whispering a Prayer *These next few, possibly* -JS - Midnight or Days at the Beach -Vai - Ballerina 12/24 -Paul Gilbert - BRO

-Anything anybody wants hear while I'm getting used to recording on my computer?

JOE ~

My son, who's 14, just got the JS Silver Sketches strap Fed-Ex'ed from Sam Ash today. It's his Valentine's present (thought a smidge late.) He's clawing at the strap locks on his old strap to get them off and put them on his new IMPROVED JS strap. He can't go fast enough. lol! He's going to use it for his Ibanez GSR200JB bass. He has band practice tonight and can't wait to show up...err, show off with his cool strap.

The quality of the strap is excellent. It's heavy duty and looks like it will last through anything. The stitching is tight, and the silver sketches all look great.

I showed my son the "behind the scenes" clip where you're talking about the sketches. Now he has a little background on what it's all about.

Thanks for making the straps available to the public Joe. You rock!!

HA!! he just put it on his bass and can't get the smile off his face. LOL!!!! He went upstairs to shine up his bass a bit and make it look all perty to match his new strap. lol!!

THANKS JOE!

Suzie - thanks for the comments, nice to see positive feedback, which is all we've got so far :-). And yeah, we will be gigging with that material when we can organise it, but there's very few places that do live shows in Blackpool, and most of them require a demo, which is reall why we got those songs done.

Everyone else - here's the link again - just to make sure you definitely don't miss it, lol. Myspace site

Cheers guys

Edit: making the post less agressively toned - if it still is then apologies :-)

Great to hear about Dave touring with Super Colossal! I've been a big fan of Steve Morse Band (and Dixie Dregs) from the 70's. Joe couldn't have a better bassist on tour. I've already reserved my Platinum package and look forward to The Woodlands venue. Lsat time I saw Joe was at The Greek in Hollywood with Deep Purple. It was awesome to see Joe and Steve share the stage but Joe clearly stole the show during Smoke On The Water. Steve is great, but Joe, you are truly THE MASTER. First cuts on the Podcast sound strong, ROCK ON!

-tulsachops

==================================================

Hey Austin III,

Thanks for the comments. The Greek is a great venue, I hope Joe continues to play there. If you like fusion check out some of Steve's early work with The Dregs or his Major Impact CDs. My favs are SMB releases High Tension Wires and Southern Steel. Being an Okie, I have the 'twang' in my blood which draws me to Morse's style. I was fortunate enough to meet Steve at a gig at The Coach House in San Juan Cap. He is really cool and down to earth. Dave LaRue was there (of course) thrashing his MusicMan Bongo Bass (looks like he still favors that from the photos on the Satch site). It looks like you've been around this board for awhile and you seem to have Joe's ear. My brother runs Westwind Studios in Burbank--look him up sometime if you get up there. Hope to see you at a show sometime. Do The Stu!!!!

A couple of years back you came to Montreal for a great show with Steve Vai and Ingui Momsteen. I was sad when the tour with Robert Fripp did not make it.

Why not again? Montreal is a great music town and the birth place of many great rock bands and musicians. Great fans here! Not to speak of the great night life. The French Canadians are different than other Canadians, very latin.

I think that the Montreal fans would be grateful for your visit during your next tour. You can count me in!

I like this Just Like Lightnin' clip more than Super Colossal. It sounds more promising, but (once again) I really have to wait to hear the whole thing before I can say more...

Hrh Fish - Hi... I looked back at the Van Halen thing I wrote...sorry if I came across as mean/angry. That wasn't my intention at all. I think Dave has proved time and time again that he just doesn't have it anymore, so a reunion featuring him would be a laughing stock. I wasn't trying to be mean though...we're cool, right?

Anyway, to answer one of your other questions. You can't post photos here, but you can post links to photos.

gotta have Joe - You should get a program such as Get Right, which allows you to pause downloads and finish them later.
highwayman - Joe doesn't seem to have a problem with fans taking photos during shows (just look at all the pictures up on this site), but most venues don't allow it.
Blue Moon - Check out the Get Right program I mentioned above.
mthead101 - Happy birthday! :-)
tulsachops - Hi...I was at that show at the Greek Theatre as well. It was so cool to see Joe and Steve jam together, and I liked how Steve let Joe play the main riff to lead into Smoke On The Water. It's such a small gesture, but it was cool.

I think the best solo of the night was Steve's on Highway Star, though...

...Austin...

what do you other guys and gals think?

Suzie, yeah and you know what baffles me - it obviously costs more to ship stuff overseas, we all expect that when we get an international import, so surely Sony are missing an opportunity to make some extra $$$ out of airmail fees?!

As for show dates being announced.....I dunno, I'd hope we'll get at least a couple of months notice on Joe's tour dates....we usually do. Fingers crossed :-)

well, i guess i need to start paying attention in here and posting more often. ive been in the regular Satch chat for about 2 or 3 months, and this is totally different from that. i feel so left out...... now i dont, cuz here i am now.... geez that was lame lol oh well hmmmmm..... i cant wait to see wut im getting for my b-day though. i might be getting a new guitar.....

oh yeah, i need some advice on wut to do. im having a skool trip to NY city on march 24. but im getting some b-day money. should i spend the money on the trip to NY or should i save up for a super chorus pedal by boss. im leaning toward the 2nd option though. i guess the real question is, is there a difference between the regular chorus pedal and the super chorus pedal. i see a slight diff, but i dont reall know (only heard samples from boss's online site) i own a boss me-50 and it has chorus. so wut should i get?
