After looking around on this site, it would appear that fans do take pics at Joe's concerts. I just want to make sure before I take my camera to the show. If anyone knows how to get permission for taking photos at Joe's concerts I would appreciate any info on this. I just want some for my own personal use. Thanks

You do ave to get perrmission. Most security at venues will confiscate cameras so if ya do try make sure they wont find it when they give you the pat down

I just read the rules for the venue at which the show is at. They permit cameras, but only if the artist allows them. I guess I just need to find out if they are permitted for the show I am gong to.

Hey Joe, I really want to learn to play better, i've been playing for about 4 years now, and have almost gotten nowhere. IT'S ACTUALLY REALLY FRUSTRATING, AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!! What do you suggest that I start off learning? (besides theory i'm in the process of learning it, somewhat)

Hi Joe, You know when I first heard the forgotten I was driving, and you know when your bends go higher up the neck the emotion was so intense I almost had to pull over.
You communicate so well through the instrament we love.
Thank you

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I have to wait and check out all the cool videos tomorrow on my brothers Apple, quicktime isn't working on the computer I'm using!!! And we got a present of the stuff a day early! That gives me two reasons to update my computer, (1)need a better computer for recording (2)for times like these when we get webcasts early! and to handle the latest players and all that. Was looking at the pics though, looked through all the rehearsal pics, very cool...I'll have to check out the show pics tomorrow. It's late (and I'm watching G3 in Tokyo...again.) Can't wait for the new album!

Teach Me Guitar:
When I first started out, I always tried to learn the most difficult thing that I could possibly find. It usually sounded completely terrible, but it helps you to find your flaws and develop your technique. I think a lot of people try to put too much emphasis on being a blisteringly fast guitar player and miss the whole point of learning an instrument; to express yourself.
Take the time to sit down with a piece, and really work on it. I spent about 6 months working on Satch Boogie, (for a topical example ;)) and by the end, I could get a pretty good sound. As well as this, try and bring your own approach to your playing... It's all too easy to try and imitate a famous guitarist and end up sounding like a replica Satriani/Vai/Clapton etc.
It takes a damn lot of time to get good at the guitar, and even longer to get great at the guitar. Quite a lot of the getting great part is having the confidence to say "F*ck yeah! I'm a great guitarist!". If you can get a hang of that (but don't over-use it and try to avoid saying it too often in public :-D)
I think what makes a guitarist truly great, is their own unique sound (the same with all musicians in essence) because of this, it's really important to try and develop your ear. Try to avoid using TAB as far as possible and work instead on learning the nuances of a song and it's emotional context... My dad used to say to me:
"You play with your ears son, not with your eyes"
Hope this helps man. Take it easy.

Forgot to ask earlier:
-Looking to get an acoustic/electric, any recommendations on a somewhat cheap but quality acoustic/electric? So far, I'm almost set on the Ovation CC057 Celebrity Cutaway Acoustic-Electric, I really like Ovations. I was going to get over to the music store today to try out a ton of acoustic/electrics, but I had something very important come up at home...so, I'll get to testing guitars out tomorrow. But, before I go, any recommendations? I like going to the store by me to test guitars, amps, pedals... out, I can be there for hours testing stuff out. Hey, everything really needs to taken out for a test drive.

highwayman, Hrh Fish is sort of right, you have to get the artists permission. But even if Joe says "yeah, feel free to shoot as many photos as you can" you still have to get permission from the venue. It depends what you're using though really. If you take a small camera like a disposable or a digital compact or something you can just bury it in your pocket and then use it all you're like....usually people don't care.
If you walk in with a tripod and a flight case containing a couple of SLR's with a couple of different lenses and flashguns to go with 'em, you might get kicked out! haha.
Joe never seems to mind photos though, you always see people with cameras at gigs. The only time I advise not trying to sneak one in is if you're going to a show that is being filmed for DVD - when I went into Steve Vai's Aching Hunger Part II show in Holland last year, we all got frisked! Sorry....that was a long answer to a short question wasn't it?!
teach me guitar and gotta have joe, can you try and explain what level you are at? You know, tell us what stuff you do know in terms of basic guitar theory, what chords you know, scales, songs what kind of stuff you can read?
