Hey Joe, Have you ever considered creating a MySpace page? I think that would be a great idea. I just noticed that Steve Vai has an official Steve Vai page on MySpace. There are a bunch of poser/imposters on there right now claiming to be you, but we all know, there is only one Satch. Anyway, just a thought. BTW, I had the honor of seeing you perform at the House of Blues in Chicago a while back. I had to drive 2 1/2 hours to get there, but it was all worth it. Thank you!

Hi Friends - OK crazy Sandy is gone and Satriella is back!

Phew I got some catching up to do!

peaceandguitars - how ya doing....don't think I av seen you post lately...so c'mon we need to know your OK every now and again...the place is not the same without you

Keniko - Thanks for the cheer up message...and wow yours son's (Sean) work is amazing! i mean really amazing....you can tell he was taught properly to draw...I just do it for fun..self taught..as you can tell hehe...hey and the added bonus that now I know what you look like :) Anyway I hope you tell him how fantastic he is at drawing from me! And if he can give me any tips...well, sure need em!

ovation1 - Ahhh thanks for your lovely message bout my artwork...people are always sharing their guitarwork here, can't do that so drawing is the only, ahem, "talent" I have...but it is very therapeutic when your down...so I guess it does have some use hehe

Suzie2000 - Thank you to you too twice...yes I have to work from a picture...usually out of a magazine or something...so I'm more of a forger than an artist hehe. Yes I loved Adam Ant's music too...all the drums I think...especially Ant Music...it was just different to other stuff...anything with loads of drums or loads of guitar is usually great.. I guess that is why I drew him cos I was into his stuff at the time.

HrhFish - That was a lovely message from you...the bit about lots of friends on here...when you are really down....I don't know I guess all the good stuff seems to get blocked out of your head...do ya know what I mean...you just feel bad about everything! But hey yep...I know I got it good...especially all my good friends on here...thank you...I will try to find a picture of Sid James to do...may be hard to come by though...pictures off the net tend to be too grainy...but I will have a look...and if I find one I will do it specially for you :)....yes I love doing older faces like your uncle..no not that your uncle has an old face...that's not what I meant hehe...that's why Paul Newman is the best picture...took the longest cos there is so much detail in the face!

guitarpicker - thank you! Are you new here.....if you are welcome aboard :)

The Forgotten Boy - Hey good to see you posting again....so Joe's a Prophet eh! What's his prediction for the future....do yaz think! Good to see ya got your priorities straight though...that's what I need to do! oooo and thank you for making my picture your wallpaper...I'm very honoured and touched....

Tuvster - It was great talking to you the other day...sorry I didn't end up coming back...but thanks for your help anyway...and though I couldn't hear what you sounded like on your guitar...I'm sure I will one day :) You looked pretty good at guitar on the webcam!!

NSPike - Yeah.....Liking your sound...always did like SKA(ish) type of music good to hear it coming back. Thanks for the link

marimarisrv - oooo that was close.....glad you didn't get a ticket...phew!

to be continued...

Talking of Phew...must...stop...for...breather!!!!

OK

guitarmeister - Thanks for the update on your music...your a very busy guy....look forward to the link...hmmm yet another one to add to my favourites...I will have to sort that out soom or it will be off the screen....Beethoven's 5th and Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Somewhere over the rainbow is so good, if you haven't heard Steve Vai's version, I suggest you check it out....hmmmm that's strange no I haven't heard him do either of these....where are they?

Clarky - Oh good...glad it's not gonna change...I hate it when things change..when they are good already I mean....but hey if you think you can improve it...who am I to argue, considering I know nothing about guitars...except how good they sound ...hehe...lol

mthead101 - Aww thank you....I really think Joe is actually my worst picture...I am a stickler for getting my drawings absolutely right...and that one isn't his face is too wide and not long enough...but I will give him another go later...I am doing Samuel L Jackson at the moment...oh and it usually takes me about 8 hours to do a portrait...hard to tell cos I usually do a bit at a time...and come and go...but yeah...I drew Elijah Woods on Saturday...actually that took more like 5 hours...but there is not much detail in his face...Paul Newman took around 10 hours...although the funny thing about him is I started him when I was 15...then I got fed up half way through and didn't pick it up again for 10 years!...now that is slow work! lol

bahduh - thanks for asking mate....yep as you can see from the above...I am feeling a lot better...can't shut me up now.........again!

Dejan - Hey like the look of your website...looks really cool and the Music is great too...just listening to Discovery now....fantastic stuff!

Ok did I miss anyone..oh yes forgot to say...

962 - Before Dejan I was on your soundclick as usual...and your songs have done really well...Silver Rain is no 52 Airhead 56, Powerhouse 55....that's really good considering there are thousands on there...be proud of yourself mate!...Hope you are OK by the way :)

hey...I don't remember seeing Zinc for a day at least...are you OK too?

Powerslave - sorry to abandon you like that the other day!

Plum Loco, JS1200js1000,cheese101, Blue Moon, Gotta Have Joe....Oh there are just too many to mention now...

All of you guys...thanks for being so great!

And remind me not to be away so long next time hehehehehehehehe....or you will get another post like this! I think that is warning enough...lol

Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig Hugs to all Satriella xxxxxxxxx

OCPS470, oh of course man, don't get me wrong, I think Dave LaRue's a fabulous bass player! I love hearing his mark stamped all over Steve Morse's stuff......it'll just be interesting to see how tight he's stretched, playing for both dudes!

ovation1, hahaha, oh man I'm crackin up.....I can just see Joe rolling up to some rickety old ranch on a Harley, you know the sort of place, out in the middle of nowhere some wood-and-tin shack type structure going on in the middle of an area which used to be fenced off. And there's Pat Badger chasing 200 Ostriches round a field :-p hehehe
climber, try not to think of modes as being written for a purpose. They just "are". A major scale has 7 different notes in it.....if you play a 1-octave scale you play 8 notes with the last one being the same as the first one. You can start that scale on any one of the 7 notes, so Position 1 (Ionian) starts from the root note, Position 2 (Dorian) starts from the 2nd and so on. In this context it means that all 7 modes are just components of the same scale.

ie. if you play a B Dorian over an A Major chord your scale will still sound like an A Major scale, and the same if you play C# Phrygian over an A Major chord.

However, each of these modes has a unique sound and structure in it's own right. So if you keep your C# Phrygian and change your chord to a C Minor you've suddenly got a completely different sound.

Sorry, that's about the best explanation I can come up with in a hurry....I usually spend weeks teaching people this stuff! haha. Hope it helps anyway :-]

Satriella, awww, thanks for the "PUBLIC NOTICE", that was really sweet! Also thanks for the feedback on my soundclick stats....I've never really thought about it, but 52 out of tens of thousands is pretty good I guess! :-D

Hugs

I saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show tonight...if anyone hasn't done the midnight showing thing with this movie, you need to.

The thing here was with a staff that acted out the movie onstage with the movie playing behind them. Of course everyone in the audience was dressed up, we all had rice to throw, we were sprayed with water, and all that good stuff.

I haven't had this much fun in a LONG time...

Howdy everyone. How's it going?

Way to go Liverpool, beating United 1-0!!!! I thik it's a bit of a joke the way their goal scorer celebrated though, in spite of rcet happenings. You cna bet nothing will be done about it by the FA.

Can't wait 'til Tuesday, when Real Madrid give Arsenal a right good spanking!!!!! Good game good game, as the legndary Brucey Forsythe would say.

Climber - If you give me your e-mail address I can sen you a copy of a column I wrote for a guitar website a while back. It axplains how the mods of the major scale work (or at least it tries to). Most of my students hav found it really helpful...

Hey guys, have a look at this

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4508158.stm

Personally I am annoyed that Music Company just using their "big wallets" and Harvard lawyers to limit peoples ability to learn and appreciate music. And obviously the whole point is to make more money. I mean most people listen to music and try to figure out how it was made and the tablature on internet is someone's interpretation of an artist's music. So copyright doesn't really play into it , because it is a "person’s interpretation " . I could understand the whole debate on downloading music on internet, but this is a step too far. If u bring the whole copyright rule in it, you are just undermining people's right of 'freedom of expression'. It’s wrong. Plain and simple.

what do u guys think?

Hi Joe

I just wanted you to know that you have been such an inspiration for my 16 year old son. He listens to you faithfully and has been bringing your music to guitar lessons, in an attempt to learn some of your music. He talks about you constantly. It's very nice to see that you have such an influence on teenagers today. You have an amazing talent, and I hope that he continues to follow in your footsteps.

He has no idea, but I just ordered the Premium tickets for the April 12th Toronto show. He is going to die!!!

thanks

Josie

Satriella: No problem on the credit maam', you deserve it! :-) Like guitar (or any other instrument), drawing is an art, and something that comes from within.... I used to draw alot when I was a child and was told I was very good, but I never kept up at it.... Having just a pencil and a piece of paper and turning it into a beautiful drawing takes talent, just like guitar, lol, keep it up!! :-)

962: haha, lol man, I can picute that!!!!.... Then Joe asks Pat if he can play bass for him, and Pat thinks real hard.... Joe then says: How bout' I get IBY to make you an ostrich bass, and the rest is history, lmao!!!!....

....Later peeps....

I guess the weekend doesnt count for the "podcast a day" thingie.... lol, I dislike the suspense!!

962 - that's OK honey, any time...Just the truth...the truth is not always good...but I think it was OK in this instance hehe

Do The Stu - Wow the Rocky Horror picture show..I went to see that live @~#@+! years ago....dressed in my suspenders and black bin liner...with a white face...and oh like you said dressed up...hey do they still throw bounty bars at you when he does his speech and says paradise...oh and what about the kitkats when he says break....oh yes...I remember it was soooo much fun....I still love the soundtrack! Dammit Janet....tut a tut a touch me...wild and an untamed thing...sweet transvestite...and of course the dancing....all get up now...do the motions...do the time Warp!!!....I don't think anyone can beat Tim Curry as Frank n furter though....and I just love Richard O Brien...talking of him...they used to do a thing called the alternative Miss World which was for transvestites basically and Richard O'Brien came on as the entertainment one time...he looked fantastic...in a pink toutou, high heels and fishnets with a long white wig...he should have actually won the contest...the Real Miss World I mean hehe he looked stunning with legs to die for!

Austin....I've been to one of those Rocky Horror midnight shows where the crowd and the employees actively participate...lots of fun. Unfortunately, for about a month after, I kept having these terrible dreams where Tim Curry is hiding in my closet dressed in drag waiting for me to fall asleep...lol ! I'll never look at him the same way again...lol.
