962: As far as acoustic guit fiddles, the Taylors are absolutely great! Even their $300 models sound amazing. Takaminies also sound great to me. I own an ovation celebrity deluxe (the multi holed mapple leaf design) and it's great, but it's not for everyone. I think Ovations, though, are one of the best mic ed up recorded guitars. The balanced bass response of the ovation makes it sound totally perfect in a mix next to electrics and other instruments. Whenever I mic up the Ovation, I never have to do anything to it...no EQ etc etc. On the other hand, I've recorded full bodied jumbo acoustics that sounding fat, but sounded way too boomy infront of a sensitive AKG condenser mic.

Joe,

Can you talk to the guys at Ibanez and ask them to make a few left handed JS1200s????? I'm sure there are others that would love to have one! I'm currently playing an RG470. The only other model available is the RG1570. All in boring black!

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated! Can't wait to see your show on 4/5 at the House of Blues.

Sincerely,

Dave Bogdan

Hi folx -thanks to the warm welcome and suggestions.

SteveeT -I know, I'd like to get them all, but I've started with ordering Anthology, Satch Tapes DVD and Surfing with the Alien. Of course, pre-ordered Super Colossal. wtf with living in Canada though, looks like it'll take a while to get some of them here. :-(

Satriella -thanks also for sayin' hi; one never knows how different boards work, there are some mb's that I've been on that are are quite nasty. Good to know Joe's fans here are cool. Checked out your work btw, WOW, I'm impressed. Really love the Bowie sketch and many others too!

peaceandguitars -my forum name is a combination of truth & lack of imagination. lol

Michelle -I do suffer from shyness, so I'll try some of that remedy you suggest, but n...ei...t wtf gets hard v lkeeio ... to ... type ...(8 vcm oei eeoi wffffbbllllrhh woohoo ;-)

tulsachops -thanks too for suggestions, getting started with those I listed above. cheers

I know most of the "guitar guys" don't go for this, but I was wondering if you had a taping/trading policy. Many bands/artists make seats available (and no, not just the Grateful Dead and Phish) on a limited basis for folks with decent equipment to make tapes/discs of the show for fans to trade (absolutley NO sale of these shows is allowed).

For example, Cowboy Junkies usually have 1 or 2 tapers at a show and Eddie From Ohio allows soundboard patches.

Some bands are utilizing a new system where you order the show before you go in and get the discs on the way out. I forget what that's called though..

I know Eric Johnson is strictly against it, but I was wondering if you had a policy for your shows.

I have my tix for this tour (don't worry, I'm not a taper myself). Can't wait to see you onstage! Thanks for decades of great music! I've been a fan since "Surfing."

Hi everyone

I started to play the guitar 13 years ago (I was 6 ) , and I begin to listen a lot of Joe Satriani's music last year. His music is amazing, brillant.... someone said that Satriani is a genius, I thing he is right !!!!

I don't think it change my life but when i listen to his song, I feel realy better, I am in peace.....

DEATHCUBE / 962: Thanks for the advice... we do have a good electro-acoustic classical guitar, by Tony Johnson (estimated value £3000) which we luckily bought for £1000. Lovely guitar with huge variety of tones... also we have a much cheaper Granados electro-acoustic classical, which has been very loyal to us, has a real sweet tone. Also that one has a Fishman pick-up. Something about the Euphoria guitar is reeling me in though! Will try and find somewhere local that stocks it before buying though obviously.

Thanks again for the advice though I do appreciate it. :)

OllyNo1, Chris (OCPS470) pointed me in th direction of a THD Hotplate to help deal with the volume issue with a valve amp. I have to say it's the coolest bit of kit I've invested in. It takes the load off the amp signal before it goes to the cab, so you get all the great cranked-valve-amp tone, but at an easy-listening level that won't bother the neighbours. It's superb!

Yeah I went to see Vai in London last summer.....you didn't go? Hmm, it was allright, but not the best show of his I've been to. Did you see Paul Gilbert's clinic at Canford School? That was one of the best shows I've been to, he was absolutely jaw-dropping.

mthead, aww thanks dude, I'm really glad to hear you're diggin on my tunes! haha :-D Thanks for your support buddy!
sdantoni, that's a good question actually, I'd be really interested to see what Joe thinks of H&K stuff.....I personally think they rock, one day I will lay my hands on a Tri-Amp, and then you'll aaalllll get to hear about it! haha
OCPS470, cool man, I didn't realise Taylor did cater for the $300 market! I bet they do sound nice, their $3000 offerings are divine!
Suzie, no problemo chica! Yeah I do understand how you're feeling.....I always find myself drawn to the Ibanez section in my local shop, despite there being a good 20 grand's worth of PRS's hanging on the wall a few metres away! hehe.

If you do find a Euphoria, please give us the low-down on what it's like!

edit:

note to All UK motorists, I keep meaning to share this with you. Basically, there's this thing called the "Pipeline card" being set up to get discount on fuel.

The idea is that if "Pipeline" has enough members it can get registered as a UK industry or something and all it's members get a card to carry with them, which will get them a discount on fuel at the garage.

I'm sorry, I can't remember all the proper details, but it's all here to read at http://www.pipelinecard.org

I found out about it a few months ago in EVO magazine and it was in there again this month, and I'm sure they wouldn't publish support for it if it wasn't legit, so it's worth checking out!
