Dave, I guess I left out the word "held. lol! It was a hand-held scanner. lmao!!! You know, the thing they wave all up on ya to find metal. lol! This time my daughters studded belt set it off. When we saw Godsmack, the gum wrapper in my back pocket set it off. lol! Speaking of metal detectors - my in-laws recently went on a cruise. My father in law forgot to get a paper from his doctor saying he had a knee replacement. lol! When he got to the airport, they made strip down to his BVD's. lmao!! You would think the huge scar across his knee would be a sure sign that a 70 yr old man had some sort of metal in there and wasn't a hazard to society. lol!

Looking forward to the new album! My computer is way over 5 years old so I haven't even attempted to download any of the podcasts!! :) LOL!

I got my G3 in Tokyo Dvd last week and I thought it was pretty good. I'm still waiting on details of where I can get one of those rubber chickens tho - Joe, any suggestions??!

962 - I figured out my sound problem at band rehearsals last nite. It seems to be my Boss DS-1 pedal. I've swapped the battery out and tried it on mains with and without the battery left in and it still seems to loose clarity and volume for no reason, even if I turn the level and tone controls as far up as I can when it happens.

I thought these things were pretty robust but I guess I'm either going to have to send it back for repair or consider another pedal. Anyone used the Marshalll Guvnor II? Any suggestions?

Our first gig of the year is at a really dodgy pub in the drummers local area in a few weeks - should be good, we've 7 new songs slotted in including Little Wing and All Your Love which I'm pretty stoked about getting in the set!

Cliff About the Marshall Guv'nor 2... I had the original Guv'nor, but not the GV-2. I actually was collecting all of the Marshall dist. and OD pedals about a year ago, I had all of them except the GV-2 (I didn't really want to buy it new, couldn't find one used.) But, the GV-2 is supposed to be really good, I was very impressed with the new line of Marshall pedals. The Jackhammer was really impressive, but the distortion mode had too much bass. The Bluesbreaker II is awesome, I still wish I didn't get rid of it, such amazing tones in that thing. I was really hoping to get the GV-2, pretty much gave up after I was doing some remodeling of my setup (sold all the Marshall pedals and every pedal I didn't use/need to buy other stuff, very happy with my sound at the time, for the 1st time.) What kind of amp are you using? If I come across a GV-2 for a good deal I'll let you know, from what I've heard about it, it's supposed to be pretty good.

-HOLY S***!!! FINALLY!!! Figured out all of BRO today (except the counterpoint melody)!!! I'm not going to work on the counterpoint melody until I have BRO down unbelievably clean. WOW! Is all I can really say right now... I really amazed myself with this one. Once I'm totally done with BRO, finishing the rest of Scarified! Can't believe I finished BRO today!!! Woooo!

Marimarisrv & Satriella Sorry I haven't sent Somewhere Over The Rainbow yet, as you can tell from what I just wrote, I've been extremely busy. I'll try and send it later on today if I can.

SteveeT - thanks again...
death cube k - I think it is no secret that Joe is an amazing guy, player and teacher. Part of the success in being a functional human being in the above 3 modes is the element of discipline. Slackers don't have the kind of career Joe has. As a teacher he was VERY demanding. You were expected to practice and you were held accountable - he delivered all the goods, but you were expected to do your part. Vai, Hammet, LaLonde, Rick Hunolt, Alex Skolnick are all part of the testimony of his dedication and success as a teacher - what a legacy. I don't think I know of any single teacher who has come close in rock to this kind of roster of successful and respected students. I can promise you that having Satch sitting about 3 feet away - watching you play through your exercises could provide a lot of incentive to practice them extensively. It was an experience that was nothing short of amazing. I had the good fortune to be able to afford hour lessons - for 3 1/2 years that transformed my life. It has been such a pleasure to watch Joe go from being relatively unknown to one of rocks most respected players - and deservedly so. I still have all my lesson plans and every so often go through them. One of them was a major reaming that I deserved and put the fire under my behind to get with the program. I'm glad I did!
Take care, and again, thanks for the warm welcome!

Sincerely,
Doug

Guitarmiester - Thanks for the info! I'm using a Marshall Valvestate 100w Combo amp at the mo. Similar to yourself, I got rid of my old digitech RP-6 Multi-Effects and bought a few different pedals to match the main effects that I use about 9months ago.

My main 2 effects are distortion and reverb (which I'm now dialing in from the amp) but I occasionally use a bit of chorus, delay and wah depending on the song I'm playing in the band.

My sound was loosing clarity at gigs and I thought it was my ears adjusting to the volume over the course of a set but it looks like the distortion pedal is playing up.

I'm currently using the in-built distortion channel on the amp and straight away it sounded less 'processed' than the pedal. Although I'm happy with the sound from the amp's distortion, I'm looking at getting a pedal that gets a similar sound as we occasionally do gigs where we play through a shared backline and I need to try and get the sound as consitent as possible hence a pedal to recreate the 'Marshall' sound (I'm thinking back to a Gary Moore interview where he said he used The Guvnor pedal with a Les Paul to get the sound on his Still Got The Blues album).

I can get some great fat sounds from my Peavey Wolfgang but also need something that can... er, go up to 11 (if you know what I mean!).

Keep me posted if you see any deals!

Every Motley show I have been to recently (last 3 tours - except when they toured with Megadeth) - young kids were there with parents. Parents were wasted or drunk.

Last summer, the 2 kids just sat there - about ages 9 and 13 or so - especially during when Tommy was using his camera. The look on the daughter's face said it all - shocked, outraged, ect. I was too.

The concert rocked - parts were slow, parts were boring, but the music rocked !!

"JeRQ THIS TOO! 8=D" is an extension of the "JeRQ THIS!" CD released in November of 2005. This CD takes you on a wild ride with MORE High-Energy Instrumental guitar but also includes something not usually heard from Jon Robert Quinn. This CD features vocals from the man himself and has also included a couple Live tracks as well.

Hear "Rhythm of the City" and "JeRQ THIS!" recorded Live from shows in 2005. "Rhythm of the City" was released in Jan 04 on the "Solo-Fisticated" CD and "JeRQ THIS!" was released on last November's "JeRQ THIS!".

Lyrics and vocals are by Jon Robert Quinn on two tracks, "There's a Woman" & "Her and Me".

(((( Here's a letter from a fan )))) "I have just got your album. It flew all the way across the atlantic to The Isle of Lewis. I have now listened to it 4 times and it is sitting well with me. My son is 10 and he is learning the electric guitar and his wee ears pricked up when I stuck your cd onto my sound system. Keep working your guitar." - Gerry

----------Official Press Release---------- 23-year old guitarist Jon Robert Quinn is making a name for himself as a wild, yet captivating guitarist and songwriter. His shows are full of energy, emotion and pure enjoyment as he blazes through the fretboard with musical mayhem.

"He is incredible. His show is something everybody needs to experience,” said a JRQ Fan via email.

Jon Robert Quinn has become a bit of a road warrior, playing over 280 shows since May 2004 travelling up and down the West Coast. And is not afraid to genre hop providing High-Energy Rock, Jazz and Blues. He has had a lot of fun during his career performing live on television and making special appearances at fairs and festivals. One high point in his recording career was last year's release of "JeRQ THIS!" Soon after this release, he was internationally recognized as a virtuoso of guitar gaining radio play and a fan base from all around the world.

"I grew up in a household where my mother took lessons from Legendary Jazz Guitarist Johnny Smith and my father was into studio recording. I remember working in the studio with my father as a toddler helping adjust settings on the equipment." said JRQ.

Jon started playing piano at age 6 and picked up guitar at 14. Now at 23, he has what it takes to compete with some of the best. Jon Robert Quinn is talented, inspiring, a showman and truly, a virtuoso.

Jon is currently working on some new things for 2006. First off, he recently got involved with a modern rock band that actually isn't instrumental at all. Jon does guitar and vocals with this project. More information is soon to come. Also this year, the follow-up to "JeRQ THIS!" was released. "JeRQ THIS! TOO" features the familiar instrumental rock that everybody is used to, but also includes some vocal songs as well. Jon has now included vocals in all of his solo perfomances. And also this year, expect an all acoustic record with guitar and vocals. More information on all of these projects will be available soon.

Hey folks, I just uploaded a new track to my soundclick page! It's the first one from me in a while, have been in something of a creative rut I suppose, but anyway, feel free to follow this link - http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=259685 - to check out "(Unforgiven) Hammered".

It's fast paced and fairly serious without being too sad. It's a blend of two tracks - Unforgiven is the intro and then 50 seconds in it hands over to Hammered - hence the weird name!

Satriella, Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay off! hehe.....what? I didn't make any guesses at who it is, I just said "Who's it gonna be..."

I'm confused

Cliff, I'm not surprised it's the DS-1 that's giving you trouble. Is there anyway you can not use a pedal for your distortion tone?
mikesb, there's no way I can check out that music video with my dial-up.....who is it and what am I missing?! hehe

Also, I took delivery of Andy's Orange Swirl and And-Thology CD's today...the man's a legend. He included, in the package, and extra CD cover of Orange Swirl which he'd signed to me personally....I love the way he does this with his merchandise customers, none of this bollocks with paying double for a signed copy!

I haven't had time to listen to all of Orange Swirl or any of And-Thology yet :-[ but what I've heard so far I've loved. I can't wait for Resolution.

cuthbert, yeah Enzo's have to be built to be extra-safe 'cause they're driven by retards :-P hehe, sorry, that was uncalled for, I know, but Ferrari drivers in this country are not very good, and it seems those in California aren't much better!
