Yes! It's so close!

Erm, I see I haven't posted here yet, so... I really don't know if it's customary for new posters to do this at all, so if anybody cares, I dunno, here's some mostly pointless Intro: I'm a 16 year old guy in Canada, been playing guitar since the summer of 2005, got interested in Satch by the time I really started to get into it. I admit, I downloaded my first song, it was the Live in San Fransisco recording of One Big Rush. Simply enamouring...in the rush-of-genuine-adrenaline-and-ready-to-kick-some-ass sort of way. Truthfully it's only been what, since fall or so, but I've simply started to flood over his work. And especially after I heard that he had a new album coming out really soon, I really felt I can get a foothold as a fan if you know what I mean (looking up for a new album release is not really common for me, there's not too many artists that I really get to respect and get myself into, including, well, joining the message board too >_>) . And Redshift Riders is going to be complete kickassery, excuse my use of terms >_>

Anyways, even though it might not mean much at all, I hope everyone is doing well over here. I truly hope you will find peaceful consolation in something soon, and as another had said that I truly believe that God will do anything and everything to help.

Formal greetings aside, *glues self to screen to see when the new podcast appears*

Big bad moon's looking down on me tonight...

so, speaking of which-- new podcast is up! i think this tune , One Robot's Dream, may be my favorite from the album..

Hello Gang!

Bringing you early morning greetings and news from the house of The Fireman and Wanda...

Surgery went very well and they took only 3 lymph nodes which is an excellent sign. The doc says everything looks "real good" and Wanda came through the procedure very well. He also commented that those nodes that were removed looked healthy to his naked eye.... And he has seen many, many that didn't look so good in his 26 year career..

She just called and we talked for almost 30 minutes...... She's in great spirits and wanted me to pass on her sincere thanks to you all for all your encouragement and support. She is still talking about Joe's post....!

Every time I told her about another post with her name she would get a very nice loving smile. You people are fantastic and I can't thank you enough.

She is looking forward to coming home from the hospital tomorrow and starting another chapter on the road to being cancer free again. We see the official cancer doc to go over the pathology report early next week, so I am anxious about news of any more procedures or follow-up therapy.

She also wanted to know if there were any Portland dates scheduled for Joe's tour yet. I hated telling her "no, not yet" as this was the worst news she had all day!!! :)

G'Nite Satch Land. And thanks so much again......

Wanda Sue and The Fireman

Hey I was wondering if Joe is planning to come to New Zealand on his Super Colossal tour or any future tours. I for one would definitely go to see him play. Cheers for any help.

OCPS470 - Yes I have been reading some bad things about the powerbrake - I haven't seen anything bad about the Hotplate however! This is the one I have gone for!

Ovation1 - It's a Laney LC15R - you can get the LC15 slightly cheaper but it hads no reverb or effects loop which is essential to me! Don't be fooled by this baby's lower wattage! I can't even get it to notch 1!

One interesting thing i found when researching the hotplate was that in volume a 15W amp is 70% as loud as a 50W amp. This amp is not something that is over a third quieter than a 50W! This site www.amptone.com has loads of interesting stuff on amps. The sort of wattage of an amp for bedroom practice at a reasonable volume would have to be under 1W!!

Just some interesting info there!

962 - Uh oh! I hope I haven't ordered the wrong one! I have the JCM900 and I am running it through a 2 x 12. I'm pretty sure that the JCM900 allows tyou switch between 8 and 16 ohms. Being that it is a 2 x 12 cab I use i'm pretty sure this is 8 ohms hence ordering the 8 ohm Hotplate!

I'm also hoping to be able to use this Hotplate on the Laney as well as I love the tone when it's cranked (only gone 1/2 way so far for one chord as so loud!)

Hopefully it's right!

thefireman:That’s great news bud, all the best for you 2

OCPS: All this talk about the THD hotplate & the Marshall powerbrake brought me to this

http://www.stevesmusiccenter.com/KochLoadboxII.html

I,m led to believe it’s a cut over the rest because you don’t loose tone at a 95% cut in volume, it sounds like a must get over the old Sure sm57 with amp.Grannys don’t appreciate widdlers round these parts, lol

DCK:Have you heard or tried the KochLoadboxll? Link above I also thought this was interesting

http://www.alestrada.com/OD100.htm

Also the Cornford MK50 & Hellcat 35W tone i thought is amazing, just tried them out today but hmmm, i,m on a tone quest for whats in my head so I,m off to visit this company in Barcelona tomorrow

http://www.amptek-es.com/georcust.html

What I need from an amp I,ve not heard yet for me.Its time to talk to a pro A review I found on George amps

Clarky....GT Pro....and....how does it compare to a GT-6 if you've ever tried one?

I tried the TC Electronics G-System the other day...no distortion settings which is fine if you rely on your amp, and I found the Eventide Eclipse to be much more ear candy....although it is soley a rack unit, and comes in at $2000.00....

Doug Doppler....thanks for the help...you're really great!

This is a true account recorded in the Police Log - Sarasota, Florida.

An elderly Florida lady did her shopping and, upon returning to her car, found four males in the act of leaving with her vehicle. She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at the top of her voice, "I have a gun, and I know how to use it! Get out of the car!" The four men didn't wait for a second invitation. They got out and ran like mad.

The lady, somewhat shaken, then proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and got into the driver's seat. She was so shaken that she could not get her key into the ignition. She tried and tried, and then it dawned on her why. For the same reason she did not understand why, there was a football, a frisbee and two 12 packs in the front seat. A few minutes later, she found her own car parked four or five spaces farther down.

She loaded her bags into the car and drove to the police station to report her mistake. The sergeant to whom she told the story couldn't stop laughing. He pointed to the other end of the counter, where four pale men were reporting a car jacking by a mad, elderly woman described as white, less than five feet tall, glasses, curly white hair and carrying a large handgun. No charges were filed.

MORAL OF THE STORY? If you're going to have a Senior Moment, make it memorable!
