Each to there own bud. I'll try once more .... try it with chords if you play Cmaj which is C, E,G and the bass player plays an A root note with it combined it is Am7 right? The Cmajor scale is C<D<E<F<G<A+B. The relative minor is the 6th in this case Aminor. A minor scale is A,B,C,D,E.F+G.

The finger patterns on the fret board you have seven inversions. To produce the modal variations its knowing which inversion you start on to produce the mode you want. I am talking from the practical angle.

I was just giving you a different light to see things in. It amazes me the way that each individual interprets things. It what makes the world the way it is. Sometimes I like to play the Devils advocate just to see how people react. At the end of the day we all get on on this site cos we all love Joe and his music...........

I'll drop you an email

I love Joe's JSX sound but it is short of the live punch that you get from Vai........... Sorry Joe!

Here is a link to Vai's Site that pimps Carvin.

Vai big and bold

Any plans for a DVD release of the Super Colossal tour. RUSH has released two DVD's encompasing their latest Vapor Trails tour. The latest R30 comes with a couple of goodies, picks and such.

This could ease the pain of the underage and travel restricted fans that are missing out on the live performances. I love my Joe Satriani Live from San Francisco DVD as well as the G3. If you do have plans could I suggest more fun behind the scenes stuff?

Thanks.

GUITARMISTER

ITS all personal aint it. Its like one man fancies blondes another one likes brunettes. ITS all down to what you want to be able to do. Personally cos I am experimenting with Techno/Hardcore/Hardhouse etc Im into spacey fx. Ive got a POD line 6 unit which is amazin. I can actually midi up the points in the tunes where I need to switch sounds and its all done for me.I can even midi controll the amount of fx like a filter on a keyboard. Nomore stomping on pedals and I can switch multiple fx on and off simultaneously. When I first got it it took me a while to stop my foot looking for the pedal to stomp on. Its capable of simulating all the classic amp sounds too and when they release new sounds you coan download em aand programe em into your unit. Thats the way its going.

"Two concert-hall ushers were shot during a Kanye West show, police said Wednesday"

I miss read this sentence the first time and started to get excited thinking Usher was shot at a Kanye West show.....

Fu@$king brits, it's that cowboy Tony Blair thats responsible for all this gun violence. If he were just a bit more like Bush.... oops I am really starting again now!

Guitarmeister...I have'nt been able to try either one of those amps you mentioned. It sounds like a tough choice though. I'd go with the one you feel most comfortable with. Also take into consideration that the JSX is 120 watts and the Mesa (I'm presuming) is 50 watts. A 50 watt Mesa (or any other decently made amp) is more than enough power for any situation...clubs, garages...whatever. I'm currently using a Fender Reissue '65 Twin Reverb which is a very powerful 85 watts. So much so, that I am considering buying a Hot Plate so I can get it's full potential without pissing off my neighbors. In the future I will be sure any new amp I buy has the option of switching between 25 watts and 100 watts. Peace, SD

Cuth/Zinc..... Thanks for the support. As for couches. It's buyer beware. Cuth, If your wife experiences frequent nerve problems I'd look into a Chiropractor. It really helps and I believe in it to a point. It's not going to cure anything modern medicine would handle such as cancer, leukemia etc. What it does is puts your body in shape to battle issues it can handle. Common cold, back aches, stomach aches, sinus problems, etc. Check it out if you haven't already. Take Care.

hrh fish...... So you're a Pod Man. Well Alright ....me too. I have the Pod 2.0 and a Pod Pro I use Live with the Line 6 412st bottom and the floorboard. After some research I've decieded against the XTLive and want to go with the XT Pod Pro. With Cindy's recent health issues we'll have to wait on that. I choose the XT Pro over XT live cause of the connections, plus I already have the power amp and bottom and rack. I need the FVB floorboard as I need to switch programs live. But I think it's really great. The Tone Library is amazing isn't it?

HI YA KENIKO

I especially love the Midi capabillities on the unit and the amp simulations are very accurate. One of the studios I session at use em. Larry at Multimedia here in the UK uses em on all his stuff he has people like Glen Hughes, Scott Gorham he works with and they all rave about it.

Vai is an amazing player>. I prefer his earlier stuff with Zappa and Alcatrazz and the Dave Lee Roth stuff. Technically he is flawless but like Malmsteen he showboats a lot. I prefer Satch because he plays for the tune and flashes the ace card now and then. But I still like em both. Again its like one man likes blondes and another brunnettes......

I asked Steve Vai last march 9th at the Cannery Ballroom in Nashville TN, what it was like working with Franky Z, his reply was such.... " I remember when Frank (Zapppa) was interviewed by a television host with one wooden leg.  The host asked him "with all that hair dosen't that make you a girl?" Zappa replied, "with that wooden leg dosen't that make you a table?

I love Zappa, listening to him is like taking my vitamins. My F and Z! I don't think Steve Vai showboats at all. He truly takes putting on the best show he can personally. I think Joe is the same way. I have seen them both and for two greats, their shows are completely different. Mr. Satriani, is a stand out musician on stage and his last tour ITLIS, showcased his talent as almost individual achievement. Of course, Jeff C is truly a force behind the man and I think one of the greatest drummers of all time! Steve Vai, builds a band like the germans build an automobile, built to perform!

P.S. Blonds and Brunnettes are all the same in the end... ;-O

I must say i hav never heard vai boast either. But more importantly i think Steve v and Joe are the greatest guitarists in the WORLD! EVER! along with Eddie Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jimi Hendrix, Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci, Jason Becker and ME (just kiddin). Phew Glad i got that off my chest. sorry about that pointless post but those are my favorite guitarists. about the blondes and bronettes, i seem to like brunettes better but end up with more blondes. How does that work?!

Question for ya, Did you hear about the blonde that invented the solar flashlight? (that would be a solar torch across the pond where youre at)

or my other favorite blond joke,

why are blonde jokes only one liners, so brunnettes can understand them.... oh I am on a roll!

Joe, Thank you very much for releasing some truly incredible music over the years. Each album is always surprising and serendipitous. I just hope there may be a show for us in AVL in the near future (Steve sure enjoyed himself when he was here). Please keep up the hard work and I'll help to keep you employed (lol).

welcome on line bud. I didnt say Vai boasts. He doesnt need to. I was talking about his playing Vai shows off his abillity a lot more with his stuff Joe plays whats right for the song. If you could play as well as Vai you wouldnt have to boast. You let the music do the talking. Steve personally is a very deep and spiritual guy I met him at Hammersmith Odeon on the Skyscraper tour. You end up with blondes cos they're easier to find in the dark !!!!!
