Growler mate, does needing a purpose outside your life (ie God) show that you don't think you have a purpose in your life? It seems to me that you especially would have a purpose in your life as a medical practitioner, to serve patients. Can't you make a purpose for yourself on this earth without resorting to some greater figure/ being to justify your existence? If you completely dismiss evolution as unproven, and i'll admit it's only a theory, then do you believe in intelligent design, or in the actual 7 days of creation in the bible? Also, when you say, and I quote "Those who criticize other religions and their beliefs I ignore" do you mean that Islam etc are just as correct as Christianity? I'm not sure about inferring that Joe Satriani is a role model because he believes in God? Where's the link there? Calling rugby a sheila sport (an Australian expression, by the way) is interesting when guys playing it take physical hits onto their bodies, whereas in probably the closest equivalent in the US, gridiron, they wear body armour and helmets for the same tackles. There's some message in there, wouldn't you agree mate? And I agree with you, the name is pretty crap, but it was a variation of my Virtual Super 14 username, and putting guitar in there probably has a little relevance on a guitarist's forum, would you agree?

Oh my word ....almost had a complete panic there...
I am talking to my best girl friend...and she says "I've got something to tell you...(all excited jumping up and down with a big grin on her face)....you can't tell anyone for three weeks though!"...."OK" say I grinning madly....."I am getting married!"...now I am jumping up and down.
"Twenty"..........OK now I am not jumping up and down...everything is now in slow motion..like the car accident...I am panicking and saying to myself....pleeeeease noooooo, nooooot JUUUUUUNE 20th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Satriella - sweet! I didn't know there was a fan art section of this site. There's some good stuff there - you're new Joe drawing is certainly good enough to be there.
I've always wanted to draw a picture of Joe in concert, with Jimi standing at the side of the stage, just out of the audience's view, looking on in admiration. I've got the whole thing in my head, I just don't think I could do it justice to actually create it.
BTW, have you seen Leonardo DaVinci's notes on anatomy? Things like - 5 eyes can fit perfectly horizontally across your head. The eyes are in the exact middle of your head. The edges of a mouth at rest line up with the middle of each of your eyes. Etc.
They helped me out significantly when I first started drawing faces. Anyway, it looks like you have, taking another quick look at your drawings.
Also, I hear you with important family/friends things conflicting with Joe concerts. It happened to me back with the SBM tour with Dream Theater. It's really not even a tough call, actually, if you really are forced to decide between the two. You know the right thing to do, and you'd eventually feel horrible if you picked Joe over family. Or you should, at least...

Hi Cheese....ONLY 6 hours!!!! Boy you lot have a whole different time/distance scale to us...that's here to Scotland....like...the whole other side of the country...miles!!!!!
Gruskada - Thank you very much for the compliment....I hope Jon feels the same...I know what you mean about perfect drawings in your head...I wish I could draw straight from my imagination....but it just never comes out how you imagined...anyway that's why i don't really like to call myself an artist...more of a fraud.....or forger...coz all I am doing is copying a photo...a REAL artist just draws what he/she sees with his/her eyes or mind's eye!
Anyway...no I didn't know any of that....I have never learned anything on art...I just pick up a pencil and a bit of paper and away I go and that's that...not rocket science hehe.
Family and friends....hmm my brothers never contact me...although I send them cards and see them...my mum spends six months of the year in spain....dad and grandparents dead...so I think I am pretty safe on that front! Hubby will be home to look after the kids, although they can look after themselves....Nothing short of a drastic accident with me being hospitalized...will stop me from seeing JOE JUNE 20th....even then..as long as I could speak I would ask for a transfer to the Hammersmith hospital and sneak out for the night if I have too!!!!

Noppa: Thanks brotha for your comment on Super Colossal, I agree wholeheartedly!.... I really believe this is the best work Joe has done since as long as I can remember!!.... Sure, he was rampant with the legato shred back in the day (and still today, lol), but on this one he lets his melodic soul out like never before.... I am very stoked about this one..I feel Joe has really outdone himself! :-) Stay kuul man, and hope the family is fine....

Mr. Joe Satriani: Love the guitar work in A Cool New Way, you really nailed that one, and I'm sure ALL guitar fans will be blazing that one on lvl. 10, lol!!!!.... And I'm starting to think that The Meaning Of Love is perhaps the best piece of music I've ever heard from you!!.... You explain in the cd jacket (if I remember correctly..the cd is not coming out of my car, lol!!), that you did the melody/solo lines in one take!.... Man, I gotta tell ya, that one really hits me in all the right places.... Groove, rhythm, melody and feel.... More than any song you've done (I'm going back to Surfing), this one really puts me on cloud nine.... I'm still reeling from your melodic vibrato, and wonder how it doesnt make you cry when you play it!!....
Is there anymore you can tell us about this amazing piece Joe, and thanks again for the musical Joe journey....

Jon said it best as did Slanshroom on keeping things civil in here. Take your pissing match somewhere else. Don't get me wrong. I like debates when I choose to involve myself into them and briefly got involved with one on accuracy when playing guitar. The issues with Growler are getting out of hand and I think it's time we douse the flames. Let's try and remember why we come here in the first place. To be friends and to celebrate the man JOE SATRIANI who got us all here in the first place to enjoy his music and what he represents. These actions are not a way to thank Joe, Jon, the band and crew for there hard work. So please stop pissing it's beginning to smell.
Read between the lines as Jon states:
