CUTHBERT - Believe it! This is fueled by personal experience...and South Park.....and my college Economics class.....and other sources. I work at a Walgreens in a small town(maybe 4,000 people, maybe) and Walmart had to put in a superstore a mile outside of town. Now my store is empty half the time because people go to Walmart. I'm the bitch that constantly is found running the front register, which means that I can't leave the front, so I'm stuck there doing random cleaning and folding tshirts. IT SUCKS! Although I do prefer a slow day to a fast one since working a cash register all day is extremely strenuous, IT STILL SUCKS!

WOOOOO, got that out of my system.

Love the new CD.you allways out do yourself great work. Thanks for signig my kids JS guitar at the San Diego Music Trader. I'm waiting for the day when you blow us all away with an Acoustic CD.I love all your music but a unpluged version would be insane. Then you can design a new Ibanez acoustic so I can add another one of your guitars to my collection. Hats of to you.Your not only a great guitar player but a Class Act. I would have to say you signing party in San Diego was the best night I've ever had with my son. Thanks Randy

Joe - I am so Grammilly hopeful for you with this one. The early rockier albums were my favorite and this one seems to bring that back and yet update it and marry a slew of textures, techniques and sounds. I really like it.

CUTHBERT1776 - The way I see it, if they can do this to a small town, one that has very few businesses and the people work at those businesses make their living from that alone, such as in the case of my father that own and operates his own photography studio in my town and has been losing business thanks to the "No-Wait One Hour Digital Photo Printing" places, then yes they are bad for America. Plenty of studies show that Walmart move into a small town, shuts down all local businesses with their "LOW PRICES" then as soon as all competition is wiped out, they jack up their prices. My family can barely afford to live in our house of almost 30 years thanks to places like walmart. My father can barely pay for his car. My mother is a school teacher and she now makes more than my father does. Until all of the businesses like Walmart and Meijer came to our area, my father was making more than enough to support our family. Now that Walmart has moved in, they bought out and are going to throw out a large part of our communtiy because they live in a local trailor park, some of these are decent, honest, hard working people that will now have to pick up and move from their home so that a new Sam's Club can be put in. Add to that there will be a Bigg's put up in my area. Maybe even a Target.

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE SMALL BUSINESSMAN!?! To quote the first Austin Powers movie "There is no world anymore, there is only corporations."

Did anyone else see the new custom Gibson Jimi Hendrix flying V?! Limited edition guitar, only 300 being made. Try and guess the price....

List price: $12,300 Guaranteed Lowest Price: $7999.99 SAVE $4300!

-Guitar Center is the one 'sponsoring' the whole thing.

-WOW!!!You could buy a car with that money! Or, replace your entire rig and buy pretty much everything you really have wanted...I don't think I'd ever spend anywhere near that much on ONE guitar.

Blue Moon I think I'm going to get a plain white pickguard (for my RG) and do some cool artwork like you did. I was bored in physics today while the teach was blabbing and everyone copying notes, I have a pretty sick design I drew across the entire left side of the page. I'll try doing one myself and have my older brother do one for me, he can draw, his will come out way better than mine. Once I get that done, I'll see if I can post up pics. I was wondering how you did all those little designs when I saw the pic, but once I started drawing my own design during physics, I pretty much had to finish it, it all just comes out without even needing to really think. I can draw pretty good, not great, but this came out cool...can't wait to do a pickguard (thanks for the idea!). It should looks sick on my all white RG. White finish, white pickguard covered with a black design, and all black hardware...this should like awesome! Thanks again!

OCPS470- Do you have some sort of physiology degree. Know and understand the extrinsics and intrinsics of the forearm and hand? You may be teaching guitar, but you folks come a dime a dozen. Yu have no supporting evidence to back your statements on speed improvement. Its not all done on the fretboard my egotistical friend. A firm base must be established before skill kicks in. In the scientific world , which you know nothing about, the levels are mobility, stability, controlled mobility, and finally skill. You are jumping way ahead of this student, so my advise is to shut up until you know what your talking about. GRRRRRRROWL! Typical mainland haole. Know it all, and no credentials to back it up.

CUTHBERT1776-Your first reply to my postiing was a bit aggresive. I respect your viewpoint, but yu still have not answered my question as to what our options are? Can you predict the future? Can you find the solution on CNN? The Patriot Act is a fine written document, but thats all it is. A document. In times of war and reality it is overlooked, and rightfully so. I bet your a liberal card carrying member of the communist driven ACLU.

TULSACHOPS-You also must be a liberal. You do know that Clinton was impeached. He is the one who got us in all this mess my means of inaction in the wake of numerous intelligence reports pointing to mid-east aggression towards the US. My good friend, who happens to be head counsel for the FBI here in the islands sites many oversites by Clinton. His problem is that he is a sex addict who was impeached for the wrong reasons. Its Bush who has to clean up his mess! I put no validity or credibility in your posting as your character and actions reflect the effects of heavy intoxication.

Additional comment: Anthony Robbins is a con artist, and his philosophy is common sense to most of us. The sobber ones anyway.

OK, I got off with a slap on the wrist and community service.

I had to promise to pick up trash on the highway and to mention that the events depicted in my previous post did not actually take place and were related to you in an attempt to get you to momentarily unclench your buttocks and perhaps even chuckle, chortle, or even, God forbid, laugh out loud.

In retrospect, I realize that my comments were base, crass, and oafish. I have the mental agility of a small soap dish.

This was Joe's first confrontation with the law... One of our friendly councelors gave him a donut, and told him to stick closer to church-oriented social activities...

Growler: I'm not comming at it from a stand point of ego...I just don't want your advice to screw up someone else who's tryin to learn the guitar that's all. All I can tell you, is that the students that I have working on soloing techniques are slowed down by using too much finger pressure, and trying to gain speed with force and strength. They don't improve until they loosen up and use very little force. Yes, this person probably is jumping the gun, but as he/she was asking about soloing speed, I answered the question. I usually don't start students playing single note things until chords have been mastered. This builds up familiarity and finger control on the gutar before attempting soloing. As far as my qualifications.....I didn't want to talk about myself, but now you've questioned my qualifications, so I'm going to have to spill my credentials. I was taught to use classical left hand posture and have been described by many as having flawless left hand technique. I took lessons from a phenominal guitar teacher for 6.5 years...I took piano lessons from an amazing jazz/ classical pianist for 10 years. As far as my personal credentials, I've played session guitar for clients such as Universal Studios, Ron Jon's Surf Shop, Silicon Optix, Wright Productions, and Dexter Redding (son of Otis Redding). I've taught probably close to 100 students by now and I've been teaching for for almost 9 years. No, I don't have a degree in the physiology of the hand and wrist, but I know what works....sorry if I ticked you off.

Growler- What frickin' planet are you from? After reading your post, one word leaps to mind: B L I T H E R I N G.
Golly, I sure would rather have a leader that was guilty of a sexual indiscretion than one that is pumping billions down the toilet murdering folks in Iraq under the imaginary guise of promoting Democracy!!? Anyone but a total jackass would realize that it's all about big business, sonny. Clinton got us into this mess by inaction?!?! What kind of sh_t have you been smoking, Puna-bud? I could stand a little more inaction like that! H E L L O ! ! Daddy Bush started this whole Vietnam sequel that is nothing short of total global catastrophic embarassment. And am I just imagining the unending string of indictments falling all about this current administration? The problem with some people is that they can't wrap their tiny little minds around anthing without labels on them. Like: Liberal = ACLU , Conservative = good boy, yea! whee! The American working middle class is sick of getting the short end of the stick broken off in their collective asses. If that makes me a Liberal in your book, fine. My previous post was intended as a joke, you moron. You don't have a clue. Why don't you go crack some walnuts between your Conservative tight-ass butt cheeks? I'm doing a special finger exercise for you right now, pal. Why don't you come to Oklahoma sometime and I'll show you how it's done.

Growler...... I concur with OPCS470. Apparently you didn't read my post. OPCS470 does not need me to fight his battles. Well, I'm not really fighting his battle. I'm just agreeing whole heartedly with what he saidalong with Joe. As far as OPCS470's cridentials. Have you heard him play? Enough said there. I'm agreeing with OPCS470 for two reasons. One....he's right ......Two.....It worked for me. ( read my last post) BTW..... A good debate does not neccessarly mean attacking someone. Have a good day.

Should have been.....OCPS470...... My opologies Chris.

Cuth.... You raised the point I was going to make.

At what point did you fail to recognize that the bulk of the comments regarding strength and its perceived ineffectiveness in improving guitar technique were made by Joe Satriani? .......Nice

Bringing up credentials again. Do we really have to debate Joe's?

I think not

Now onto a brighter note. Sorry I had to be so bold in my previous posting but we cant all agree on everything. Education is paramount, especially research, and proven theory.

AUSTIN3R-It's finally "talk story" time. Without being long winded. I met Clapton in 1986 after he completed drug rehab and was touring to support his new release Behind the Sun (its so old I dont remember if that was the title or not). Anyway, I was working at a 5 star French themed hotel called Le Bel Age in West Hollywood, Ca. I was a front desk clerk, and I know Clapton had checked-in and my heart was beating like a rabbit. I worked the night shift 3-11pm and suddenly I emerged from the back office to find Clapton standing there reading his messages. It was slow on my shift, late, and nobody but EC and I. We started talking and I did'nt know what to expect or hear. His accent was almost hypnotic, as I really enjoy listening to the English, Aussie, and Kiwi accents-they are wonderful! He was there for about a week. He gave me tickets to his concert for my girlfriend and I. Of course, it was excellent. He played so long and so hard we actually had to leave before it was over! Every night he would stop by to pick up his messages and we would talk. We were both bored. He had no bodyguards and no other company. After all was said and done, after being held up gunpoint in my garage in Brentwood I was on my way back to Hawaii. What I took back with me from Clapton was a man who had gone thru hell and back. A strong man with a firm, strong handshake who taught me the importance of never being satisfied with your accomplishments, but to keep moving forward, experimenting, and as he put it "stretching". This is exactly what JS is doing and look at the success. He does not look at himself as a guitar god. He is humble, as is JS. The best are. When other musicians play with Clapton, they play with him because they love him for the person he is. Clapton does not walk on water my friend, only one God did that. It's the public, like yu and I who exalt him into this position. We discussed many subjects during this down time and I will treasure them always. Clapton is small in stature, but brother he is a GIANT when he straps on that Strat. Hang Loose AUSTIN. Next subject, the Oz. GROWL OUT

Cuth:On your last post TO ME, lmao, I believe thats why the cold war ended. The peeps in the U.S. knew they had a much more effective war machine. The Russians harnessed the ideas of present day scientists, while others were fighting with their egos.I mean, wasnt it NASA that spent millions to make a pen work upside down & in space. What did the Russians do?......they took a pencil.

Ok so NASA, Locheed Martin etc. are trying t make it better, but a little cop on for their own peeps wouldnt go amis, like spending those countless billions of flunked flying crates on the people that go to fight their wars....oh your black....front line for you sir mentality arseholes, why do black people get such a hard time?I dont get it
