The whisteling space ship effects are pick screams or pinched harmonics. Hit the string with your pick and catch it with the thumb of your pick hand. You can do this on any string but try this on the third string with a finger on the fifth or seventh fret. You will also need some sustain on the distorion / overdrive effect on your amp or pedal. After you hear a high pitch squeal give the wammy bar some abuse. You'll have hours of endless fun with this. There are lots of different ways to produce harmonics. You need to buy a good book that covers harmonic techniques.

Other players to check out that use this technique Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde, Bernie Torme, Nuno Bettencourt, Brad Gillis and Adrian Belew. A lot of these guys including Joe have a whole arsenal of tricks. Just keep an open mind and try experimenting.

ovation - lol...

Captain Steve - Jamie doesn't play guitar in the band; he only does vocals. I really think stuff like that will at least be improved during the mixing process. Thanks for listening man!!

Satriella - lol... Yeah, I think I typed the adress a little wrong. Hope you like the songs...

Suzie - Thanks. It's funny you should ask, coz we auditioned someone today who seems like the right person for the job. Fingers crossed!

Delfino - Thanks dude. We love the artwork too; it was done by some guy at Deviant Art called Marlon. Wicked image...

Stevee T - Cheers man! Glad you like the stuff.

civgeek - No, we're not. e want that URL though... lol

OCPS - Dude, I can totally appreciate the "not my bag" thing. Metal ain't for everyone. But yeah, 'Changes' was somewhat of a departure for me. The RECOIL stuff is more like what I do.

Joe, or anyone on here, could you please tell us what the woman is saying during the beginning of "Flying In A Blue Dream"? I've been puzzled a bit by it for a while now, and the recordings I have don't clearly make out what she says...Any answers are much appreciated :)

COSMIC APE

Thats one big difference between the law in the UK and US. I've stuck up for some of my mates in the past and spent a few nights in cells. The police charge you with disturbing the peace and you spend 24 hours in a holding cell and you usually get a caution if it's a misdeminer. Its very rare that you get sued unless you have put someone in hospital. One stupid law over here allows people who have injured themselves while burgaling your house to sue you for damages !!

I remember helping this seventy year old guy. He was crossing the road and this young kid rode his bike straight over his foot. The old man just shouts back mind wear you're going. The kid turns round and gets right in this guys face hurling abuse at him. The old man is severly bronchial and uses a walking stick. I stepped in when the kid lunges at the old guy. I grab his right arm using his momentum pull him forward and he falls flat on his face. I usher the guy and his wife into the near buy shop where I hold the door. The police are called and they get him. It took four of them to hold the kid down. They took me in as well to find out what was going on as I was seen fighting the kid.

I turn up in court defending the old guy. The kids prosectution acused me of starting the row. I spoke consisley and because I had witnesses that corobarated my version of the facts the kid gets sent down. The police told me he was a crack head. They found him in possesion of a tazzer and searched his house and found other weapons and class A narcotics. Tazzers are illegal in the UK and he faced four years aloane for that charge. Due to the kids stupidity he ends up with an eight year sentence !! Just shows you how stupid people can be.

Thats the industry trying to pigeon hole a style of music. When ever something different comes along they give each genre a name so they can figure out a marketing stratergy. Personally it doesn't bother me what style of music a particular artiste plays there's good and bad in all forms of music. Pigeon holing stuff can put people off listening to material that they might like. If it sounds good it is good !! :-)

Musicians always look to their peers for inspiration. People learning to play always want to emulate their personal hero's. As musicians learn the insrument their own style is influenced by a voice usually who they like listening to the most. People look up to Joe the same way Joe looked up to people like Jeff Beck.

mthead101 & ImHendrix Just sent 2 emails. 1st one has lessons, the 2nd one will help even more...guide to building the simpler arpeggios.

Advice, for sweep picking arpeggios, I'd start out just working on the sweeping technique. You can even just mute the strings until you have the technique down really well. Start with just 3 strings, then build up to all of them. Start slow, gradually pick up speed - but make you it's all ACCURATE while you build speed! Just mute the strings, use the up-down-up-down... sweeping. Make sure each string is muted right after it is hit, you don't want to strum it and make it sound like you are just strumming chords. It's really a lot easier to see someone doing it than explaining it.

Try and find John Petrucci's Rock Discipline DVD (I got a copy off Amazon.com in the 'used & new' area, brand new for $30). He covers most of the basics and essentials. Don't let the price of it keep you from getting it, the DVD helped me out A LOT, really helped me get to where I'm at now....speed is nothing without accuracy. Like I said, it's a lot better to actually see this technique than read about it. Any questions, just ask.

Listend to a little bit of your MX track I'll listen to it all later cos my PC is a little stroppy when it comes to multi tasking. It sounds like you can play. You have a good knowledge of getting different tones from your guitar and have good technique controll. The opening ballad intro needs some counter melodies every sixteen bars or so and ocassional burtsts of speed from the verse into the chorus. Even though it's a beautiful melody and you throw variations of the phrase out you need to add some 'ornaments' to hold the listeners interest, not all over the place just every now and then. You get interesting ideas and need to keep working at it:-)

Satriella,

I'm sorry your having trouble having my site display properly. Thanks for telling me.

Can you please tell me what web browser you are using.

My site uses frames, but when I wrote the code for it I tried to account for those that possibly had older web browsers that didn't support frames.

I downloaded another web browser that supports disabling frames and my site appeared to work fine.

Not to insult your intelligence, but when you view my site, do you have a scroll bar to the right on your screen to scroll further down the page?

If you are not already, try viewing the site with Internet Explorer 6.

The only other thing I can think of is that there is a security setting in your web browser or a piece of FireWall software on your computer that may be blocking the content for some reason.

I'm just trying to figure out why it is not working for you. Any clues you can provide will be helpful. Thanks for trying to view my site.

lonerocker.com

Here is a link to my original tune, "Just Jammin"

Thanks

Is anyone else having trouble viewing my web site??
