Hi Joe S., we attended the concert last Saturday, 05/06/06 at the Wiltern, L.A. It was a great concert! We have the standing tickets and got one of your pick after the second song. Also, thank you for taking the time to autographed the pictures. I was the one with the silver marker. Thank you and God bless.

962,

I'm assuming you saw the picture of my Carvin on my web site. If not, here's the link:

www.lonerocker.com

The guitar is a Carvin DC127C. It has Carvin C22 humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions. It has an Original Floyd Rose Bridge and neck-thru the body construction. I stayed with the alder body and maple neck but opted for the GreenBurst finish on a quilted maple top.

I am very impressed with the guitar. It plays great. I would say that it has all the best features of an Ibanez JS1000 and a Jackson Soloist all roled into one.

It has a thin body and two humbuckers similar to the JS1000. The medium jumbo frets are similar in feel to the Ibanez as well.

It has 24 frets, neck-thru construction, and an Original Floyd Rose like the Jackson Soloist.

I like the tone and output of the Carvin pickups every bit as much as Seymour Duncan and Dimarzio pickups that I have used.

If you are ever in the market for a new guitar, I would highly recommend Carvin. You can always send it back if you don't like it. Don't get me wrong, I love my Ibanez and my Jackson, but I love my Carvin equally as much.

One thing that I personally think about when getting a guitar is parts availability if I need something either fixed or replaced in the future. I personally have had a hard time getting parts for my Ibanez. I have been waiting for 3 months for replacement bushings for my bridge. (i.e. the plastic rings that go on the end of the trem bar that inserts into the bridge.

Anyway, that's my take on my Carvin.

Satriella,

You are going to love seeing Satriani when he comes to your area. I'm happy that you are finally going to get to see him play. Be sure to get a T-Shirt if you can.

962,

One more thing. That's soooo cool that you were able to get a Carvin Steve Vai Legacy amp.

How does it sound??

Which amp specifically do you have?

Steve T - Thanks. We know there are still lots of kinks to work out but every week practice is a little better then the week before. The gigs are private parties. The first of which is in 12 days. Not sure if we are going to be completely ready ... but the idea is to get out and do something with no expectations. It will be a glorified rehearsal. The one in June is a paying gig that we will need to be a bit sharper for. We tenatively have one for July that is no money but HUGE exposure. Unfortunately, tonight I have a big lab report to write and more HW to do so there will be no playing of the geetar. :(

GROWLER

178 posts total | IP Logged

I'm really jealous about all the fans that attended the show in San Diego and got a replay of the 1st G3 jam. JS, SV, and EJ doing 2 of my favorites Red House, and Going Down! I play Going Down every time I practice to warm up. I've tried playing it at warm up in church but some people thought it not appropriate so I retitled it Going Up! I say this alot when holding an elevator for somebody.

You ripping lead guitarists out there 962, Death Cube, Cosmic Ape, 5150_Alien, etc. Speaking of the song Going Down. All of you guys have heard this song off the SRV box set w/dvd, with SRV dualing Jeff Beck right? Now this is a purely subjective question to you guys, as I am a bassist and a mere pond on this site. Who do you favor and why. Maybe you have no favorite. Thats cool. I cant say I have an absolute standout off the !st G3 jam. All 3 were awesome. Now compare SRV, Jeff Beck and the G3 if you like and have time. I'm interested because I respect all of your music and your opinions. Thank you kindly gentlemen. Growler........

Deathcube - Not sure on Wicked. The drummer went and sold all his drum mics for a Roland drum brain to convert things over to electronic. Not sure why, he has a nice acoustic set but hey I'm just the guitarist. Why do I play 4 different guitars? So... the recording is on hold until they get all that sorted out. I have a couple versions with the break being f&*#ed up if you want to hear. Right now with the gigs comin up there will be more focus on just getting a recording that we can use for tweaking than a recording for people to hear.

Are there any plans for a webcast or, better still, an official dvd release from this tour? As usual, I'm way out of touch. If someone could clue me in, that'd be great.

Thanks.

marimari...steven has a new number...i shall be mailing it to yu when i am done with this post..he was asking about you and how yu are....i had a very long talk with him..longer than normal and the balance in my cell phone was next to none after i had finished ..anyway as long as i get to talk with him,it doesnt matter how much i get to use my phone as talking with steven gives me a lot of satisfaction especially now that he hardly post or mail anymore.....he is not doing too well and might have to consult a doctor soon...so do get in touch with him...bye....

lucysorets...hi sis....get well soon.....no matter what i shall always be praying for yu...hope yu get back to yur normal ways again soon.......have a wonderful day and god bless...btw,jordan is not doing any better...but God forbid he should be OK soon....pleae remember him in yur prayers...

alexandre...hi bro....why do yu disappear so often ..????hope yur fine...

zenfish..hey bro..jordan is on the mend but the flu would take some time before it leaves him completely...the doctor says that it would be another 3/4 days before he gets back to his normal self again......but thank god ,we dont have to stay up the whole night anymore coz after he has had his dinner,we give him the normal dose of medication and since we have to give him three types of medicines now.it takes its toll on him and falls asleep soon after....except when the cough gets really rough.....do pray for him ...please....peace and god bless...
