Hi there Joe,

My name is Mike, I’ve had the opportunity to meet you several times and have been a BIG fan for going on 20 years.

I run Guitar KnowledgeNet which is one of the more popular guitar instruction sites in the world. The site has been going strong now for over two years and has helped thousands of kids and adults but now I want to expand a little and start adding an interview section with several of my favorite guitarist. This is why I’m posting this

I would love it so much if you would agree to give GKN the opportunity of a short interview about your approach to theory and playing in general.

I’m sure before agreeing to this you would want to have someone check out the site. You could also point them to the Feb. 2005 issue of Guitar Techniques that spotlighted GKN. I figure this is a long shot but if you are willing please have someone contact me.

Thanks so much, Mike www.GuitarKnowledgeNet.com

I've been busy! And so have you...

GROWLER --

NO! THAT'S NOT ME PLAYING IN THE SNOW! That's some Norwegian kid. But oddly his style is similar to mine...hmmm (?)

Okay! Now... one thing I appreciate is professionalism. Having said that: THANK YOU for the pro insight on dealing with injuries. Like I already said... but more plainly speaking... I DON'T KNOW S***T ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO KAYLA'S ARM! But I still have to say that the exercise I described works fine for me! Thanks again! You didn't piss me off...lol :D Can I call you "Doctor" GROWLER? :)

... And on that note...

Kayla --

How's the arm? I hope it's not as serious as it sounds.
...oh... just read this: ok...so my wrist still hurts....but i massaged it for like 2 hours yesterday and its a little loser (my god i cant spell. lol.) and i can actually play today...so i have been playing for a while.... :DDD....better play while i can!. Thank God!!! ...lol... I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I had ruined your playing career...phew!... that's a chip of the shoulder. Get good now! ,)

ovation1 --

Thanks for the mojo :)

Satriella --

I read about Justyn on your town's paper web-site. Didn't realize you new him. Sorry for your loss.

...Nice place you're living in BTW. Reminds me a lot of my own hometown -- Bjelovar....

Anyway...

About the "a sinch" thing... You see... that's what I originally thought you meant.. but then I remembered my e-mail address listed on my profile... so that kinda got me of track...lol... Just so you know, you can throw virtually anything from the English language at me, and be AT LEAST 95% sure I'll understand what you mean. Sometimes I can express myself better in English than in Croatian...lol... Sometimes I get the feeling that I was an English literature professor in my past life :D So express yourself as you wish. If I don't get it I'll ask...lol .... hey.... .... I just remembered I read somewhere that a person's ability to learn languages or at least the speed they learn at, or how well they pronounce the words, depends a lot on the ears' ability to detect minute details in what they hear (Celine Dion, though of Canadian-French origin, spoke English perfectly after only a couple of months of learning!). Being that I'm a musician, I think that's what is behind my unexplainable talent for the English language. I'm not sure whether it applies to all foreign languages that I'll ever speak, because unfortunately English is the only one I've so far had a chance to learn actively.

Anyway...just saying...I know what you mean...I get the jokes... I just sometimes don't get some of the web-slang. It took me forever to figure out what "lol" means. Thanks to Wiki :).

Oh yeah! (eureka!!!) Matt Murphy = The Blues Brothers!!! ...lol... I knew that name sounded familiar and I just couldn't remember where I heard it mentioned. I never really heard the band other than a few songs ... I remember Murphy from the movie... y'know... ... with Dan Aakroyd and John Belushi ... ... haha that's such a crazy film ....lol....

And yeah! Read my post for the Webmaster. You are not alone! :)

cosmic_ape --

Big thumbsUP for the tune on soundclick! Sounds nice... free software... I don't believe it.... haha.... just kidding ...lol! What did you use?

Webmaster --

What Satriella described has happened to me too. Just a while ago I remember missing a post by Paul Fisher (aka Hrh Fish). Now... I thought I just probably didn't see it and just concluded that it was my mistake. But then Satriella mentioned something similar and I have to say it happens all too often. So... here's what I do:

I click the "Set this message as last read" little blue link and all the pages that I've visited turn back to the "non-visited-link" color (a lighter shade of blue). When I browse again through those pages I often find messages that I'm sure were not there. "Why do I browse again?", you ask. I always like to have a bit of board history for reference, so I leave 5 or 10 pages clickable (the numbers at the top and bottom). In order to mark what I've already read I need to browse through the same pages again so the little page numbers at the top and bottom turn to the "visited-link" color (darker shade of blue). And that's how I noticed this problem.

I hope this helps!

P.S. -- I hope Joe get's back to Dagianni. This guy is for real. I never heard him play but he IS a talent. I recommend Joe checks him out.

Joe --

Check him out! When you find the time.

-----------------------------TEN WORDS--------------------------

when i hear Ten Words....i get this empty feeling inside like im all alone cause my sister is gone....and i feel like im loved greatly by someone wonderful and hated by someone i love truely. I feel like theres something very important missing in my life and theres nothing that can feel it just a certain someone. and also i feel like when that terrible day comes and i hear the terrifying news....i'll just fall to the ground and not know what to do, not know how to live, not know where to go, not know where to turn. and....when i hear Ten Words....i catch myself gasping for air.

Yeah I must say that's a very nice scratchplate you have there.

However, the guitar, I am not so sure about... reminds me of the Wangcaster...

Fellow Satch fans, does anyone know if its ok to make videos of Joe's music using backing tracks?

Such as this video of Ten Words:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysJiQBemT-A

Joe rocked Vancouver on May 10th. It was great to finally meet the man.

Luck1001..... Nice cover of Ten Words. I really can't answer your question cuz I'm not a lawyer. They way I think it works is....if you don't make money off this video and you name the artist that recorded the song as you did I don't think there's a problem. Look at it this way. If it was illegal You Tube wouldn't be allowed or want to post the videos of cover songs for legal reasons. Where did you pick up the backing track? Thanks

Keniko, thanks for the reply and comments. :)

Now I understand it a bit better. As for backing tracks, this site is simply amazing!! Check it out:

There are tons of backing tracks here....and they are well done.

GOTTAHAVEJOE: Kayla, you take care of your arm! Some of those stretches for guitar are painfull. Take the practices like that for short periods. Steven has small hands and he found a way to play two-handed tap with his one small hand! That's why he sounds like Beck/Vai. I have really big hands and I can stretch. I still do two-hand tap, but I ammend it with my "Pick Slide" technique. Sort-of Van Halen meets Schon. (SP) Keep in mind while your learning new stuff for the guitar, the times you rest, you mind works out all the details. So.....rest is very important! I have had passages i've wanted to learn....worked on them all day ...with out success....and then after a breather....there it is! Check out some of the cool links to guitar knowledge here by other t2jers! Good stuff folks. JOE: I just found some cool picks of you with your chrome-boy and in red stripes! And one of you with your new 7-string. Awsome tour this year...and you just got started! Break a leg out there! Randell KTF

Hello everyone,

I have a question. I did the platinum package for the May 10th show. I still haven't recieved any link or password so I can get my pictures. Does anyone know how long it takes John to get the pictures up from the show. He said 7 to 10 days. It has been 10 days and still no sign of the pictures. Can anyone help me out or am I just being impatient! Appreciate any feedback on this issue! Thanks again Joe for an experience of a lifetime! If anyone gets the chance to do the backstage experience I would highly recommend it, it was amazing!
