Hrh Fish - Indeed, the show must go on. But so too must the career. We'r eonly an unsigned, local act at the moment. Taking too time out due to injury ain't gonna piss anybody off. We didn't have a second guitarist for ages anyway - luckily the two set backs coincided I guess... lol

Satriella - there's nothing wrong with Stevie Wonder; that's some of the funkiest shit you'll ever hear!!!

Here's a wee question for Joe.

Please would there be any chance for you to play here in Belfast Northern Ireland at all? There are quite a few awesome venues to choose from here :)

If I have to get down on my knees and beg ya I will :)

I was hoping to get across to Glasgow in June, but canny make it due to my wife being pregnant.

I know I've proably asked the question before a while back, but could'nt find that particular post.

Please do an Ulster man proud :)

Best wishes to the band & Good luck with the curent tour.

Quote of the day ~ HA HA HAAAAA! I love it!!!!

"when you encounter a troll in the forest, start your chainsaw, & cut"

Shit man yeah!!!

As for the M&M's - I bought a bag of pink ones yesterday :) It says that they will donate .35 cents from every 14 oz. bag, and .50 cents from every 21.3 oz. bag to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. It's all to bring awareness to the cause.

They also have a website ~ www.komen.org and a toll free number 1 800 I'M AWARE (1 800 462 9273)

CHECK YER BOOBIES, GIRLS!!!!

chelles....I lub the quote of the day... :)) Plus, sooo impressed at yer ability to do linkies...keep em coming, cool way to start the day!!

And LOOKIE HERE!!! for some incredible concert shots of Joe, Eric and Steve Vai in LA....I found the link in the road section under a concert review.....some beautiful pics there....I love the one of Joe and Steve hugging...and there's even a couple where it looks like light is coming directly from the headstock on Joe's git....verrrrrry coolio. Joe is just so darn photogenic!

Sigh....they look like they had SUCH a good time together :) Steve's shorter hair is pretty cool too....

Kayla, try not to despair, there's a reason for everything that happens, and while we may not like it at the time, (like u and me missing our Joe shows, or u missing yer sissie) it usually turns out the way it's supposed to be in the end.

Keniko, :)

LOVE YA JOE!!! :)

Hmmm, where's that chainsaw.

Hey Satchland people, Finally getting to post after the Warfield show,(my 12th time seeing Joe live!). I don't know what the deal was with Eric Johnson's mix during his set, but the bass was way to high and it muddied up everything. They tried to fix it after everyone was yelling to turn down the bass, but they never really did.It was a shame because I know how good Eric Johnson can sound and we didn't get to hear that until the end of the show when he joined Joe and John A.. That mess aside, Joe's mix was perfect! I know that Joe has the right guys backing him up on this tour and it shows in the way Joe played and sounded. It was the best I've heard out of the 12 shows I've seen of his.He was in rare form, (which was total mastery and perfection of his craft!). For me, it was a spiritual experience!. Dave is my favorite bass player and I got to see him work his magic with Joe and his music. The band was as tight as I think it is possible to be on stage. I am no longer amazed at the stuff Joe does after so many shows of seeing him do it, (or maybe I should say that I'm just use to being blown away by his awe inspiring display of guitar perfection!),but this show was the best example of that I've ever seen! I have never heard Joe sound better! Also, I was glad that Eric sounded better playing with Joe at the end because he is too good of a guitar player to have his music muddied by the mix and to be remembered that way by anyone seeing him for the first time. I sure hope Joe's set was recorded because it was a special night and it would be wonderful if that magic was captured.

Thanks Webmaster for posting the pictures from the show as I was able to spot myself in one of the photos showing the crowd!

Anyone going to any of the remaining shows on this tour can look forward to seeing the band at their best! I can say this with total confidence because I have seen Joe 12 times and this was by far the best, an entirely different experience.Joe has moved from the level of "perfection" to a level above perfect, (more perfect??),(incredibler??),(perfectionest???),you get the idea.

Joe, thanks for making all the right choices in your music career to bring your fans the best music humanly possible. You keep improving on perfection in a way that defies all logic and belief of the realm of possibilities.Your hard working ethics and desire to always reach further are inspirational to all of us fans and we can't thank you enough.

I'm looking forward to show number 13 whenever and wherever that may be,hopefully soon!!!Best Wishes on the rest of the tour!

Alright ANTON SHRED! Way to lay into captain stevie bro. This asswipe needs to cast off again! As they say in the martial arts, he needs a good rear naked stiff one or is that choke. What these wipes will call us is trolls buddy. You know at one time they tried to kick me off this website? Hrh Fish is also an asswipe know it all. You will find that they have this click going on. They think of themselves as upper class posters. For their information WW2 is still going on where it originated here in Hawaii. The Japanese are still at odds with the Caucasians after all these years. There was no official end to WW2. We still have thousands of Pearl Harbor service personnel trapped under the Arizona with oil still gushing from the vessel. Thanks for bringing it up agaiin jerk. Your right about what stevie boy plays man! Keep on shredding anton shred. I'm with you buddy! The important thing is to have fun while picking these guys apart. Dont take it seriously as this task is an easy one. Keep on truckin! GROWLER having fun again. I love this site!

Anton Shred - I have heard of Doppler but never seen him. I have been a member here longer than most but don't post as frequently as most. I don't have anything that interesting to say most of the time. Not sure if you have seen Joe more than me or not. Good for you if you have. I guess I have seen him 15 times and met him on 12 of those occasions. But i am not star struck nor do i really care too much about numbers. I agree though that its always a pleasure to see him.

Study finds Wal-Mart contributes to poverty

A study focused on the effects of Wal-Mart stores on poverty rates found that an estimated 20,000 families nationwide have fallen below the official poverty line as a result of the chain's expansion.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc., based in Bentonville, Ark., ranked No. 5 on the St. Louis Business Journal's most recent list of the area's largest employers. As of Dec. 31, Wal-Mart employed 13,005 people in the St. Louis metro area.

The study -- Wal-Mart and County-Wide Poverty -- written by Stephan Goetz, a professor of agricultural and regional economics at Pennsylvania State University, and Hema Swaminathan for the International Center for Research on Women, was published in the latest issue of Social Science Quarterly.

Authors, Goetz and Swaminathan write that the presence of Wal-Mart was "unequivocally associated" with smaller reductions in family-poverty rates in counties nationwide during the 1990s relative to places that had no stores.

During the last decade, dependence on the food stamp program nationwide increased by 8 percent, while in counties with Wal-Mart stores the increase was almost twice as large at 15.3 percent, according to the study. Although Wal-Mart employs many people living in its communities, for most, the hours worked and the wages paid do not help these families transition out of poverty, the study said.

The study, which sought to identify the independent effect of Wal-Mart stores on changes in U.S. family-poverty rates at the county level, found that one of the greatest effects of a Wal-Mart opening is the closing of mom-and-pop-type operations.

The authors state in the study that "by displacing the local class of entrepreneurs, the Wal-Mart chain also destroys local leadership capacity."

Poverty rates will rise if retail workers displaced from existing mom-and pop-type operations work for Wal-Mart at lower wages because they have no alternatives, all else equal, according to the study.

The demise of mom-and-pop stores leads to the closing of local businesses that supplied those stores, such as wholesalers, transporters, logistics providers, accountants, lawyers and others. Many of these are higher-paying jobs. The study concludes that it is likely that these more highly-educated individuals depart from the rural community in pursuit of better opportunities elsewhere, contributing to the rural-to-urban exodus over the last decade, leaving behind those with fewer opportunities and raising the poverty rate by reducing the number of nonpoor households in the denominator.

Wal-Mart is estimated to employ no more than 2 percent of the average county's work force. The share of Wal-Mart's employment in total county retail jobs is substantially greater than only 2 percent. In addition, the Wal-Mart jobs may be part time as opposed to full time, leading to lower family incomes, all else equal, the study said.

A spokesperson for Wal-Mart was unavailable to comment for this story.
