Phew.

Just had my first cup of coffee of the day. We had the Newcastle show last night. Really excellent show, albeit miles too hot where we were sitting! Highlights for me: Opening with Flying, Redshift Riders kicking arse and sounding like classic Satch, Super Colossal being, well, COLOSSAL, Surfing being amazing, and Crowd Chant being the most fun I've had at a show in aaaages.

Of course, I bought the premium package for me and my dad, as a Father's Day gift to my dad. We had to meet at the venue at 5pm, and he only found out what was going on when I gave him his Father's Day card, complete with waiver for him to sign, in the car park at 4:45pm! It was great, he was totally lost for words, and almost cried, which is so unlike him.

Anyway, we had a great time. Watching Johnny A's soundcheck was cool, as was getting to talk to him on the stage for a little while. He's a really good opener for Joe. The tour was good, and we talked a lot with John Iverson, who, I have to say, did a really good job and helped make our experience go really, really well.

After the show, the meet-and-greet with Joe was great. Of course, it had to be fairly brief, because it's late and Joe has other people to meet, but it was a fantastic experience, and my dad was totally thrilled to bits by the whole thing, which made it all the better for me.

Sadly, I didn't catch any names, but if you're reading, hi to the young couple from Scotland (to the girl, sorry you didn't find your hat!), and the very nervous lady from Denmark. I hope your experience went as you wanted it to!

So, a great night from start to finish. Many thanks to Joe, for taking the time out to do these things, and to John for putting it all together.

And now for my second cup of coffee.....

HrhFish- You're going to the pub at 1p.m.... you will be wrecked by the time the show starts! lol

NJBEAST- Thanks for info- could you also answer one really silly question... but... how many types of ID do you need to take? I think that's a bit daft, as I bought 3 tickets for us that are going, but they were paid for originally on my card... so it could be anyone going anyway! Sounds excellent, can't wait... about signing guitars though, don't most people just take the scratchplate or whatever? That seems easier / safer to me.

PaulEMoz- glad it all went well for you and your Dad! Sounded amazing...

Hey Joe! I went to your gig at Newcastle city hall last night, and it was fantastic. I have your Live in San Fransisco DVD, and I reckon this performance was better than that one, even though that one was absolutely awesome too! I suppose I have one question for you in particular, as I have found the answers to most questions regarding phenominal technique in your articles etc ;): How do you select your backing band? I was absolutely amazed to see Dave Larue on bass with you last night. I am an absolutely MASSIVE FAN of the Dixie Dregs, (please let this be known), and I would LOVE them to come and play some gigs in the UK. How do you hook up with such brilliant and varied musicians? Thanks for one of the best gigs I have ever been to. You are an inspiration! :)
