Simon Phillips.

Great drummer Joe, but, mind you, like in Toto and on the tracks 6,7,8 and 9 on Super Colossal, most of the time he is not on the background. Will he be playing more for you or does he stay with Toto?

Thanks for the concert in Amsterdam,

John.

btw, my nickname is Dutch for tinnitus. Be careful with your ears Joe!

OCPS - I can't see keys doing any damage at all...

they'll simply sound like crap because keys require something more like a PA or hi-fi.. something with a wider freq response..

guitar amps / cabs are "tuned" to bring out guitar characteristic freqs...

with respect to the bass breaking stuff... you can screw guitar speakers even with a guitar.... throw the guitar thru a parametric.. boost the lo freqs and crank the amp.... so it's not just basses and keys that can damage cabs and speakers... stupidity with guitars can too...

I guess the output of a keyboard with the volume set flat out may also be somewhat hotter than even a hot guitar... because keys have their own pre-amp... so you may find things a little better sticking the keys through the FX return and controlling things from the keyboard... it should still sound a bit crap though..

you're better off slinging the keys into the mixing desk and playing them back through the monitors / PA..

lol... top tip.. lol...
for best results with a guitar amp...
erm...
use guitars..

lmao...

sorry bro.. couldn't resist that.. lmao..

Spiderman outs himself to the press

NEW YORK (AFP) - For a comic book hero, it's the ultimate taboo.

In the latest edition of the Marvel comic "Civil War" on sale, Spiderman does the unthinkable and removes his Spidey mask to publicly reveal his hidden identity.

"I'm proud of who I am, and I'm here right now to prove it," the legendary webslinger tells a press conference called in New York's Times Square, before pulling off his mask and standing before the massed ranks of reporters as newspaper photographer Peter Parker.

"Any questions?" Parker asks in the final panel of the issue, amid a barrage of camera flashes.

In a statement, Marvel trumpeted the revelation as "arguably the most shocking event in comic book history."

The seven-issue "Civil War" series, launched in May, sees Marvel's writers taking on the topical issue of civil liberties.

Following a showdown between a group of superheroes and supervillains in which hundreds of innocent civilians are killed, the government passes the Super-Hero Registration Act, requiring all superheroes to reveal their identities and register as "living weapons of mass destruction."

Marvel's roster of invincible crime fighters is split into two bitterly opposed factions, with one camp -- championed by the likes of Spiderman -- in favour of the new law and the other, including Captain America and his ilk, refusing to relinquish anonymity.

"It's about which side you are on and why you think you are right," said Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Joe Quesada.

....You know, I did have this huge post (over 1,000 characters!) written to slanshroom about the Orion Beer Factory tour (lol, check out the promo vids), a note to 962 about how I've always liked DLR and think he is the greatest rock frontman to ever jump the stage, with a post to Satriella about how I hope her new job is going well, and to cheese101 about being a great parent to her son for the great graduation gift, lol, and a post to Suzo that it was kuul to see her, Zenman and the gang hook-up, with a post to illuminata that I was so stoked to see she made the Mike Keneally show (and that his Guitar Therapy & Dog cd/dvd editions are JUST INCREDIBLE!!!! Mike RULEZ!), then to TomSr about kudos to his son, while hoping mthead101 feels better and to bahduh telling him I will get an email back to him soon, and that Brazil may not win the World Cup, lol, and to PhryDom for a toast to his Dad, then to castle49 for the loss of her cat, then to mick87 for a big YO man, long time no see, and to Suzo (again) and mikesb for some really kuul Tele abuse, lol...., but then, by accident, I deleted it all, so this is the short of the long of it, haha!! ;-)

....Sorry if I missed anyone, lol....

ok...........admittedly.........I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer........

My beautiful wife goes shopping the other day and picks up a tube of Crest toothpaste......not the regular old flavor....one of those new ones that you've seen Emeril promoting in the ads........the one she ended up selecting was "Citrus Splash"

Who managed to get that flavor by the powers that be....

If I wanted to brush my teeth with orange juice, I think I'd add vodka & cranberry to it first

I really need just plain old minty fresh..............some things in this world just shouldn't be tinkered with!!!!

What's next.........................Liver Jello?........Broccoli Ice Cream?............. Asparagus Chewing Gum?....... Chicken Pudding?.........Beef Burgundy Diet Coke?

BTW.......don't get the idea that I blame my wife at all for her sense of adventure in trying new things.....

Savor the taste of life......but watch out what ya put in yer mouths!!!!!!!!

Peace......................................................John

Zenfish I bet Steve would pick Lucky Charms over Attitude Song, I would too. P&W is a great album, but put it up against The Ultra Zone, the songs on that CD are amazing! I even like Vai's Real Illusions CD a lot, most of the songs are really different from most of his other work and what you'd hear from other musicians. You've probably heard/seen Vai's EP, right?! Alien Love Secrets... I got the Alien Love Secrets VHS (was going to wait for the re-release of it on DVD sometime soon, I'll still get it) from Dave Weiner... Tender Surrender, KILL THE GUY WITH THE BALL, what an unbelievable EP!

MarimariSRV Thanks again, I sent you two songs that I played on, check them out when you get the time. Dream Theater - As I Am and DT's - Speak To Me. I'll talk to you later.

-Graduation tomorrow! One more day! Woooo!

It's old, but still funny ~

Social Tips for Rednecks (and just plain good advice) In General...

1. Never take a beer to an interview. 2. Always identify people in your yard before shooting them. 3. It's considered tacky to take a cooler to church. 4. If you have to vacuum the bed, it's time to change the sheets. 5. Even if you're certain that you're included in the will, it's rude to drive a U-haul to the funeral..

Dining Out 1. When decanting the wine from the box, make sure you tilt the paper cup and pour slowly so as not to 'bruise' the fruit of the wine. 2. If drinking directly from the bottle, always hold it with your hands.

Entertaining in your home 1. A centerpiece for the table should never be anything prepared by a taxidermist. 2. Do not allow the dog to eat at the table, no matter how good his manners are.

Personal Hygiene 1. While ears need to be cleaned regularly, this job should be done in private using one's own truck keys. 2 Even if you live alone, deodorant is not a waste of money. 3. Use of proper toiletries can only delay bathing for a few days. 4. Dirt and grease under the fingernails is a social no-no, as they tend to distract from a woman's jewelry, and alter the taste of finger foods.

Dating (outside the family) 1. Always offer to bait your date's hook, especially on the first date. 2. Be assertive, Let her know you're interested: "I've been wanting to go out with you ever since I read that stuff on the bathroom walls two years ago." 3. Establish with her parents what time she is expected back. Some will say 10:00 PM . Others might say "Monday," If the latter is the answer, it is the man's responsibility to get her to school on time.

Theater Etiquette 1.. Crying babies should be taken to the lobby and picked up immediately after the movie has ended. 2. Refrain from talking to the characters on the screen.. Tests have proven that they can't hear you.

Weddings 1. Livestock, usually is a poor choice for a wedding gift. 2. Kissing the bride for more than 5 seconds might get you shot. 3. For the groom, at least, rent a tux. A leisure suit with a cummerbund and a clean bowling shirt can create a tacky appearance. 4 Though uncomfortable, say 'yes' to socks and shoes for this special occasion.

Driving Etiquette 1. Dim your headlights for approaching vehicles, even if the gun is loaded and the deer is in sight. 2. When approaching a four way stop, the vehicle with the largest tires does not always have the right of way. 3. Never tow another car using panty hose and duct tape. 4. When sending your wife down the road with a gas can, it is impolite to ask her to bring back beer too. 5. Do not lay rubber while traveling in a funeral prosession.

My sincerest thanks and gratitude for that post...lmao!!!

you know yer in a redneck church if:
The baptismal font is a #10 galvanized washtub
The church board rejects the motion for a chandelier 'cause no one in the congregation knows how to play it
The motion to have the organ sold off is pased 'cause it sets the hounds to howlin.

Why do some fast food restaraunts have a statement printed that says: "Picture menus are available upon request"...?

and of course the Braille at drive-up ATM's scares me more everytime I see it.............

Clarky: haha! No problem. Actually, what I've been doing is using the clean channel of the JSX to run Organ and Rhodes keyboards through when I record them direct to the computer. I've found that the JSX clean channel is wide enough frequency wise, and I can push it alittle to and a warm fuzzy quality to the other wise so so rhodes sample. It also sounds much more authentic on the organ module that matt uses when we use the jsx clean for overdrive rather than the organ's modeling distortion circuit. The curious thing is that when we plug matt's organ straight into the computer, it just sounds okay......but when we go through the JSX, the draw bars seem to do more. All of the harmonic over tones are way more pronounced...I wonder if this has to do with tubes?
