Joe, the show was fantastic, you never disappoint. Enjoyed the changes to Always (was that Raspberry Jam thrown in?) and am sure I caught the Enigmatic in an outro somewhere?

Hung around patiently and caught the guys from both bands after the show.

I just wanted to say a BIG BIG thanks to Joe, Jeff, Mick, Johnny A and band PLUS some of the rigging crew for making a fuss of my boy.

Plus, top marks for remaining gracious at all times: faced with a crowd of about 50 people at almost 1am all expecting photos, etc. a lot of artists would have scarpered!

Hope it wasn't too painful to see that old photo of you and I, just thought it might jog your memory.... come back soon and Iets chat again ; )

O.M.E : You asked if Jeff Healey is still around , hes doing very well. I seen him 2 months ago playing at a bar here in Windsor Ontario. Hes not touring much beyond Canada anymore he said , border issue's going into the states, but hes still out there playing.

Zen:Thats an unfair comparison of J Healey,s cover of Angel Eyes & the majestic instrumental Riviera Paradise of SRV.You couldnt have picked a weaker cover song by JH if you tried in my humble opinion .Talking of which, what songs "not instrumentals" did SRV write thats not blues?

SRV gets something other than most, he has an amazing voice! Clapton,knofler,JH for 3 although painfully expressive, seem pale in comparison to the power SRV conducts.If Stevie didn’t sing i think hed be stuck in session work like so many others, he knew if your goin to play blues & you want to make a living from it you have to sing or know someone that can & WELL! Unfortunately i don’t have a good voice *sigh* i can sing in tune, but it lacks character, sounds 2 white weak bland, yuck.Meant t say, after these hugely important mails i,ve been posting these last weeks NOT, lol Well done on the gigs & good luck bro

Glad to hear everybody had a sterling time with Joe. These guys are machines. This tour is grueling just to look at on paper. Hope everyone in the band is holding up well....it sounds like they are.

SLANSHROOM Thanks for inquiring about sifu Young. He is doing as well as can be expected. We had his birthday recently at his favorite Chinese restaurant and he was in good spirits. Hard to keep a man like that down. I cant imagine having the ability he had and losing it in a flash, but such is life. Sorry to hear about your past difficulties S, it seems like things are much better for you now. The church can be particularly harsh on people cant it. The so called authorities in the church, if we are talking Roman Catholic, put forth alot of non-Biblical rules and regulations that nobody can uphold. Even Biblical principles are difficult to account for. I left the church not because of my dislike of God or the Bible, but because of the people. I found more judgement inside the church than outside. Judge not and you shall not be judged. It is difficult to find a true Christian. Do they exist? I know I judge people every day like a bad habit I cant break. Is it right? No. But I cant help it at times.

Anyway, I got a little heavy there, sorry. The video was funny man. My wife and I were on the floor along with my balls. Hey, do you know where we can order a few of those babys? I'm tired of my dog licking my balls on the floor instead of his own! So now we know where Jeff Healey has been and where hes going. Of course I have to say a few words about SRV because I have alot of posters of him on my walls. There is a dvd out there that I know you have seen, the tribute to SRV. I think his brother Jimmy sums it up best when he says that Stevie posts an analogy to radio and electricity in that once he reaches a certain point in playing that he "flows". BB king mentions that when BB plays he plays like hes talking, a sentence at a time. He says SRV is unique in that he doesnt take a break to think of what hes going to play next, he just flows. Clapton agreed. I personally like both styles. True, Stevie had the raspy blues voice and he was stuck in the blues, but he did die young and who knows what he could have progressed into. Thats my second soapbox bassboy opinion. When it boils down to it there are one hell of alot of fantastic guitar players out there. Some on this site that I think should have a few cds under their belts already. Have you watched Letterman or Leno lately? The groups they are booking downright suck! Give me a break! Hope I didnt bore you to death S.

THE BEST AND WORST NIGHT OF MY LIFE

OK, here's the story. I first saw Joe perform at Guitar Legends at Seville with the likes of Brian May. From that moment I was inspired to be able to play as well as Joe! I finally got to see him live on the Extremist tour and he blew my mind. Fast forward to the present day, I still play and I have every one of his albums (even the imports). My wife-to-be surprised me on my 32nd birthday (June 8th) and the anniversery of our engagement with a surprise of 2 tickets to see Joe at Birmingham Symphony Hall and another surprise of the last platinum blub ticket so I could finally meet the man who inspired me to play! (What a woman! I guess that's why I asked her to marry me).

Anyway, the pre-show tour and T-shirt was cool, but it was the show that was amazing. 13 years later and he was better than he ever was! Anyway, thanks to the British rail system being what it is we had to catch the last train home at 11.10pm! (Whoever thought of the last train going so early should be shot).

I was biting my nails at the end of the show as it was going to be very tight if I was going to actually meet him. Alas, the show went on and time slipped by. I actually managed to sit down with everyone ready to meet Joe, but I had to leave before he arrived!!!!!! NOOOOOOOO!

We only just made the train and I was really disappointed. The show was amazing....but I was so near and yet so far.

I don't blame Joe and I don't blame anyone at the event....I blame the rail system. We paid the money but because of the trains we never got to meet Joe!!

Can't wait to see You Joe in Wroclaw at 1.07.2006.... I'm wondering about songlist.... i hope You'll play some old songs too such as Cool No 9 and so on...

I was just wondering why you reverted back to using leads? Is it because of interference or cellphones or something?

The sound quality wasn't nearly as good as it was last night in Bournemouth though. The Pavilion is a fantastic little venue.....the band were having some trouble with the monitors and Joe didn't seem to be having quite as much fun, and the crowd was a little more passive too, but for me the B'mouth show was better!

Johnny A, cool player, decent enoough set but he needs to find himself a tone that will actually hold it's own ground in the mix....in both London and Bournemouth I could hardly hear his guitar, it all but vanished under the bass and drums. Maybe a couple of Fender Twins would help?

Joe started the set with Flying In A Blue Dream which I still reckon is the best tune to start with, it was a stunnig performance. The sound on Joe's set was better than Johnny's so it was nice to be able to hear pretty much everything.

It was cool to hear some of the new stuff being played, but I still think some of the "old favourites" could be shoe-horned off the list in favour of something different......there's only so many times I can hear 'Potato Head.

Cool #9 can definitely stay though, I want to hear that at every JS show I ever attend, 'cause every time I hear a live version of it it gets better.

The jam on G3 '96 was good, the jam on Live In SanFran was better, the jam when I saw him in G3 2 years ago was better still, and this time around the intro to Cool #9 has reached new, unprecedented levels of coolness!

From a tech point of view.....lighting was great, Joe's Peavey was scorching and his old "chromeboy" JS guitar had by far the best tone, followed by the old white JS1.

Jeff's drumming is always a pleasure to watch and this time around didn't disappoint. Dave LaRue is an excellent addition to the line-up too and has really hit the ground running in terms of finding his role in the band...what a cool player!

My overriding comment to Joe for future reference would be: please, stop using the Apollo. I saw you at the Shepherds Bush Empire and the sound/show in general was the best.
