Coffee man - I have come to the conclusion that Madam Foxx is an alter ego of a (reasonably) long time T2Jer. Many of his/her posts are at face value quite insulting, but on many occasions they are the sort of thing that a piss taking close friend might do and are very often witty. Maybe I misunderstand but he/she is IMHO not intentionally personally offensive. The likes of Whimperer and to a lesser extent Anton Shrek were, before they decided it was nicer to share the generally good vibes that this thread provides. Whisky gal wears her heart on her sleeve but she is tough enough not to let Madam Foxx's post upset her. To digress, how's things going with the band?

Good luck and keep rocking

Steve.

Joe: I was curious to know when making your music does your guitar mold around other elements like the melody of the bass, or the rythm of the drums? or do you shape the other instruments to the guitar? Personally this varies when I write music but I wanted to get your perspective. Also how much musical theory is incorporated into your writing? I ask this because most of what I write is just by ear and the feeling of the music. Thanks for taking the time to read, keep playing.

p.s. --Feel free to comment if your not joe, I am always looking to expand my capabilities to play the music I love. Thanks

Hi Everyone

Joe Concert at Newcastle Upon Tyne was Great.... The first time I have seen him live hehe...... I arrived in the afternoon at the venue and met a couple of dudes from a place nearby.... lol the idea of meeting Joe became better than the actual gig, for a while. hehe. hehe I was aprehensive about going on my own at first, but I would recomend it to anyone because you will aways have one great thing in common with any Satriani fan, and conversation will never get dull or boring....... not only because Joe is a great guitarist, but because his music seems to create harmony joy and peace, even without listening to it, if you get my drift..... Johnny A was good on guitar, reminded me of Eric Johnson actually. ( Both are Wes Montgomery Influenced) Had a chat with his drummer afte rthe show... The blue lights which opened the show meant only one thing..... And when Joe started warming up to 'Flying in a Blue Dream' it took me a few seconds to realise that the Joe Show had started. I was on the balcony at the front row of the rear section on the left hand side, and so I couldn't see Joe when he moved to my left of the stage.... Hehe the place did not fill up and there were lots of seats empty upstairs, so I moved to the side near the stage and was actually looking down onto Joe as he was playing...... I got a rather unique view up there and got some great pics of the whole stage, with the other band members.... Jeff Campicelli 's drum kit especially..... Even got a close up pic of Joes foot on a pedal lol.... with my digi cam ...... (never used flash either) Before and after the show was gr8, when we met Joe, but especially afterwards..... I met these young dudes who were keener than I was to see him hehe...... I was just about to go and get a taxi, because I thought he would be ages in coming to meet us all...... (The few fans who faithfully stay around afterwards) when I thought to go back and wait for ten more mins or so.... Then whaddia know, Joe appeared...... We met and he posed for some pics with us........ He is a truly nice and pleasant person to meet......... Oh by the way, If you read this Jonny B..... I remember seeing Jeff C give his drumstick away...that must've been to you and your son hehe.... I was expecting to see Stuart Hamm on Bass but Dave Larue was brilliant... So was Galen.... though I had not heard of them before. My Tributes to Gordon, Arron and the Crew for being such good company and helping me to handle the gig without any paranoia, if you know what I mean lol..... I remained smoke free throughout, thankfully....... And enjoyed the gig for what it was...... Now I want to play more guitar, after seeing Joe..... What an inspiration.... Hopefully next year we'll all be able to meet up again for another show lol...... Joe it was an honour to meet you, and I'd love a lesson or two from you in person hehe...... Who wouldn't lol ...... :))

Joe, I came to see you at the Birmingham Symphony Hall the other night along with one of my Guitar Students and his father. It had been a while since I last saw you live, due to other music commitments. WoW Man! You we're up for it and definately on FIRE! We all enjoyed it immensely, but a real big thanks to you because my young student now has some fantatstic motivation. I think the next time your in town, I'll bring all 45 of them along to see what can be done on the guitar and performed live! Please keep playing for ever and never stop! Kindest regards, Mr A.

ps the backing musicians were also awsome....and lets not forget the crew....great sound and lights guys. Thanks for a truely memorable evening!

Some Satch and Joe Bonamassa. We did that purposely. If they can play these songs good they can play anything we throw at them. So so far....no takers. Thanks for askin'. Joe,

I saw your show in Houston and picked up a copy of Super Colossal there at the show.

What an absolute monster you are. Every tune on the CD is great, I've turned a dozen or more friends onto it just by letting them hear "Made of Tears" which is an all time favorite...right up there with "Why".

If my dreams had a soundtrack, you'd be playing it. I know how hard you've had to work to become the artist you truly are, but your inate talent shines through all of your work.

I am truly a fan for life!

MIKE SB Thanks again for the great JH link. That was me playing bass bro! You didnt know I was black did you? That was an awesome jam and will definitely be put into the library. Didnt notice when that tape was made, but this band is far and above his last. What is JH doing now? No current cds. Not a bad actor either in that movie with Patrick Swayze, Roadhouse. More JH!!!

MTLHD Glad to see you posting again bruddah. As they say, take it a day at a time and try to stay on top of your situation. All things must pass in time. I'm going thru a slight problem myself. A little vertigo. Nice unexpected free rides in your mind. I imagine I must be overdoing it a bit so I gotta chill out. Hope you get better soon dude! Much Aloha

Speaking of Patrick Swayz, he, along with Nicolas Cage are wing chun boys. Saw NC chi sao at one time. Pretty good!

First martial arts pursued when 9 yrs old. Judo, from Judo Gene Labelle. At 10 yrs old no holds barred Labelle throws growler all around the mat like a ragdoll for about 15 minutes just to check out the falling technique. Another free ride...kinda like vertigo. Judo, excellent defense techniques to counter Muay Thai holds.

MR CRO Thanks for the congrats. I'm paying the price now. How you been doing? I think that I've been missing those excellent links you put out there. Hope all is well.

Out for now G.

Just got up after 4 hours sleep, got to go to work now.... still on a high from talking to Joe after the show last night- what a humble guy, I even managed to ask him a sensible question... a very surreal experience...

Thanks to John for the tour too, your time and hospitality was much appreciated making the experience even greater! And thanks to Jeff, Galen and Dave of course :)))))

Just now got to get through the day and sleep later... :))))))

BEST LIVE SHOW I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!

Thanks Joe :)))))))))

... one thing I got signed yesterday was a print-out of when Joe replied to me on here- he looked quite surprised I'd brought that along!

Stevee T:Hes no slouch that’s for sure, lol

Ovation:People may not like Mr Varneys ways in conducting his business, but man did he get that one right or what!

Zen:& why is this playa a tad more interesting than the norm Varney releases?…Note selection! Staying clear of well troden modal ideas so many use, swapping instead for the much more difficult to execute jumbled interval changes many hope will be swept under the rug & forgotten, ha guess what, lol Much more inside playing & bluish bends than Holdsworths outside ideas.Probably a lot easier for most to consume because of that.

Holdsworths concept:Finger neatness 4 notes per string as opposed to 3 with all 4 fingers evenly spaced, each working individually from the last joint of the finger at right angles to the string for better note definition. ie no curving of the 3rd into the 2nd finger when playing 4 note per string whole tone lines!! Combine that with the 15 different scales Holdsworth uses & all its modal permutations…its no surprise you hear EVERY note crystal clear with the improv never the same twice! Its not for everyone but brilliant thinking non the less

GROWLER:Sorry t hear that about your Sifu dude, how is he now? & was that you playing bass with JH or are you pullin mikesb,s wire, lol
