GROWLER:Good to hear Sifu Young is in good spirits, its a sign of great courage indeed to pick yourself up & dust down when you loose all you,ve worked for.On a lighter note....I,d be watchin that dog of yours dude, the wife might get jealous, lmao.Heres a link t some of the players here on the forum. It doesnt cost much for the CD plus the cash goes to a good cause, that being the red cross

Well, Tuesday has come & gone....too quickly. I was hoping to make Bournemouth too, but not this year.

A few gripes...I wasn't too impressed with Hammersmith Apollo. Upstairs the sound wasn't too good, and people were coming & going all the time (checking the football score?)...Also, I had a very tall guy in front of me who kept blocking my vision. Eventually, I went to sit on the stairs & just started to get into it, when it was suddenly over all too soon!!

Just one more lttle gripe....I loved the sustained note, but missed the Raspberry Jam!!! I did manage to ask Joe later, & he explained. of course, they can't play everything...but it sounds as though B'mouth maybe got some jam!! (Should have made the trip....)

OK, gripes over. It was a great night, as always. Made even better for meeting Satriella, Hrh Fish (thanks for arranging the pub meeting!)...and of course Clarky! Plus all you other guys whose names I can't remember, the crazy crowd who go to every Joe concert.....

We had to wait around quite a while to meet Joe on the after show passes, but who cares, when we had a lot of fun, and of course the lovely Jeff chatting to us also.

Joe...if you read this, what can I say that hasn't been said already. Thanks for taking the time & trouble to chat to fans when you must be exhausted after the gig. You never cease to amaze, both musically & as a person. I hope to be able to meet you again someday.

One suggestion...maybe one classic number from each album included in future set-lists? I know you listen to what your fans have to say.

Clarky...well done for Joe listening to your music...for one horrible moment I thought he was going to sign the CD and pass it back to you (he was just putting your name on it!) How amazing is that!!

Hungry for more now. When's the next show?

Bye for now.

ps. Sylvie...if you're on this site, Clarky never got my text on Tues!

Reflecting on Life

After being married 25 years, I took a look at my wife one day and said,

"Honey, 25 years ago we had a cheap apartment, a cheap car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a 10 inch black and white TV, but I got to sleep every night with a hot 25 year old blond.

Now we have a nice house, nice car, big bed, and plasma screen TV, but I'm sleeping with a 50 year old woman. Seems to me you are not holding up your side of things."

My wife is a very reasonable woman.

She told me to go out and find a hot 25 year old blond, and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap apartment, driving a cheap car, sleeping on a sofa bed...

Hey Cuth, you impersonating me again today?? Hope you aint crossing the border today.... They'll be trouble...

Bwahahaha

THIS is another of Jeff Healey's sidelines... He performs there weekly on a jam night. Could be anything from jazz to blues to rock at any given time (guitar OR horns) Jeff also owns one of Canada's premier collections of old jazz records (78 RPM) and had his own radio program spinning the suckers. Every couple of years, Jeff needs treatment to fight off another cancerous attack (same disease that took his eyesight) it is a constant battle. Never once have I ever heard him bitch whine or moan about what he has been dealt, he gets on with it with class and grace, a true inspiration. (Damned fine guitarist too)

Slansh, Sayce is another Canadian boy.....

Well here I am back from a dream come true!

There is so much to tell you guys...wow what a fantastic two days.....Ok my journey started at 8.30am with a drive down to John & Sylv's ...I didn't dare play joe at this point in case I crashed with excitement....oh it was so lovely to meet them....I can never call myself a joe fan next to them...had a great morning looking at their stuff and John's guitars...that he made with his own hands are beautiful....the Joe Room was fantastic and the memorabilia fab!...anyway then Wendy & Alex arrived and off we drove to Hammersmith....booked into the hotel...oh and my room had been upgraded to exec suite....yay...free of charge....even yayer!......then off we popped to the Trout....to find HrHFish, Clarky, Shell and Sylv....lovely to meet them all...even if fish was completely hammered!....A quick bite to eat then off we went....oh what a regret I forgot to take a picture of the venue with Joe's name up....anyone do that....if you have a copy pretty please can I have one....A quick stop to get a guitar pick necklace and a tee-shirt...damn it I don't need another t-shirt...but how could I resist...anyway Johnny A came on dead on 7.30...he was great but boy could you feel the bass...reminded me of Nottingh Hill Carnival....I have to say he got quite a poor reception but I enjoyed it...and to play led zep was quite cool too....don't know what the title of it is but it used to be the TOTP theme....anyway quick run-out when he had finished to buy his album, get it signed and give him the picture I drew of him....back in for Joe...wow I could not have had a better seat if I had tried....end of the row on the right next to the aisle and Joe played right there most of the time...it was so fantastic...felt guilty every time I leaped out of my seat...but I only did that at the end of songs...well until the end...boy I was dancing in my seat and whistling and cheering...my poor throat didn't know what hit it...being as I never raise my voice normally...Joe was fantastic....they all were....it was the absolute best night of my life ever...he just has such control of the guitar like I have never seen such mastery really fantastic and Joe was enjoying every minute which was great...review on the road section...crowd chant was awesome everyone joined in for that...oh I really cannot put into words how great it was...oh of course the chickens made an appearance...then...then when everyone was filing out a small group was left to wait to talk to Joe...this power crazy usher woman tried to get us out on a number of occasions...then...oh I don't know his name...well he came in at last and said "they are not going anywhere they are with me!"....hehe....yes....go away little girl and hide in a corner with your shame....mwahahaha...so we sat and chatted for what seemed like five minutes but it was actually an hour during which time jeff Campitelli came in and was so relaxed chatting with us and after a bit I whipped off his hat and told him I needed a picture to draw of him, I had a lovely cuddle and he signed a pic of Joe for me...oh hope your ankle gets better....he injured himself playing with his kid....so well done for playing the drums for us!...didn't stop him mucking around loads tho grrr then Dave came in for a chat...boy he didn't sound like I expected..very camp sounding...and he stropped coz I was being silly with him and would not sign the pic of Joe...coz it was Joe and not him..still I have some nice pics of him to draw...eventually....once Jeff stopped mucking around!...anyway then in came Joe...

he was so sweet...I gave him my picture of hendrix and said Jimi is your guitar hero and your mine!"I told him I had drawn it especially for him and I asked him if he viewed Jimi differently now than when he first played but he said he was still amazed with his playing especially considering how little technology they had....anyway just like the queen...Mick looked after his pressies...oh john piped up "this is Satriella"....with a big grin he said "Oh your Satriella!".....er I can't remember what else I said to him....oh yeah...wendy said "tell him it's your fist gig"...so I turned to Joe with a big grin and said "This is my first gig Joe and it won't be my last!"...hehe....boy he has fantastic eyes and patience...anyway he signed my Joe picture and said it was very good....Oh I honestly can't remember what else I said I was in such a daze....but I did say that he had to have a cuddle coz I always sign off with hugs...and that hugs were my thing so he had to have one...he willingly obliged...awwww thanks JOE!

One thing for sure, the whole crew including Mick are a right buch of jokers....good job too!

Anyway back too the hotel and gues what I was dreaming of!

Next day I walked miles and miles around London...the highlight of which was going to the Hard Rock store and too my surpirse there on the wall...A Joe guitar and a Steve Vai guitar...wow!

here are some of my pictures.....

marimariSRV: Go for it! :-) Like slansh said.... We all need to vent sometimes, and thats what we are here for :-)

bahduh: lol bro, I'm going for Italy and the US on those matchups, lol, may the best teams win!.... And the Japan game is on at 4am, lol, I'll watch the highlights tomm ;-)

slanshroom: You know, it's weird watching them Lane clips.... You can hear the drummer trying to figure out what to play, lol, he's just playing whatever, and the bass playa just walked off the stage, haha, nowhere in sight.... As amazing as Shawn was, he did overdo it every time, lol, but when he was in a melodic groove, no one could touch him!....

Clarkysan: Read your chat with Joe and whoa.... I dont think it will be easy to come down from that, lol, way to go bro, you deserve it!!.... Your hard work and talent is paying off, stay kuul man....

Satriella: Wow, congrats girl!!.... So stoked to hear you met up with the crowd over there, lol, I just wish I could have been standing there next to Paul with my dark lager to boot, lol!! :-) Looks like it was great fun for all, and your signed drawing is fantastic!!.... Keep up the great work, I'm sure Joe wont forget!!....

Ovation1:He did overdo it, that was his bad point.Like i said rebel without a pause, lol

Zen:Ok He wrote music based on the blues...yes? reworking forms based on the blues isnt composition either or is it? I have a prob with "Blues Composer" maybe your onto something there, ponder ponder

15 mins later

Yer dead right Fred, he was a blues composer, after a moment thinking about all the other music Classical etc its nothing more than reworked as well, i,d not thought about it like that, aye, cool
