THAT GOES FOR JOE AND THE CREW TOO!!! HAVE A FAB DAY!

Isn't it great that Joe and the crew get to do their favourite thing as a job!

I start a new job in an hour.....gulp!

I am gonna miss my old work mates....still life moves on!

Ain't that the truth...life moves on

Hugs Satriella xx

Cool, my first post, on this wonderful, wonderful message board. =) Before anything, I have to say, very bluntly, that Joe's mix of super-talent and super-kindness is really something anyone to admire. Y'know? Anywho, I really want to give praise to everyone on this board. After reading through a bunch of messages, I found that this isn't really an "OMG I <3 JOE" board that I thought it would be. It's more like a not-so-dramatic "OMG I <3 JOE" with people that are pretty much uh.. how do you say.. "chillin(?)". It's like a big, cool community.

I'm really respecting the people here. I guess I'm now the fan of the fans of Satch, while still being a young fan of Satch.

WATERPROOF SOAP Slept pretty much all day man. Hey, what you string your bass with? Just picked up some nickel SIT's (heavy gauge) and man they are smoooth as silk bro. My fingers are in heaven! Just in time for tomorrow. Hope all is well with you.

SATRIELLA Good luck on the new job girl. Speaking of "Foxey Lady", I just got the new Band of Gypsys cd/dvd. Wish I could link everybody up to the dvd of FL. Billy Cox, Buddy Miles, and Eric Gales combine on this cut. Gales is unreal! Just shreds the hell of the solos. Had to change up our version of the song and Machine Gun which was awesome as well, but not on dvd.

Also picked up Buddy Guy Live, The Real Deal with the Saturday Night Live Band. Buddy still has it. This dvd makes you smile. Buddy is what about 72 yrs old now? You can pit this dude up against ANY guitarist and he will hang bruddah. Check it out. Does some good lead duals with G.E. Smith.

Well, I'm well rested and ready for the gig tomorrow. Its time to GET IT ON! EVERYBODY IN THE USA HAVE A GREAT 4TH OF JULY!!! EVERYBODY ELSEWHERE HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

Remember to whip out your copy of the Star Spangled Banner and play it LOUD for all to hear. Aloha G....................................................

GROWLER

Up till a few months ago, I had regularly used ROTOSOUND swing bass strings.......one day I went to pick up a couple of sets and they were out....so I tried D'addario XL's....i think they sound brighter but the "lifespan" of the strings seeems to be considerably shorter....I've never tried SIT's on bass....I've used them on guitars and they sound pretty good...perhaps next go around I'll give them a shot!!

ps. While I was picking up the strings I noticed a KEN SMITH bass that was used (Mint Condition).....I'll be in mourning until I can get one now....up to that point the best basses i had played were an Alembic (stanley clarke's weapon of choice) and a Pedulla Rapture......the Ken Smith was clearly the superior instrument IMHO......funny you mentioned it...I slept most of the last two days.......I guess "time travel" IS possible!!!LOL

btw.....what type of bass(es) do you play.....i use an Ibanez BTB....pretty versatile for the money.....shaka brah!!!!

R3TR

Hi folk, This is R3TR reporting 11 hours after Joe’s performance in Strasbourg, France.

Audience, venue and organisation: Hall was about 2/3 full with seems about 80% of youngsters and 20% mix of other ages. There was an announcement made that no photo allowed. This made me wondering where photos on this site are coming from?! Mystery. Anyway, I am too stupid to understand why. Under those light and other conditions photos made on mobile phone or pocket size digital camera set to be of the poor quality and thus with no commercial value. They can only serve as private souvenir. Real photos would require use of large SLR with good optic i.e. easy to spot for security and best just not allow getting in with such camera. This is how it was last year on the concert of Sting or this year on Chris Rea.

Opening: Adrian Legg – for me it was a real discovery. I regret so much that I have not heard him before. Amazing. Not only his work with pedals, his sound was so rich, dense, touchable and melodies were really beautiful. And he is also very nice man, made impression of very intelligent, polite and kind person. It was a real pleasure for me to have conversation with him. Unfortunately there was not enough time to ask him more about music, his technique and human’s inner environment that makes such tunes possible.

Sound: Joe himself sounded perfect. However, in general, in my humble opinion, sound was a bit unbalanced i.e. too much of drums volume made bass and rhythm guitar difficult to hear so they almost kind of fell out from the whole sound pattern. Few bars Joe played on keyboards also did not articulate enough. I do not know, may be it’s specific for this particular venue in Strasbourg. And was it for a few seconds a little problem with bass gears? Anyway, it’s just my opinion.

Set: Clear lack of new things. I would love to hear more of what I have not heard Joe playing that often e.g. from Joe’s last record, from earlier records like “Is there love in space” and from earlier “Strange beautiful music”. Do not know why he does not do that.

Others: it’s a pity that there were no picks, straps and CDs (even not signed) on sales.

Anyway, I had great time after long and busy day. “Party on the Enterprise” was just cool!!!

Cheers.

I take it you're not playing an Ireland date! I'm not too happy about this as I'm sure nobody else is. We have all paid good money over here for the new album but we don't seem to be good enough to perform to!

marimariSRV, thanx. I will definately be performing again next year at this event. It was a lot of fun. I will probably be down in Middlesex Saturday night, playing some more Joe stuff. I have enough practiced for a small set, and I'm making it a weekly habit to get out and play. Check my site out for where I'll be performing and I'll have an mp3 of the Satch Boogie up by next weekend.

When the Redshift Riders came and took that One Robots Dream on a Starry Night at Midnight, the Searching War for What Breaks a Heart begins. the Robot asked "Why do the Echo Memories of Brother John come to me when im All Alone then these riders come and take my dream?" The riders know its the Lords of Karma from that one Crushing Day that is really taking the dream. But what the robot doesnt know is its A Love Eternal he wants and its what he has been Cryin' about.
