Hi Joe and everyone, this is my first post.

Just looking for a little advice on writing chord progressions. I am currently writing an album and have a few good songs on it and they all have simple major minor chords in them but they work and sound good.

However I am wanting to try and make some of the other songs more interesting and allow the listener to feel more for the song.

For instance I have a song called Friends with the lyrics written but can't find a way to write the feel good chords that should go with it, take your song with the same title as an example, that makes you feel great.

Or say for example your song I wish I could fly ahs amazing feel good chords and they are strange and more out the box than what i've been doing.

A lot of the time I find myself just copying other peoples chords, like yours but I hate doing that, it doesn't seem original.

Have you ever copied the chords from your favorite artists/

any advice from everyone would be helpful and thoughts on taking progressions from other songs, good or bad.

thanks

Chee and Zen - I feel very strongly in the fact that we do not have the right NOT to be offended. That is the start of all the PC crap we have to deal with. However, one fact that Zen might have overlooked in his comment is that without the help of a certain group of people from Gaul, we would have never become a nation of our own.

i don't mean to add fuel to any fires..........

everyone has an entitlement to a way of thinking , philosophy, religion or belief...............

WE have had many moments of fine thoughts and exchanges of different perspectives

I'm just glad to have the friendship and communication of others in this SPACE

It grieves me to see differences become divisions......

alas......its an inevitability..........not a pleasant one at times...

Its been said that discretion is the better part of valor.....
On many occassions I have come up lacking in this characteristic.............................

Its just not pleasant to have a neighbor take a dump on your 'lawn' on your birthday!!!!

the telephone

how many peeps in here don't use those......

Khmer Rouge...French Indochina..treatment of the indigineous????..Not one nations history has got it perfect!!!

as long as we're throwing stones i'll join in....... we all bleed when struck....

how's about looking at today.....
Or shall I desecrate Bastille Day with my personal excrement?

BTW..........I served 6 years with honor as my contibution for the nation i was born in......my grandparents hail from Austria/Hungary and Wales..........they never met an indian in their lives..........btw....its Native American.......enuff from me....

little....lol.....

Happy Birthday America...I hold you dear, those that have fought for the freedoms we enjoy today...I hope we're all worthy of your sacrifices...be they big or small....

Sure we can look back and hopefully learn...but we can't change what WAS...that's why they call it history....what we can change, is what IS...the present, in each of our own little corner's of the world...what good does repenting the actions of others do for us? Better to study and learn and not repeat the same mistakes....guaranteed we'll make new ones....

But why carry around on our own shoulders those things our distant ancestors did? Let's be grown ups and take responsibility for ourselves and our own lives....THAT is honoring what IS.

Oh, and a person's relationship with God is private and is whatever they want to make of it...I'm thinking God wants us to repent the things WE'VE done ourselves and try to do better...not something someone did over 200 years ago.

Insulting, Zen? Hell yeah. But hey....yer entitled to yer own opinion. Toodles!

Michelle......you've got mail.....could ya forward it to T??

Happy Berfdee America......I'm proud to be here....proud that I served......and as for a relationship with God.....

"We should not be praying that God is on our side, rather, we should be praying that we are on His side"-- Abraham Lincoln

"No one can make you feel worthless without your permission"-- Eleanor Roosevelt

Zen.....it is a time of reflection for those of us who live here
A little sensitivity to that would demonstrate the character of Christ!

I Guess I lied.....I thought I was finished....obviously not.

Hi Joe! I love your music and I have started buying it through iTunes now. I like being able to burn it to CD, especially since my car is always a mess and my CDs get scratched. I've got 4 or 5 CDs of yours that I bought in a store that are scratched beyond playability, so I am sticking with iTunes. Oh, I am wondering when/if you are going to make more of your music videos available on iTunes. If not, then I'll go for a DVD! After all, that's partly why I got my iBook - for watching DVDs (and for homework and whatnot). Anyhow, I'm a big fan and I hope I get to see you in concert again someday soon. The time I saw you was in Vegas shortly after you came out with Engines of Creation. Great concert! I'll bring earplugs next time so when my friends ask me after the concert, what do I wanna eat... I won't go "what? what? Say that again? Drop your pants, you're mumbling!" Ok, so those aren't my exact words but they were something along that line. :) Thanks for the great music!

I've studied scriptures enough to state this with the firmest confidence......

Yeshua Hamaschiach......(hebrew for) Jesus Christ had little regard for "Earthly Kingdoms"

The Greek translations....Hebrew Codices.....they are in agreement........

Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and give to God what is God's..............

The Greek scriptural accounts of the New Testament speak of the 'mysteries' 28 times.......

......No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has concieved what God has prepared for those that love him.

For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?

"I am just a layman......let it never be my position to judge another's relationship with God"--JT

' i hate to dissapoint you, but this is how I fail....and let me introduce to you myself....say hello to the bad guy'--POD

I'd make a lousey preacher.....think I'll just stick to playing the bass...........

Waterproof Soap.........JT.............Sudsy............John

Some call me by those different names....it doesn't change who I am........God has a name for me.....one day I'll hear Him call me and I'll know who He is talking to....My prayer is that He hears me now........and I've repented ( taken from Greek, it means to "re-think") and accepted the Gift his Son has offered........Grace(unmerited favor). We are no longer servants to Law.....if we choose to be Slaves to the Cross.

Respectful to the Faith of others............

By actions.............Love is an ACT....not a feeling.....

We can do no great things....only little things with great Love---Mother Teresa

Peace.................................................John

ps. one way or the other I'm sure I've opened myself up for commentary at the very least....but my cards are all on the table now!!!

The bible has the best advise on how to do that for sure!
