Hey there Sandy...

I appreciate the kind words of wisdom...

I feel as a musician that I'm always slowly growing and maturing and realizing what sounds good, and what doesn't, so for me it's always a preference change... what sounds good to me now, most likely won't sound very good to me 6 months from now especially and most definetly my own material that I've worked on and structured in the past... Me being in a band for the last few years has majorly inspired me sound and overall tone wise, which reflects my playing ability as well... a colaboration especially with the songwriters in my band dictates how I approach a song... and I love that about writing with other people... when I do this sort of thing by myself, I'm nowhere near inspired enough to do as good a job... it's just my opinion but then again, I'm sure it's ok to be your own worst critic... it keeps me sane and down to earth... I'm humble just as much as the other guy... but I do thank everyone who does like my song on the 1st Talk2Joe CD...

anyways it was another long day...

we'll talk soon...

Peace

Bear

cuthbert1776 - Yeah, I guess the sound is pretty bad on that YouTube video. I hardly notice things like that anymore, though. I have bootleg hearing, I guess... ;-)

"global warming"

This is a few years old, but I don't think I've ever asked you about it... Are you a fan of Michael Crichton's books? His newest book, State Of Fear (2004), is about ecoterrorists who plan to orchestrate "natural" disasters across the globe. One of them was a huge tsunami, actually...and the book was released just a few months before the tsunami in Southeast Asia.

The book's plot is very sci-fi, but the numbers/charts/graphs/studies used to back things up in State Of Fear are real. There are a lot of graphs of temperature change over years and years from different places throughout the world. For each city experiencing global warming, it seems that there's another that experiences global cooling during the same time periods. So according to this research, it's basically one big cycle and the "global warming" that is portrayed in politics and the media doesn't exist.

In the book's appendix Crichton goes into detail about how he researched and wrote the book, and how what he found out changed his point of view on global warming and a lot of other things. It's definitely worth reading, if you haven't already come across it...

"Bx3"

Thanks for that link. I think they actually toured the eastern U.S. earlier this year. I think MegaBoyd said that last time he talked to Billy Sheehan, western U.S. dates were being booked for the fall/winter.

I completely forgot about this, so thanks for the reminder. I met Billy after a Who tribute gig he did with Mike Portnoy, Paul Gilbert, and Gary Cherone; I should have asked him about this tour back then. Oh well.

marimariSRV - Cool...it'd be fun to meet up with you again in January. Let me know what dates you'll be out here so I can make sure to have time off work.
waterproof soap - "I finally shut him down by telling him I've been playing the bass longer than he's been alive"

LOL...that's great!

GROWLER - "San Bernadino is like a smog pit in southern cal. I used to live near there so I dont want to offend anybody out there."

Hehehe...all of us out here in Southern California know how bad the smog is. Don't worry about offending us...

bahduh - I'm still here. ;-)

Joe,

My wife and I are in the Air Force stationed in Italy, and caught your show in Milano. I've been a big fan and really influenced by your style (as every modern guitar player is), and I just wanted to thank you for such a mind-blowing gig. My wife wished you would have played "Searching" because well, she loves that song! (She made me write that in here!!!) At any rate, thank you for an absolute tonal exerience. Your tone is amazing!!!!! You've inspired me more so than ever before. Watching you on DVD is impressive, but sorry... It doesn't hold a stick to a live performance. Best of luck to you and the band as you finish your European leg. My wife and I will be in Italy for another 4 years, so please come back. Preferrably in Udine since we live 30 minutes away from there! (hint hint) :-) ----- Derek

Sunday Morning Sex

I will never hear church bells ringing again without smiling...

Upon hearing that her elderly grandfather had just passed away, Katie went straight to her grandparents' house to visit her 95-year-old grandmother and comfort her. When she asked how her grandfather had died, her grandmother replied,

"He had a heart attack while we were making love on Sunday morning."

Horrified, Katie told her grandmother that two people nearly 100 years old having sex would surely be asking for trouble.

"Oh no, my dear," replied Granny. "Many years ago, realizing our advanced age, we figured out the best time to do it was when the church bells would start to ring. It was just the right rhythm. Nice and slow and even. Nothing too strenuous, simply in on the "Ding" and out on the "Dong."

She paused to wipe away a tear, and continued, "He'd still be alive if the ice cream truck hadn't come along!"

:D
