Keniko...yeah....spend some quality time with her....I was very impressed.
I was all set to go with the TSL, until my Sam Ash tech insisted I try the JSX, cause he knew that I'm a Satch nut....lol....glad he did...we compared both (using my Chromeboy to ensure realistic conditions), and sure nuff...the JSX was sooooo much more than I expected....happy hunting!
Just wish there was a direct out with a mute speaker switch....oh well...The Palmer Speaker Emulator will be here in a few daze.....problem solved!

as for the comrpessor and talkbox, nah its a crazy fedback machine, wana keep the compressor away from it, it wud be mad, need to have quick feet when ur using the talkbox it has 2 live mics goin into an overdriven guitar rig, and when theres no sound going into them, Its nasty

keniko: I don't know man. hah! I've tried some of the mesa gear (dual rec) at moderate volume and thought it was very sterile, but the clips I've heard of Timmons playing the Lonestar sound very nice. While tone is in the fingers, I've heard older clips of timmons from the 80's, and his tone is a million times smoother through the LoneStar. I would say that compared to other amps, the differences are these: JSX sounds super smooth and liquid at zero volume (cranked it gets more balls, but stays the same), it can go from smooth and liquid to really agressive...alot of high gain amps don't seem to do that, it has the mids in the right place (very articulate with out being piercing). The really nice thing about the amp is that it sounds great in multiple applications. It sits correctly in a live mix, it sounds great in studio, or by itself. Many amps sound super smooth by themselves, but are mush in a live setting...or, many amps cut in a live setting but sound harsh alone. The JSX seems to do things very well in all settings. Believe me, I really wanted to like other amps, but it's the first high gain amp that really gets what I want it to. Just remember, if you go to try it out, DO NOT set it like a Marshall. start with the presence and resonance at zero and start adjusting the eq. If the distortion is too piercing, flick on the fat switch. If the cab is too tight sounding, then add some resonance if boosting the bass knob doesn't do it. If the cab sounds too muddy, add presence. Only add little bits of trebble at a time...it is more of a buzz or fizz knob, the presence and mid knobs seem to adjust more of the trebble clarity. I actually run my amp with the trebble at zero...not muddy at all, just totally liquid. That's the thing, this amp is not overly bright, it just works really different than most other amp eq's. The great thing is that it can get many tones with out having a million interaction knobs like a Mesa. It's kind of like a plug an play mesa hah! Hope this helps.

SteveeT: yeah, the THD is just a load box (you hae to buy a redbox or some other DI to go with it). The palmer is good if you want the speaker sim (DI) plus the load done together in one unit. Let me know how it sounds. It's supposed to allow you to adjust certain settings to vary the speaker simed sound.

Zenfish: Couldn't agree more about Malmsteen, but you gotta listen to some Paul Gilbert Classical.... That is the way it should be played IMO, and he includes a Classical track on each of his albums.... Please check out the clip of The Jig (5th mp3 clip down from his album King Of Clubs).... Btw, Beyond Your Night is very nice bro, and for your beautiful wife.... Very nice, and very Page....
