Zenfish: This is the reason I really love Paul, cause of his dedication to translating Classical from piano to guitar (which you need two git's to do properly as you know, lol).... But it is the melody of Satch that takes me away.... I love to teach of course, I'm Italian, lol, but shred is only part of the equation as you know..It is that, combined with melody (more than anything else); that truly brings out the inner soul and spirit of guitar, mind and body.... I love your thesis about Satriani + Malmsteen.... There are no guitarist' out there that combine both IMO, but Guthrie comes close these days.... Malmsteen is the Mozart of modern times on guitar, and I have the utmost respect and a soft spot in my heart for him that will be forever.... Btw bro, on Handel..Lately, I'm listening to his Christmas music! :-) I feel your smallness my friend, lol, what a great composer and melodic genius I know, Amen!!....

Micky D...... Thanks for the comments on the gig. We share your thoughts......lol...... Paul Gilbert doing Karn Evil.....that was great. Before I started The Blues Mavericks I was in a band and the keyboardists was an ELP freak. Supposibly he knew Keith personally....?......Anyway the only way to get in the band was to play to guitar solo in Karn Evil #9. They figuired if you could play that solo you could play any of their songs. Well not only did I play the solo I played parts no other guitar player ever played. They asked me were did you come up those parts....they're awesome. I said it's on the record. They were refering to the stacco part before Kieths solo.....before the guitar solo. So they're like where? I said Here? Holy Sheeeet we never had a guy do that before. Well, you said you wanted me to play the song .....so I did......lol.....Anyway funny story to a great song. I use that solo sometimes as a warm up. It's really cool.

I got a chance to meet Kieth and his tech Will Anderson at a music expo in Chicago. This was right after he recovered from the Carpul tunnel thing. He past out kazoo like horns to everyone and said he wanted to test our knowlegde of ELP songs. He played Lucky Man with the intention of us humming the legendary solo with the Kazoo. When Keith got to the part there was about 50 peolpe in the audience humming the solo.....it was great and Keith said we did a good job.....lol....I got a signed poster endorsing Korg. His son Aaron was on the poster as well. It was a great experience.

I actually copied your response and printed it in from Word as a blueprint when I check the JSX Combo out.....with your permission I hope....lol..... Sounds like a great amp. Thanks for sharing those stories, lol; I know the staccato part you are talking about, and damn, what a brilliant bunch of musicians to learn from!!.... Keniko: HAHA! With my permission? haah! That's funny! Sure man. I just didn't want you to try it out and go..."this thing sounds like shite!" There are a couple responses like that on review sites like harmony central, and it's obvious that they were trying to set the eq controls all maxed out like they might on an old marshall with passive eq on the drive channels. I think the biggest props I can give to the amp is that I didn't like the amp based on hearing early versions of it that Joe played through live, but I grudgingly gave it a shot because it claimed to have the features I needed....I ended up loving it. So, at least you know I'm not comming from a fan boy perspective of "I need to buy a JS and a JSX and a 535Q wah and some oakleys, and some leather pants etc etc" hah! All of those products are great, but that's not why I would buy a signature product.
