Sorry if this is a repeat - still funny

Two hunters are out in the woods in New Jersey when one of them collapses.

He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed.

The other guy whips out his 'phone and calls the emergency services.

He gasps, 'My friend is dead! What can I do?'

The operator says, 'Calm down, I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead.'

There is a silence, then a shot is heard.

Back on the phone, the guy says, 'OK, now what?'

O.J. Simpson book, TV special canceled

NEW YORK - After a firestorm of criticism, News. Corp. said Monday that it has canceled the O.J. Simpson book and TV special "If I Did It."

"I and senior management agree with the American public that this was an ill-considered project," said Rupert Murdoch, News Corp. chairman. "We are sorry for any pain that this has caused the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson."

A dozen Fox affiliates had already said they would not air the two-part sweeps month special, planned for next week before the Nov. 30 publication of the book by ReganBooks. The publishing house is a HarperCollins imprint owned — like the Fox network — by News Corp.

Michael Richards (Kramer on Seinfield) racial tirade draws castigation

LOS ANGELES - A barrage of racial epithets unleashed by former "Seinfeld" star Michael Richards during a stand-up comedy routine drew condemnation from Richards' industry colleagues.

Comedian Paul Rodriguez, who was at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood on Friday when Richards responded to two black hecklers with the "n" word and profanities, said he was shocked by Richards' remarks.

"Once the word comes out of your mouth and you don't happen to be African-American, then you have a whole lot of explaining," Rodriguez told CNN. "Freedom of speech has its limitations and I think Michael Richards found those limitations."

Jerry Seinfeld issued a statement saying he was "sick over this."

"I'm sure Michael is also sick over this horrible, horrible mistake. It is so extremely offensive. I feel terrible for all the people who have been hurt," Seinfeld said of Richards, 57, who played eccentric Kramer on the hit 1989-98 sitcom and whose major credit since was the failed 2000 comedy series, "The Michael Richards Show."

Calls to Richards' representatives were not returned Monday.

His Laugh Factory tirade began after the two clubgoers shouted at him that he wasn't funny. A videotape of the incident was posted on TMZ.com.

Richards retorted: "Shut up! Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a f------ fork up your a--."

He then paced across the stage taunting the men for interrupting his show, peppering his speech with racial slurs and profanities.

"You can talk, you can talk, you're brave now mother------. Throw his a-- out. He's a n-----!" Richards shouts before repeating the racial epithet over and over again.

Moderating his tone at one point, Richards tells the audience: "It shocks you. It shocks you" and refers to "what lays buried."

While there is some chuckling in the audience throughout the outburst, someone can be heard gasping "Oh my God" and people respond with "ooh" after Richards uses the n-word.

Eventually someone calls out: "It's not funny. That's why you're a reject, never had no shows, never had no movies. `Seinfeld,' that's it."

On Monday, about a half-dozen community activists gathered at the club to denounce Richards' remarks and demand an apology.

civgeek....... Thanks for your insight. I to like the programablity of sounds with effects with an amp. I should rephraze what I ment from my last post. I don't have rack effects but use the reverb, chorusing and delays in my Pod Pro along with TS 808 for an extra boost. Again thats why I like the Pod stuff. What's scaring me is .....I think there was a power spike or something cuz' when I fired up my "live" Pod rig my sounds were gone ! ! ! ! I had sounds and my amp worked but not with the patches I had programmed????? This is why I might be rethinking my live set up. My Pod Pro is discontinued and was thinkin' of upgrading to the Pod XT before this happened. The XT has the modeled effects from their floor series built in the Pod. Those effects are amazing sounding, plus the Tone Library has thousands of sounds you can download in a pinch from any artist you can name. I always perfer to program my own sounds for my needs but all the patches in this library are usable or they're great starting points for a particular sound you want. I get compliments all the time on how my amp sounds and everyones always surprised it's a Pod. But I'm worried this will happen again so what do you do??????

Can you tell me in detail how you make the high pitched harmonic? tone when you hold down the whammy bar with your left hand ?

I have searched the internet far and wide and purchased a few Play Like Satriani DVD's looking for instructions on how to make this cool tone.

The closest I can come is scraping the wound strings with my fingernails or an artificial harmonic near the bridge while ffretting the 24th fret. Am I on the right track?

Thanks, man - Rock On!

the way you do it works, but the way JOE does it is different... you have to "pinch" the note, that is, pluck the string with the pick and at the same time use the fleshy part of your RH thumb to barely touch the string... start hitting the note with your thumb at the 24th fret and then work your way up to the bridge, you'll get a whole bunch of different harmonics per string... after you get that down, just wank that bar back and forth...

an extra tip, humbuckers do the trick... some work better than others, JOE's pickups might be the best in the market regarding this thing... i haven't updated mine, but my stock bridge pickup seems to do this better than the neck one... hope this helps...

now i have a question to all of you guys:

i'm farely new when it comes to floating bridges... i substituted those long screws at the back of the bridge for even longer ones to see if this would help me to angle the bridge in a way i could make it bend a note up to a perfect fifth... it worked, but for some reason, the first two strings don't react the same way and i can't get them to go farther than a minor third... i thought maybe i didn't set them at the same height, but i did and now i'm confused cuz i don't know what to do...
i can't go back to the way it was cuz i replaced those screws at first because the old ones ripped some wood off and i couldn't get them to hold the bridge anymore, so i had to use longer ones to drill into the wood a little deeper... now, am i "screwed"? can i do something to fix this?
