Hey Joe,
I am looking for some advice on obtaining quality guitar lessons. I have played off and on for about 18 years, and have taken lessons before.
I can pretty much play what I hear, except for extreemly complicated stuff, or very fast stuff, however, I am looking for a more complete understanding of the fretboard and how the structure of the instrument plays out. I have watched videos of some amazing guitar players explain things, and I totally get lost, as I am stunned and amazed at what they present.
I am a marriage and family therapist, and currently in my 2nd year of doctoral studies, so I think I have the intellecutal capacity to understand what I need to, however, as I study the materials I have, I just cant seem to put everything together.
I am not out to become a professional guitarist, however, I am seeking to improve my ability to create what I hear in my head on my guitar in a deliberate and creative manner.
I love to listen to blues and classic rock. What also pushes me forward to become more serious about my understanding and abilities is that my wife just hooked me up with a new Fender Showmaster QMT HH, which is an amazing instrument.
So, what I would like to know is how I can connect with the kind of guitar teacher that I can have confidence in, that is able to assess my current playing ability and theory understanding, and assist me in moving forward in the direction that will enable me to become the best guitarist I can become by pulling together the theory, technique, and creative intuition in my playing style (yeah, total run on sentence, lol).
Thanks,
Tony A.

Thank you very very much!
I am a fan of Brian May, too. I listened to a guitar play of Joe of Seville 92 and I became his big fan. A great show, great audience! ! and ,also great guitar legends!!
but, I was the first time that I watched a video of Big Bad Moon. I am impressed very much now. Brian,Cozy, Nathen East and Joe! !
Dream collaboration for me! !
After Seville 92, Brian recorded 'Nothig But Blue' with Ibanez that Joe gave. It is amazing !
Do you Know 98.01.19 G3 Wembly Arena play with Brian May? I want to listen this show.
And I hope for the day when collaboration of Brian and Joe is realized again .
How do you think about it,Joe?
Have a Good Christmas!

Hi everybody, and Hey Joe (not very original indeed)
I've been here from sometime, but actually it's my first post.
And it won't be very original either, because it's the tipical "Joe praise" post.
In fact it's been Satriella's post about Seville Guitar Legends that makes me write.
I'm spanish. I didn't know a word about someone called "Joe Satriani", but guitar, electric guitar and guitars players lure me.
That night watching TV, I was zapping, and then of a sudden in TVE (Public spanish TV chanel) there was a show on called "Leyendas de la Guitarra". There, volume high, and laid down my remote commander.
Long time afterwards, I remember it as a tremendous show, gorgeous, with Brian May, Joe Walsh (Eagles), Steve (didn't know Vai either), Nuno, Paul Rodges...
But then, at that very time, what it really impressed me is a man with dark hair (sorry Joe !) holding an Ibanez guitar. Black leather riveted jacket, black boots and stripped blue jeans.
Well, that didn't impressed me until a minute after Brian May introduced a man called "Joe Satriani", Satch stated playing "Satch Boogie". I think I couldn't close my open mouth until long after he was then playing "Surfing with the Alien". Then, he relaxed, and started playing a soft delicatessen. I swear I had shivers down my spine, and tears on my eyes, there, petrified in my sofa. It became my Satch prefered song ever since. Its name: Always with me, always with you.
I wish I could get that video, if someone had a good quality copy.
From that TV show I became a Joe fan. I bought "Surfing with the Alien""Flying in a blue dream" ...until today.
I also saw you performing live in Barcelona.
Thanks for all those moments of happiness when hearing your music. And please don't stop writting music !
Thaks for including "Always.." in the last Satriani Live!
Wooow a 9m43'' version ! That rocks !

Satriella: Thanks for bringing back those great Seville memories!.... I remember when that came on tv and was floored.... Especially when the Doc kicked in with Liberty and Brian and Joe sealed that baby off!!.... My jaw was on the floor and my emotion was on the ceiling!!....
Zenfish: lol bro, quite the contrary I believe.... Cube fits the genre very nicely, and as you may know, he played over that kind of stuff (rap to reggae) for some time with a band, and it brings out his experimental funky lines!.... Soloing over that stuff gives you all kinds of kuul possibilities, and the rhythms really help your playing....
Tamachan: Great point on Joe to play with Brian again!!.... That would be amazing to see them make a song together....
Jason: Way to go bro, that sounds like a great way to spend Christmas! :-) Have a great holiday with your family while your extended family holds the fort down :-)
ibanezguitars: Welcome to the Satch Realm and thanks for sharing your Satch story! :-) Great name btw! ;-)
js1200js1000: haha, lol man, that monkey was like a human, lmao!!.... Glad it brought a smile to your face, and Happy Holidays to you too, eh!!.... I think I need some Moosehead now, lol!.... :-)

JOE....EVERYONE LOVES SEVILLE 92 DO YOU THINK SOMETHING LIKE THAT WILL EVER HAPPEN AGAIN?
tamachan - Well thanks for the infor about Brian getting an Ibanez from Joe and recording with it ...I didn't know that....glad there is another fan of Seville 92 here....Everyone is a fan of Queen and Brian May...if you ever go to London then book yourself into see We Will Rock You...its amazing and you will know all the songs (if you are a queen fan or not!)...I have to say I don't know anything about 98.01.19 G3 Wembly Arena.
ibanezguitars - Awww well its good to have you finally posting....everyone is friendly round here so no need to be scared of posting! Your story of Sevilee 92 is pretty much the same as mine...coming across by accident...but the lovely thing is that last year I joined this site and by then my video tape of Seville was very badly worn and jumped and had the bottom half of the picture missing and someone I had leant it too had taped over a bit of it...so I asked about it on here and a lovely fan came to my rescue and sent me a DVD copy of his, so now its back to pristene condition.
OH JOHN IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT THIS POINT I WILL ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL TO YOU!
SteveeT - Oh my pleasure...wonder if he still has that cool jacket!
ovation1 - I still feel like that when I watch it!....lol
Hugs to all Satriella xx
